I prefer diversity. I love to make unique characters out of my minifig collection. If a set comes with tempting figures or parts for figures I will buy it.

I have a decent figure collection (360 according to sets, not to mention random parts I bought/swapped/was given) and I have a handful of my figures as they were bought, the rest are custom.

Diversity.

I have a lot of darth vaders which I like, because they're all different (from several movies and scenes). I wouldn't like to have two darth vaders which are exactly the same.

But if you build an army with some of the standard lego faces, it shouldn't be a problem. Then again, the terra cotta army in Xi'an is so cool because they have all different faces. Might be cool to have an army of 200 figures with all different heads but the same uniforms...

Well, how about minifigs like the Royal Guard? It would be weird to have dozens of storm troopers, then have 2 royal guards. Of course maybe that's just me. I imagine the storm troopers were much cheaper than the royal guard minifigs.

Quantity for me. I'm a Pirates theme fan so I love to collect the old Bluecoats with the plain smiles.

I don't mind it when people put personalized heads on there figs but I generally stick to the classic smiley

It depends. Definitely diversity because a city with all the same faces/torso would look really boring, like the whole city was populated by clones.

But for armies, it may be cheaper or easier to build up "quantity" with all the same faces though it may boring. You can't really say much about Diversity for Star Wars though, since most of the units are made of clones who look... pretty much alike with slight design variations.

At least Lego bothered to include diversity in their pirates tic tac toe and chess set this time, even though the quality has been compromised, which is much better than the old castle and lego city tic tac toe, which had all the same faces and weapons if any.

I prefer diversity even with castle soldiers, so they have different faces. The crown soldier impulse set had the angry face and I had already many of them. I understand they cannot put different faces in a 1 minifig set, but I would like the new classic smile face more

For figs like Clone troopers and Stormtroopers I just want Quantity, because they are already al the same.

Castle is the only theme where I can accept quantity over diversity.

Therefore, my vote goes to "diversity". City sets need different figures!

I don't want to sound like an old guy nagging kids but be thankful.

I have around 50 LEGO sets from when I was a child back in the 80's and every sinlge one of my minifigs has a yellow face with a simple smile.

Not until I got into the star wars sets late 2006, did I even know that LEGO made different faces now.

I'm blown away with all the facial expressions that you can get now.

Of course I'd like to see more like everyone, but hey, at least be happy with what you have.

Why is everyone so concerned about the head piece? There are other pieces that can be varied like torsos. For current crownies, there are 3 soldier torsos, then a king torso, and golden knight torso. Golden knight torso is so awesome, but expensive.

Diversity hands down! Sometimes it's flat out annoying. With the Rebel BP I would've liked atleast one diferent head. Perhaps with a hair color other then brown? :hmpf: Castle knights also have these problems. Other do aswell. Armies are supposed to be unique! (except Clones! )

Diversity all the way. Having a Cthulhu and Indy and a Princess and a Space Marine and a Squidman and a Aquaraider and etc allows me to make a multitude of crearinos psanning many different themes, and also allows me to mix'n'match to create new figs.

It is also my theory that eventually getting so, so, so many different minifig pieces and accessories one can make practically any type of character one wants.

I guess this topic has helped me see the "light". I will try my best to get extras of each castle set (the cheap ones) for a diverse amount of weapons, bricks and minifigs. And I guess 1 or 2 Medieval Market Villages. Then somepirates sets for civilian/bandit type minifigs.

Diversity. I always appreciate new minifig pieces/ prints, because they help a lot with customizing. You couldn't create half of the characters from movies, books, etc. a few years ago as you can today.

More minifig pieces/ prints also helps with creating interesting characters for mafia/ mystery games.

Wow, really interesting topic

I vote both :)

because as army builder... yes, I prefer quantity. The same minifigs with the same weapon look greats. You will not boring, if you know the means of "builder an army".

But, I vote also for diversity... Because I also collect various minifig and I use bricklink catalog as a guidance.

Can I show my minifigs collection in here?
