peterab Posted November 11, 2009 Posted November 11, 2009 About piecing your ankle, not that I'm blaming you, but maybe boots should have been worn at the time. Yeah, hindsight can be pretty good like that At the time I didn't ride so I didnt have any appropriate boots. The bike belonged to my housemate who was having trouble getting it started. A few of his friends were taking it in turns to see who could start it. I was larger and heavier than the others, and rode pushbikes a lot so had huge thighs, so they wanted me to have a go. I must have primed it because it started next kick. Quote
prateek Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 The most badass bike I've ever seen BMW Concept6 Quote

Ras 74 Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 But BMW should stick to cars, not mc´s in no way. Though I have to admit it looks cool. But what concepts rarely do? Boxer motors... No thanks!! Quote

No thanks!! But BMW has produces quite successful motorcycles, and they can do it still... Boxer is the trademark on their motorcycles! Quote
Big Cam Posted November 12, 2009 Posted November 12, 2009 But BMW should stick to cars, not mc´s in no way.Though I have to admit it looks cool. But what concepts rarely do? Boxer motors... No thanks!! BMW has been building motorcycles longer than cars. The BMW logo is actually a propeller spinning through the sky, hence the white and blue. After World War I they stopped making airplanes and focused on motorcycles, 5 years later they started building cars, so I think BMW has a good thing going with their motorcycles. Quote

No thanks!! In Australia there is a certain set of riders, who having grown out of trying to keep a Harley on the road, but still dont want a Japanese bike, gravitate towards BMW tourers. Those bikes often end up outliving their riders, despite being heavily ridden two up with gear, over large distances, in extreme terain for decades. They're far better than the shitbox 3 series cars which seem to be all we see here. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 My dad has a 1978 and a 1979 BMW 1000R. They both run on leaded gasoline which is no longer available in the US. He hasa to go to the airport to buy it, because you can still get leaded gas in aviation fuel. If I could afford the new BMW sportbike, I'd be riding that. Quote
Milan Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 If I could afford the new BMW sportbike, I'd be riding that. I prefer Japanese bikes, regarding design. Today, BMW is designing their bikes in a way which is not so attractive to me. How about you? Quote

For the most part I agree with you, their bikes of lately have not exactly been my style, btu the new BMW S1000R is killer, and I'd love to own one. Sorry for the large size on the first one, they are just linked from a google search. Quote
Milan Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) i saw it earlier, and yes, it is nice, and I wouldn't mind if I receive one as a gift. But if I would be a buyer, I would go with the Japanese bike... They too are a little bit extravagant for my taste...1988-1998 bikes had the best design, imo. Edited November 13, 2009 by Milan Quote
MetroiD Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 They too are a little bit extravagant for my taste...1988-1998 bikes had the best design, imo. I agree 100% BMW have had some wonderful designs over the last 5 years, but this one is quite a disappointment. The disproportionate look worked well for their streetfighter bike, but not the sportsbike. Quote

I suppose for as much as I am defending BMW, I myself drive a Yamaha Quote
MetroiD Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 (edited) I love the desging and the ugly green color too. I only said I didn't like the headlights - the ugly green works juuuuuust fine for me as well ;] And so does the muscular swingarm... you gotta love the attitude that BMW have learned to instill in their bikes! P.S.: Forgive me if this sounds rude or pushy, but I was curious - how did you guys get those motorcycle tags?... Edited November 13, 2009 by TheOtters Quote

It just happened. I thought Captain Green Hair did it but he said someone gave it to him too, so it's a mystery. It happened early on the life of this thread. You know about tags, they are a mystery and you shouldnt ask for them. Quote

CloneCommanderDelta7 Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 BMW has been building motorcycles longer than cars. Good thing too, I don't like their cars. What Milan and Big Cam said! BMW bikes are some of the best bikes in the world. Yes, I agree! BMW, although they may be strange in the way they arrange headlights or where they put the airbox on the G450X, but they are nevertheless insanely cool. The only thing that might be a problem is price for parts. For the most part I agree with you, their bikes of lately have not exactly been my style, btu the new BMW S1000R is killer, and I'd love to own one. I think that BMW is the only company that can truly create a nice-looking bike with different headlights. The CBR600R looks nice though. To news now. Pictures of the pre-production KTM 350 motocrosser is available at Dirt Action Australia website. Looks good. In the paper today were pictures of a 'naked' BMW F800R. It must be a new model because there would be absolutely no reason otherwise to show it, well here it is. Here is the G450X. I think it is absolutely awesome. What do you think about it? Quote
Big Cam Posted November 13, 2009 Posted November 13, 2009 The exhaust on the BMW dirt bike is way too big, but otherwise, I'd rock that up and down the hill, all day long. Quote
L-space Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 On the ongoing discussion about BMW I can only say: "to each his own". Some like this and some like that. I am a big fan of boxers in general but not of all BMW's. I have been accused of not liking Ducati because I ride a Harley. Well, I like some and I don't like some others. Simple as that. Quote
Captain Green Hair Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 Yeah BMW has made some nice motorcycles, here's one: because I ride a Harley. Yeah i know, stop rubbing it in you lucky ...! Quote
