L-space Posted March 3, 2010 Posted March 3, 2010 (edited) I took the bike ou t yesterday, for the first time this year. It has been dry for a couple of days and all the snow and stuff has been washed away by rain. So nothing to stop me for my virgin ride of 2010. Then reality hit me at about 5 degrees C; %$#@# cold! But that only lasted a couple of minutes. Right untill my face frooze solid. Even without the cold you would't be able to get the grin of my face though. Let the good times role. Even so, isn't fresh chilled (not too cold of course... ) air great sometimes when riding? Am I losing it? Perhaps it's the lack of winter-y weather here... Quote
Big Cam Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 If our roads were not covered in sand from the winter snow plow trucks, I'd be taking a ride too. I do need to get my battery tender on my bike, as I'm pretty sure the battery is not at full charge anymore. Quote

Fresh chilled is what I call when it's 35 out there and it feels like 25; not 5 that makes it feel like -25. Quote

The weather plays some dirty tricks to us....It made me forget to count and calculate properly. I wear open helmets by default, so nothing in my face. I do want to feel the air, preferably nice and warm that is. Don't worry about the math. 1, 2 many, is usually enough. 1, 2 many speedcameras 1, 2 many traffic police 1, 2 many traffic lights etcetera Quote
Zorbas Posted March 4, 2010 Posted March 4, 2010 I wear open helmets by default, so nothing in my face. I do want to feel the air, preferably nice and warm that is. Open helmets is also my choice, but NO MORE WARM AIR FOR ME!!!! Honestly.... It's still winter for crying out loud and we had 25 degrees today. Don't worry about the math. 1, 2 many, is usually enough. 1, 2 many speedcameras 1, 2 many traffic police 1, 2 many traffic lights etcetera With all these, only one thing comes in mind: A nightmare on Elm Street! "1, 2, Freddy's coming for you..." :skull: ( The traffic policeman that is...) Great movies! Quote

Do you wear goggles or glasses then? Honestly my favorite part about full faced helets is the sheild. Anything over 30mph and my eyes start to water real bad, and it becomes hard to see. Quote
MetroiD Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Honestly my favorite part about full faced helets is the sheild. You might find this funny, but that's also sometimes the case with me when I play hockey... A couple of quick end-to-end plays and my eyes start to water. I need to get me a visor, I guess... Quote

MetroiD Posted March 5, 2010 Posted March 5, 2010 Still planning out a MOC of one of my bikes. Another Triumph fan! Yay!!! I'd love to see you built a MOC of that beauty :) @ Big Cam - yep, precisely, but the funny thing is most guys' eyes don't water at all... Oh well. Quote

Goggles don't work on a pilot-helmet. BTW I totally understand the liking of Triumph; a company that has stayed close to what makes a great motorcycle; passion and fantasy mixed with enginering courage. I'm cursed, if I laugh too hard, tears just start coming out, I can't help it. I must have overative tear ducts. OK, back on topic. I turned the key on my R6 adn it actually lit up, I was shocked there was any juice in the battery still, now I just need to throw my charger on it and wait a day or two, then another month for the snow to melt. Captain Green Hair Posted March 6, 2010 Author Posted March 6, 2010 Oh I totally get it, especially on a rink where the air is so cold. Whiner! I was riding this week with -1 degrees and visor open. I love a fresh breeze in the morning. BTW I totally understand the liking of Triumph; a company that has stayed close to what makes a great motorcycle; passion and fantasy mixed with enginering courage. I agree, Triumph definitely makes nice bikes, especially the old twins are to my likings. OK, back on topic. Good news! Can't be that long to good weather now any more. I had a problem with my turn signals, the switch was totally screwed. I also wanted to mount different blinkers on the front, but I was stupid enough to get 39mm clamps instead of 41mm ones..... (Idiot, yes I know) Did fix the switch, but I took of the front blinkers for nothing, 2 hours to waste....while it was decent riding weather today. Quote
Big Cam Posted March 9, 2010 Posted March 9, 2010 Whiner! I was riding this week with -1 degrees and visor open. I love a fresh breeze in the morning. Ironic you said that becasue this weekend I went snowmobiling and on Saturday we went for 8 hours straight and the visor on my helmet sucked so bad, I had to go with the visor up. I think I ended up catching a cold from that, but it got me excited to get my bike ready. Quote
peterab Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Has anybody else noticed we all seem to have new motorbike tags :-) I'd like to say thanks for mine, it made me very happy when I noticed it. I know Big Cam has had one for a while but they seem to be a lot more common now. Quote
MetroiD Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 ...they seem to be a lot more common now. Oh damn. The one tag I feel I must have... Guess I need to do more chatting about bikes Or build more of them in minifig scale :D Quote
L-space Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Oh damn. The one tag I feel I must have... Guess I need to do more chatting about bikes Or build more of them in minifig scale :D Ha, bikes are better then cars, even F1 cars. Just kiddin, like what you like. And I'm sure you can come up with some amazing minifig-scale bikes. But I'm still proud of that tag. It can only be topped by a MOC-expert tag. And I'm working on that one. Quote
MetroiD Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 Ha, bikes are better then cars, even F1 cars. No doubt about that. Besides, I always say that speed is what bikes are there for - and that's one of my primary reasons for being anti-tuner, anti-racer, etc. A car needs to be comfortable and nice to look at, what it doesn't (necessarily ) need is 500bhp. Funny thing, I don't use my bike for speed. Just for cruisin' along. Everything else is up for speed. From skates to train I don't mind. If I ever was to buy a fast bike I'd probably kill myself on the nearest tree (or doorway) Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted March 15, 2010 Posted March 15, 2010 What, this tag? I asked Shadows if he could make one, and he did. Then, I figured all of the people that have motorcycles should have a motorcycle tag in their profile. I too shall post a pic of mine, but not yet. I have way too many LEGO bags blocking it in at the moment. But, the weather is a bit nicer here outside Chicago so I might have one in the next few days. Started her up the other day and....mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, sounded good! Glad you enjoy the tag. And yes, if any of you are planning a ride, feel welcome to use this thread. That's what it's all about! MetroiD Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I just got a mail from our fellow Romanian LUG - they're doing an event next week and they invited me to drop by, which I can't considering my lack of transportation for the time being. If work does go back to normal over the next month or so though, who knows - I might finally manage to fulfil the dream of a lifetime and buy a bike! ...either that, or I'll buy all the equipment I need for a summer of inline hockey, now that the ice season is almost done... Ahh, I finally know the origins. I always assumed it was Captain Green hair since back when I got mine, his was the other one I saw first, asn since he was a mod, I just assumed. I'm getting excited for the warm weather. I have new front blinkers and a new tailight for my bike just waiting to be installed, so I'll definetaly have new pics up in a few months. Quote
Milan Posted March 16, 2010 Posted March 16, 2010 I am tired of driving mine in the garage...but it is so cold here. Bike is polished, helmet is polished, tank is full, everything is ready Quote
