Corweena Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 I've always wanted a motorcycle......once I graduate from college I'll probably pick one up. I got to ride my uncle's fairly recently......its a Honda CBR1000RR Repsol Edition. It was very very fast. Quote
lowlead Posted October 4, 2011 Posted October 4, 2011 Kawasaki Vulcan900C Just got into riding this Summer after completing a safety course with my girlfriend. We're having a great time cruising so far. Definitely taking it slow while I get comfortable with the bike, and careful to remember all the rules of thumb for keeping the tires on the road. Riding actually makes me a better driver - now I'm keeping my eyes peeled no matter what I'm driving! The 250s that the safety course provided were great fun but after an intensive weekend of riding, I was popping pain pills from being sore. I simply did not fit on a Suzuki Intruder! Long story short, after trying out dozens of bikes I arrived at the Vulcan Custom for my first bike. It's a 2007 with 9800 miles and super affordable. It's got forward mounted controls (so my legs fit), and the previous owner put Cobra pipes on it...so it's prety loud! Good times. Quote
Concept Posted October 12, 2011 Posted October 12, 2011 Currently riding a 2008 Yamaha FZ6N in black. Has been a great bike. I have however been lusting after the Ducati Diavel for a little while now, maybe if all the stars align towards the end of next year I might be riding one. I think I need to stop buying Lego to achieve this feat though lol Quote

Niamh Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 Hey, I'm all for a Harley Davidson myself. Nothing on earth can outdo the majestic joy a ride on it presents you with. Cheers! Quote
peterab Posted October 21, 2011 Posted October 21, 2011 I've got an interview for a job on Monday where I'd be paid to ride a motorbike. On the footpath. It would only be a 125cc and I'd be dressed in bright safety orange though. Wish me luck, Peter wants a new larger LEGO budget. You need to slow down on buying LEGO, not stop Clearly he meant a temporary stop since otherwise we'd have to pluck some birds, heat the tar and break out the whacking sticks :-) Quote

Siegfried Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 As promised some long overdue shots of my bike. Very nice! I'm going for a ride tomorrow with a guy who owns a R1. (I've ridden it once.) I'll see if I can get some photos. I got to ride my uncle's fairly recently......its a Honda CBR1000RR Repsol Edition. It was very very fast. I hope that wasn't your first bike... I think I need to stop buying Lego to achieve this feat though lol If I bought a new Yamaha today it'd probably be a FZ6N. The Diavel seems to be a beastly bike, but I must admit that if I bought a bike like that I'd rather buy a VMAX. I've got an interview for a job on Monday where I'd be paid to ride a motorbike. On other issues, my plan to get my wife on a bike is going good! She's been riding her new scooter to work (Honda PCX) all week. I'd rather her on a real bike but I see this as stage one... Quote
Big Cam Posted October 25, 2011 Posted October 25, 2011 Sieggy, you've gone through bikes like I go through shoes. That's awesome, did you trade in the Kawasaki? Quote
Siegfried Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 Sieggy, you've gone through bikes like I go through shoes. That's awesome, did you trade in the Kawasaki? I'm just sitting on it. I've still got the Versys... and it's probably for the best considering the way I ride it. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 26, 2011 Posted October 26, 2011 I totally missed the word IF. I thought you were already onto your third bike. Quote

LEGO Guy Bri Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 My first motorcycle, 2000 GSX-R600 and one of my favorite mtn. bike. 2002 Enduro FSR. I bought the GSX-R 4 years ago, non running and fixed it just for it's matching color , cheap price and because I wanted a 4 cyl. Now looking at a 2012 Ninja 1000. Can't wait for the riding season Quote
legomonk Posted March 3, 2012 Posted March 3, 2012 I'm getting excited for the riding season. Me too! I am painting my fenders this next week checkered and doing a checkered stripe down the center of my bike. I am so excited but its still in the low 30s here in idaho with about 2 inches of snow on the ground I want to ride up to Seattle this summer with some friends. It will be the longest trip on my bike I have ever taken. Quote
Hrw-Amen Posted March 4, 2012 Posted March 4, 2012 I always have had motorcycles and push bikes and love them, however I have a problem with my hip and about five years ago it got so bad that I can no longer get on or off my bikes or put them onto the stand. I am really sad as they are sat in the garden and I cannot use them. This time of year whenn it is starting to get sunny again and I am sat in the car it makes me remember all the good times I had. I have held off parting with them as I hoped to one day be able to ride them again but it seems a fading hope so I am not sure what I will do. Part of me wants to keep them anyway, but I know that they are deteriorating just sitting there and that makes me me sadder than ever. Quote
LegoMavrick Posted March 8, 2012 Posted March 8, 2012 Ran a Yamaha R1 back in South Africa. Almost landed me in divorce court that did!!! With the price of petrol the way it is and just heading higher, the wife is starting to see the light..... My My does the 2012 R1 look good or does it look good.... Quote
Big Cam Posted March 11, 2012 Posted March 11, 2012 It's supposed to be 60(F) degrees here this week, hopefully that will melt any leftover snow and then the street cleaners can clean up the roads and my riding season can begin. Quote
legomonk Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 We hit a warm streak and the snow has melted, seen a street cleaner and so I pulled the bike out today. It felt great but still a little cold. My hands didnt warm up for an hour. lol Quote
peterab Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 I started a new job as a postman at the start of December. My new ride is a Honda CT110. It feels oddly naughty riding on the footpath :-) Quote
MetroiD Posted March 14, 2012 Posted March 14, 2012 It feels oddly naughty riding on the footpath :-) You BAD, BAD biker you! Congrats on finding a way to be paid in order to ride though! Well done Quote
Squelch Posted March 16, 2012 Posted March 16, 2012 I went out for a short ride yesterday, and it was glorious! I have three bikes - a Buell XB12X Ulysses that's my daily driver, a Kawasaki KLX250S for trails, and a Triumph Daytona 675 for the track. I love motorcycles, and if I had to give up every other hobby (Lego, photography, etc.) I would in a heartbeat, to keep at least one motorcycle. Quote
peterab Posted March 17, 2012 Posted March 17, 2012 Congrats on finding a way to be paid in order to ride though! Well done There's a joke that's told about postie bikes; Postie bikes are like fat girls; fun to ride but you don't want your friends to see you doing it. And while I'm in my wet weather gear I look like I'm wearing a flouro yellow banana suit. Not really the bad biker image Quote

peterab Posted March 18, 2012 Posted March 18, 2012 That sounds like a fun job. I like the delivery part, but the sorting part is still a bit stressful. It's in the top ten most dangerous jobs in Australia and about a third of the incidents in a year involve posties in car accidents. Very few people look out for posties on the footpath when coming out of their driveway. I'm trying not to think about that part. I've had my first crash a couple of weeks ago when someone pulled out of a parking spot in front of me in the wet (I was on the road on the way to my round). Heavily loaded postie bikes don't recover well after swerving to miss cars. The handlebars started slapping, and the one I was still holding on to was the throttle so I was making it worse. I didn't think to let go fast enough so ended up coming off. I was a little bruised and sore for a while. The motorbike training we were given was pretty wild. One exercise was deliberately locking the front wheel and then recovering. We had to lock up over and over again till we we confident about it. Doing it the first time was really scary, since every other training course I've been on pretty much said 'Don't lock up the front or you'll crash'. The front is pretty quick to slide sideways when it locks up but it rights itself pretty quickly too if you release the brake quick enough. Quote
