The Soup Nazi Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 How's everyone doing with VIP? Any strange issues at the moment? Let me know and I would be more than happy to find out some answers for you. When I first got my VIP card yesterday, when I logged in it said I didn't have the bonus 25 VIP points you're supposed to get! Quote
AndyC Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 S@H takes away VIP points when you use VIP points? Then it's not even the 5% that this was supposed to be! I don't think I've ever seen any discount point scheme where you can earn points on the savings you make, that would seem a bit odd to do, as you'd never actually be able to use up all your points. As it stands, I'm loving the VIP scheme, it's got me some great sets for free. The only wierdness I've noticed is when checking the points balance history on lego.com, the numbers don't seem to add up. And at various points I even seem to have a negative points balance. Not a big deal, but makes keeping track of things a bit awkward. Quote

No, after thinking it over I realize that I get VIP points for the money I spend, not for the value of the LEGO I buy. It is different from other bonus systems, though. For example, I have a special card for when I buy groceries that registers all my purchases. Once a month I get a bonus check for 1% of the total sum that I bought for the previous month. When I take it to the store, it is accepted as money. This means 1% of the value of the amount on the bonus check is also transferred to next month's bonus check. Have I lost you yet? That was what I thought the VIP program would do as well - give me VIP points for my order and THEN subtract the saved amount. And AndyC, how do we use up all our VIP points? You always get new ones. If your current points balance covers the price of the products you buy exactly. In that case you get no new points and you're stuck with no old points either. Quote

If you spent exactly the same amount of cash plus whatever discount you'd built up, eventually you'd be getting an enormous amount of stuff for free without ever having spent more money. It doesn't seem like a very sustainable scheme, or at least not to me. Quote
fred67 Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I didn't seem to get VIP points on Pick-A-Brick. Anyone else encounter that? Quote
Skafte Posted October 26, 2010 Posted October 26, 2010 I didn't seem to get VIP points on Pick-A-Brick. Anyone else encounter that? That might be because they haven't charged you for the PaB part of the order yet - they usually ship a bit later. And the VIP points are only received after payment has been made. Quote
Stash2Sixx Posted October 29, 2010 Posted October 29, 2010 VIP Points are awardeed when you are charged for the item. If it's a pre-order or backorder, your card isn't charged until that order ships. If you buy $100 worth of LEGO, and use $25 in VIP Rewards, you are only going to receive $75 woth of VIP Points. The bonus 25 VIP Points were from signing up for the program. This means you actually went online to register your card and can now redeem your rewards in the store or online. Anything else, send me a pm. I'm more than happy to help out and answer questions.
