Lorentzen Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I just bought a batch of LEGO on ebay and this pillar came along with the regular LEGO I've never seen it before (maybe it's because I recently came out of a long Dark Age of approx. 16 years) Is it even a piece of LEGO? It fits with all other LEGO, but there's not a "LEGO" name printed anywere on the pillar. Quote
Rick Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Surely that's NOT Lego. Must be some clone brand and I am proud to say I'm not expert on those. Quote
Dr. Steve Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) It is not a Lego piece that I know of. Edited October 6, 2009 by Dr. Steve Quote
Izzy Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I'm pretty sure that is a mast from the Megablocks Pyrates ship. Quote
JCC1004 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 It's megabloks ! The hollow studs are a give away. My advice, throw it in the trash and move on. Quote
Lorentzen Posted October 6, 2009 Author Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) Thanks for the quick answers It does look weird compared to LEGO Edit: Btw I only thought that M E G A B L O K S was this kind of toy: I never knew that they also made stuff that's compatible with regular LEGO Edited October 6, 2009 by Lorentzen Quote
posades Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) I dunno, it might come in handy one day, I'm not sure if I would trash it; maybe just keep it somewhere separate from your other LEGO. But yes Megablocks does make smaller bricks, just look at their Halo line. Edited October 6, 2009 by posades Quote
Eskallon Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 I once bought a few MB sets to compare and this was a piece in all of them, chuck it in the bin. Not lego at all. Quote
-JD- Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) As everyone else has said, it is not LEGO. So yes, throw it in the recycle bin. Edited October 6, 2009 by Jammiedodger714 Quote
FireHawk302 Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Not LEGO. But don't trash it! It could be handy for MOC's. (I keep all my clones for use in MOC's, it doesn't bother me.) Quote

No actually it is of really poor quality. It easily slips and gives way under most moc's. I have learnt to only trust lego when making supportive pillars. Quote
Wout Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 Instead of throwing in the recycling bin, you also can sell it to someone who likes megablocks, and use the money for new real lego. Quote
Peppermint_M Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) It could also be from the Dragons line of sets (the one with the superior weapons). The nice moulded wood effect and paint applications make it useful in any number of MOCs. Edited for spelling Edited October 6, 2009 by Peppermint_M Quote
Big Cam Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 (edited) As everyone else has said, it is not LEGO. So yes, throw it in the recycle bin. Not even that, burn it. If it gets recycled then it might get made into LEGO and that would make the LEGO piece half megablocks. Edited October 6, 2009 by Big Cam Quote
SlyOwl Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 It looks useful enough for MOCing with - I would personally like to see some moulded wood elements from Lego. Imagine a 2x2 round brick, with grooves on the sides, which could be stacked to make pillars/trees. The grooves would not be symmetrical all the way around, so the brick could be rotated 90' each time, to give a varying pattern. Quote
prateek Posted October 6, 2009 Posted October 6, 2009 That's Megabloks for sure. I have some pieces that look exactly the same Quote

I agree, that would be really cool, if only ELGO would copy the copiers Quote
Omicron Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 if only ELGO would copy the copiers Then they would be hypocrites, since they been hammering down on clone bricks and bootlegs. -Omi Quote
Rick Posted October 7, 2009 Posted October 7, 2009 Then they would be hypocrites, since they been hammering down on clone bricks and bootlegs. If done properly - like suggested above: a 2 x 2 round with the same start and end point for the groves at the top and bottom of the brick on each quarter, but different patterns in between on each quarter - it would be ok. But it wouldn't be one of the bricks I'd want TLG to make desperately. These Megabloks 'pillars' look that's for sure. Quote
Lorentzen Posted October 9, 2009 Author Posted October 9, 2009 Haha I never knew this would end up with so many posts - well I don't like how the brick looks so I'm not gonna use it. But as suggested by SlyOwl it would definitely be cool if LEGO did something similar, only better Quote
