Went riding the other day, and it felt great after so many wet weekends. I proved that I was faster than anyone would think. :sweet:

CRF150F and a CRF250R. Haven't ridden the big one yet but I know once the rain stops falling I'll be riding it out at the mx park.

Can't wait till then.

Nice tag by the way!

I am tired of driving mine in the garage...but it is so cold here.

Bike is polished, helmet is polished, tank is full, everything is ready :classic:

You're beating me, mines covered in dust and most likely has a dead battery, either today or tomorrow I'm going to throw the charger on it, I forsee me changing oil on it in less than a month. It's actually startign to warm up here.

Went to see a ZXR 400 a couple of days ago. Left in 5 minutes utterly disappointed :sceptic: The missing right rear view mirror was a dead giveaway from the moment I arrived there - even though the bike had been given a new paintjob. The covers (engine cover, among others) were showing nice deep scratches and the exhausts had both been replaced. And now for the coolest part - the guy kept saying the bike had only done 25k kms. Why even bother arguing with him? I was so disappointed I didn't even bother checking the front forks, and now I regret that because they would probably have been worthy of a photograph, considering that nasty hit/fall the poor ZXR had suffered...

These bikes are hard to come by on the local market and I'm not too keen on importing one from Germany or Switzerland... so I'm starting to think whether I should not save up some more and go straight for a 600. Although I must admit, I was awfully keen on getting a small(er) bike so that I could learn proper handling in corners without worrying too much about horsepower...

That stinks man, but at least your educated enough to know what to look for. It's a blessing in disguise. In high school, I bought my first dirt bike, not knowing anything really, and the 3rd gear fork was bent and so when in 3rd gear therer was this horrible clanking noise and the thing drank oil like gas, I literally added a quart of oil every time I filled the tank with gas.

Keep looking, good luck!

That reminds me so much of my first car - a Russian beast that seemed to drive on gas AND oil

I'll definitely keep looking, thanks for the support mate - I've kept my Vanucci gear in the closet for far too long... Hope I'll luck out sooner or later, although I'm also quite keen on simply spending that money elsewhere... We'll see how it all pans out in the end ;)

I know how you feel, man. That is my dream bike! I could not find it here :sceptic:

I'd love a ZXR 600, but that paint job is way to loud for my taste. I'm not a fan of Kawasaki racing green.

When I bought my Across, I wanted a red one, but mine had low km's and was in pretty good condition.

I have been riding motorcycles between the age of 18 and 32. Since I crashed on a vacation to Norway in 2001, I haven't had a bike.

I haven't followed the models from the last 5 years, but ask me about some details on a bike from the 80s or 90s, and I will know.

I made my own bike some 7 years ago:

That's sad to hear front, but I'm glad you made it out ok.

Looks like you had a fast bike in the past, will you ever get back on?

Well I did:

60.000 km on a Yamaha RD 125 LC

85.000 km on a Suzuki GSF600 Bandit

21.000 km on a Suzuki SV650S

Not particular fast bikes, but I enjoyed traveling fast with the two Suzuki's in the mountains of Pyrenees (France-Spain) and Norway.

You do realise that the picture is a bike I modelled in 3D ? :classic:

Well I have thought about it ever since 2001. Motorcycles has been a big part of my life since I was a little child. When we (family) drove on the highways down through Germany or similar, I could spot out nearly every model driving towards us. That was at the age of 8 or 10 years old.

When I had a bike I drove a lot of kilometers, I would just jump on my bike and do a little "twist of the wrist" just for the fun of it. Well everybody does this, but I kept on doing it week after week, year after year.

Then I crashed. Badly. Was picked up by helicopter and flown to hospital in Bergen (Norway). Had a fracture to shin and thing of the left leg, including some cuts in that leg. Took a month to get out off hospital, much more to have my last surgery. Everything went fine, but I used to do high jump and stuff, and had to realize that that and similar is history.

I then picked up cycling, and have both Mountain bike and race bike. I love it. Is it like motorcycling ? No. But it's not nearly as dangerous or expensive. Doing a lot of kilometers cost money big time in a country like Denmark, and bikes have 200 % tax, though cost about 3 times as much as they do in e.g. UK. I have several times wondered if I should get a new bike, but then think about all the money I would spend on it.

Then there is crashing. I drive way too fast, especially in corners. I have got older, learned my lesson, got hurt, I might be able to ride more sensible.

One thing about motorcycles that has not diminished one tiny bit, is my love for Road Racing. I used to be a "mechanic" for a friend who did 250cc racing back in the late 80s. I have visited Assen as spectator four times for GP and once for Superbike World Championship. Visited Anderstorp in Sweden for the last two GP's held there in was it '87 and '88 ? Watched the 1999 24H moto-Le Mans race all by my self, among thousands of crazy French people, after doing a tour from Denmark to the Pyrenees in Spain and back up to France (Le Mans) in early April.

I still watch GP on television, well on my PC, as I stream all the races live without commercials from motogp.com. Just renewed my 2010 subscription, and have watched the 1993 and 1994 GP500 championship the last weeks or so. NOSTALGIC.

I hope you enjoy your bikes guys, I may not have one the next ten years, but maybe some day. Ride safely, please.

I can totally respect that decision 100%

I haven't had that life altering crash yet, hopefully I never do.

At least you found something that you like to do, and you are still active in the Motorcycle community even if you aren't riding. I'm glad you came out of the accident healthy (for the most part), it could have been worse.

I had no idea about the outrageous taxes over there. I'm from the US so I'm probably sheltered from this type of knowledge.

Am i the only one left with a bike in storage?? Mines coming out this Friday. I have the day off from work, adn it's finally warm enough here.

I'm so excited.

I'm happy so see this thread! So I can show off my brand new bike I just picked up 4 days ago! I've never had a new car or bike till now and I read that as long as I take good care of it and do regular maintenance, I should have no problems with it for a loooooong time! It rides like a dream and I'm learning defensive driving skills which are extremely important! I'm reading a book and watched a video, taking a safety course.

^At the dealership. Already bought but waiting for me to register it. I bought a new skull windscreen and matching tank pad for it.

MeonBike1_edit_sml.jpg

^Me taken the bike for a ride. I know I know the loose jeans aren't the best for riding. I got 2 new safer helmets. Today I bought some black leather pants. I got a cover for it and B2 Industries pro rail sliders I need to put on to protect the bike in case of drop. Also getting a Scorpian Alarm the new Rlink one with pager system, GPS, and cellular tech.

^Watch me take the bike for a ride to practice getting used to it in a parking lot right next to the dealer. Watch as I take a wide turn and nearly drop it at the end!

Well, mines not in storage, I just haven't ridden it in months. I must admit all the excitement here is tempting me though.

Be really careful, and avoid over confidence. Your risks are highest just after buying a new bike, since it will handle slightly differently to any other bike you've had before, and your reactions may be tuned to a different bike and may be inappropriate for the new one.

Have fun with your new bike, it looks an awesome beast.

Congrats on the new bike and congrats on the tag!

I learned right away when I got mine...every other car out there is aiming to get you! Sucks, but somedays, it's true!

Best advice I got from my Rider training; when you brake and lock up the back wheel, HOLD IT! Do not let up on that brake, just ride it out 'til you stop. If you do, the two wheels will spin at different speeds for just a moment before you go down. After 5 years, I finally locked 'em up last summer, no choice. I remembered that little bit of info and rode it out. Burning rubber never smelled so nice! I left a really nice patch on the road too!

Anyway, yeah, taking the toy out tomorrow so I will get a pic or two.

Congrats on the purchase. Be very carefull. Thats a whole lot of bike for a beginner.

I remember years ago my my friend asked if i would bring back a bike that he planed on purchasing in my then pick-up truck. I agreed and we made a day of it. Upon arrival of the dealer, he found the bike he was looking for. A brand new Kawi 600. Then he saw a deal for a GSXR 1,000. Now i don't know much about bikes, but i knew that the GSXR was the "Ferrari Enzo" of the bike world (well, at least at the time). Like giving a 16yr old the keys to a Ferrari for his first car. I bluntly told him that if he did purchase this bike, he would need to find a way other than my vehicle to take it home. Luckily the salesman had conscious and refused to sell him the bike.

In the end he settled with the 600 he originally came in to buy. He layed it down a couple times, and in the end, admitted that it probably would have been better to fully learn on something a tad smaller. He never regretted his purchase, as he did grow into it.

Again, congrats on your purchase. Just remember to respect the power.

Congrats Grimmy, keep the rubber side down. If this is your first bike, be careful, don't try to be a Moto GP racer your first day. The learning curve is big but happens fairly quickly.

You guys are going to get sick of me sying this but I can't wait for Friday, only 3 more days till I get wake mine up. I put the batterey charger on it yesterday at lunch and by the time I got home, it was fully charged. All I need to do is get some oil, and I'm set.

Testing it on a parking lot? Hit the road man!

Loose jeans not safe? You just need to make sure you don't fall off.

Get a chopper and look badass, people will move out your ******* way!

Congrats on the bike Grimmy, enjoy it!

So I got my bike washed, adn the oil changed, and then I installed my front flushmount blinkers, which I love and then I went ahead and ripped open my taillight to replace the LED board with the new one, and wouldn't you know it, two of the LED's are not working on the new board, so I have an email out to the guy i bought it from and my bike sits alone in my garage half taken apart.

So, I'm gonna take a guess that we have all been out riding because the last post in here was from April 5th? Page 8 people, I mean I really had to go back!

This past weekend was great. I got to hang out and ride with friends I haven't seen in years, partake in the fine refreshments available, and enjoy two days of fantastic sun and riding weather! I haven't been able to ride as much as I want to lately, but just wanted to post this pic from last night.
