After searching back the last ten pages of the Culture and Multimedia Forum, I failed to find any Halo general discussion topics, so I though I'd start one.

This topic is for the Halo fans on EB to discuss the popular game franchise and it's EU. Post here with news on games, novels, events and pretty much all things Halo. If you have a question on anything Halo, I'd be happy to answer. :classic:

Video Games

* The Halo Trilogy - The original first-person shooter trilogy.

o Halo: Combat Evolved - The first Halo video game.

+ Halo PC - The Windows and Mac version of Halo: Combat Evolved.

# Halo: Custom Edition - A free, unsupported upgrade to the Windows part of Halo: Combat Evolved.

o Halo 2 - The second halo video game

+ Halo 2 Vista - The Windows Vista version of Halo 2.

o Halo 3 - The final installment of the FPS series.

+ Halo 3 Beta - The beta stage of the third installment.

+ Halo 3: ODST - The expansion pack of Halo 3.

* A series of Halo spin-off games.

o Halo Wars - The RTS version of the Halo series developed by Ensemble Studios.

+ Halo Wars: Limited Edition - The limited edition of the RTs version of Halo. Includes several rare pieces of merchandise.

o Halo: Chronicles - A Halo game developed by Peter Jackson and Wingnut Interactive in association with Bungie. As of 2009, the game has been confirmed as canceled.

o Halo: Reach - Not much is known about this new game. However, it will most likely be focused on the events of the Halo novel: Halo: The Fall of Reach

+ Halo: Reach Beta - The upcoming beta stage of the installment included with Halo 3: ODST. It will be available sometime during 2010.

Novels

* Halo: The Fall of Reach - The book explaining what happened before Halo: Combat Evolved by Eric Nylund.

* Halo: The Flood - The novelization of Halo: Combat Evolved by William C. Dietz.

* Halo: First Strike - The book explaining the SPARTAN programs.

o Halo Box Set - The box set featuring the three first Halo Novels.

* Halo: Ghosts of Onyx - The book introducing Onyx.

* Halo: Contact Harvest - The prequel to the Halo saga set at the beginning of the Human-Covenant War.

* Halo: The Cole Protocol - The latest novel that revealed the location of the Spartan Gray Team.

* Halo: Evolutions - Essential Tales of the Halo Universe - A collection of Halo stories set to be released in both print and audio format November 24th 2009.

All of the above was copied and pasted from Halopedia.

-Whoever controls Halo, controls the fate of the Universe.

Finally!

I'm actually now on the verge of having my entire brain dominated by Halo knowledge and desires

At the moment I am making a small/medium/large (haven't decided yet) MOC starring the Marines and Johnson, using Saber-Scorpion's character designs and decals and BrickArms' weapons. I'll be posting this hopefully towards the end of October/start of November :sweet:

In all honesty I fear I cannot post much in this topic due to it most likely becoming one heck of a Halo nerd-fest which no-one besides us merry few will understand :sceptic::grin:

Yes, sadly there is Halo Megablocks... Not sure about how good they are, because I haven't bought any. The figs look weird, but the weapons look alright.

It's always good to see other Halo fans in the community.

Well, I had a look at the MB Halo sets in my local TRU today and I must say, while the quality is bound to be poor, and the figures look stupid, I was somewhat impressed by them.

Oh sure, I didn't for one second consider buying them, but if someone gave one to me as a free gift I wouldn't complain. The Scorpion Tank actually looks like the real thing, which is a real achievement for a company such as MB.

Also, my brother and I have recently completed a D-Day style map and Territory game type set in the year 2552. We are currently making a film using this map of the Spartans taking the beach back from a group of Elites, and we need two teams of eight, or a 16-player party. The players need to be patient, be willing to follow a set script and perform actions in scenes.

If you're interested in this please PM me with your gamertag and one or two reasons why you'd like to be in the project :classic:

AS a huge Halo and Halo 3 fan. (I never had an original xbox so I never played Halo 2) I was shcoked to see the megablaocks halo set, I got pissed becasue I knew that menat it wouldn't ever come to LEGO.

The set looked like crap to me, the only halfway cool thing was the figs, but they still weren't up to LEGO's quality.

I have yet to play Halo Wars, but it's on my list of games to buy.

Halo 2 is forwards compatible with the Xbox 360, so if you buy Halo 2 you can play it on the 360 :sweet:

And Halo: Combat Evolved is available on the Xbox Live marketplace for 1200 MS-points.

Halo Wars is a really good game, the graphics in the cut-scenes are incredible and the whole game itself is amazing!

AwesomeStar, I forgot to put this in the PM, but if you can tell me a date, I will be happy to join. As of now, I am a Purple Elite, but if I have to change, I will. My GT is already in my sig, so that is good Any of you other Halo players out there, feel free to send me a PM asking me to add you.

If they do decide to finish the Halo movie, and don't make it Live Action, I would be happy enough if the people that worked on the Halo Wars cutscenes did it.

And just because there are Halo MBs, doesn't mean LEGO can't take the license and expand it. There is far more Halo than just Halo Wars.

I'm currently not sure on the date, but expect it to be sometime before Christmas - maybe even next month. I just need to finish writing the small (but sweet) script and prepare everything for film.

By the way, the way we are going to do this is perform scripted scenes on the game, then review them and make them into film clips on Theater, and then I'll mix them all together, add in music and recorded dialog, and then finish it off :sweet:

Also, I'm not sure what to use for the music. I'm deliberating between Requiem for a Tower by Escala or This is the Hour by the Halo 3 soundtrack people :sceptic:

Any thoughts?

And perhaps we should make a separate topic for this - I'd hate to clutter Mraz's topic with all this :sweet:

I don't think a whole new topic would be necessary, so let's just keep it all in here. :classic:

The song Requiem for A Dream came to mind when you said that. Anything Breaking Benjamin could work too.

I'll be happy to participate, and might be able to find one or two people that could do it as well.

Okay, we'll keep it all in here then

Requiem for A Dream was the original song I was using - mainly "Summer Overture", but then I found a cooler version that was supposedly used for LOTR: The Two Towers trailer, called "Requiem for A Tower", performed by a string-quartet by the name of Escala. It's really good, and should add a degree of tension to the film.

Also, as I said before, I might use songs from the Halo 3 soundtrack, such as "This Is The Hour".

If you could find those few people myself and my brother would very much appreciate it, and of course, anyone else who wishes to participate - just send me a PM and one or two reasons why you'd like to take part and I'll get back to you :sweet:.

Perhaps X-Box fans won't be pleased to hear this but Halo fans alone should...

:vader: The only reason I would buy an X-Box 360 is to play any game in the Halo series :vader:

I have never owned any non-PC Microsoft tech, and have bought every Playstation and a lot of games instead. My friend, however, has an old Xbox so whenever we meet up we try to get some Halo 1 or Halo 2 in. I've got to admit that not only is the online good, but the story and its split screen action is amazing and addictive with such a range of plasma weapons and especially vehicles for a first person shooter. Can't say I like playing my mate in Slayer mode, because he instantly goes for the rocket launcher and blows me up at point blank! :hmpf:

(You guys are missing out though - although not such long running franchises Motorstorm games and Resistance games are kick megablocks! But it would be easier for me to buy a 2nd hand Xbox than you guys to buy 2nd hand PS3s. :sceptic: I'm not a bit fan of console exclusivity  )

Frankly, it seem that most people who buy 360s are most interested in Halo. I see no problem with it though. While not the cheapest on the market, I think the 360 is the best console, and you sure get your money's worth.

On another note, Halo Waypoint was recently released on the Marketplace for free download, so I would recommend downloading that now if you haven't. With Halo Waypoint you can unlock Halo themed Avatar Awards, track your career status throughout Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo Wars, as well as check up on information about future Halo products. Also, every Saturday, and episode of the new Halo Legends anime airs for 24 hours, so be sure to check it out. I am not a big fan of anime, but I enjoyed yesterday's episode greatly.

I have all 3 original Halo games, and I played Halo 2's campaign to death, as I had a crappy old Xbox with no internet. Then around June of this year, I got a used launch pro. The first game I got was, of course, Halo 3. The campaign was a major letdown IMO, and after a month or two the online got boring with noobs using power weapons and melee. I stopped playing it for the most part, but I still love messing around in forge.

In short, I loved Halo 1 and 2, but 3 got boring and I'm no longer a Halo fan.

You shouldn't give up on something just because of the noobs. I do agree that the Halo 3 campaign was somewhat of a let down. The people that constantly use the power weapons get annoying, but I think I've reached the level where that happens less, or I just get lucky. Either way, you can add my on Live, and if we can get more people, I would happily play custom games with you, and anyone else interested.

But you should play Halo 3: ODST, even if you just rent it. The campaign is really good, and Firefight is endless fun.

The active camo minifigs are a hoot, true transclear Spartan with a true transclear flamethrower.

Are you referring to MegaBloks? Or some custom creation you saw?

I had an Xbox, but it broke. I played Halo 2's campaign once, but played many of the missions like the one where you cross the bridge in a tank. But better than the already awesome campaign, is the multiplayer mode. It is so cool!

You can customise your character, but you can also ride in vehicles too unlike COD4. I wish I could play Halo 3 and Halo 3:ODST for the first time, or at least play Halo 2 again. I could snipe anyone even if they were moving; I'm not saying I'm the best, but I had a chance.

Well, I've just finished ODST's campaign (Co-Op on Normal with my brother) and I must say it was amazing. I've heard people flaming about ODST being a waste of money and overpriced, but for £25 from Amazon... well, I'm just laughing in their faces!

The campaign is amazing, the Firefight mode is amazing, the Avatar Awards link-up to Halo: Waypoint is amazing... hot diggity-damn, this game is great!

My favourite character would be Romeo - not just for his personality but for the armour. Sniper goggles ftw!

Actually, speaking of Romeo, I'm near enough about to post a Romeo custom 'fig, so look out for that

We should play firefight sometime. But I prefer Dutch. He has a pretty cool helmet and Death's face slapped right on him. He also probably has one of the most developed stories, and he has been in Helljumper, the game, and an Episode if Halo Legends.

Can't wait to see the fig, AwesomeStar.

Fig up later today, when I get home :) It isn't entirely complete though. I guess it's version one.

And yes, we should definately play Firefight sometime - I'm trying to get Vidmaster: Endure, using this Bungie.net guy's guide to getting it on Alpha Base, so are you up for that?

I've beaten Halo 3 and ODST on Legendary, but Halo 3 didn't save, so I have to redo it.

WONDERFUL.

I've got three of the Firefight acheivements.
