Are people sueing you if don't write it and an accident occures ? the answer is yes. Companies better do a little bit too much instead of not enough :/

that's what common sense has come down to these days.

how big a motherload of cash did mac donald's have to pay the moron who put a paper coffee-cup between his/her legs, spilled it and suffered serious burning injuries...because on the cup was no notice the content (remember: COFFEE! which is mostly served freshly brewed, and therefore hot) could have been, and was, hot!

Makes me detest the human race, or some especially low IQ'ed parts of it, even more...

Besides: Don't argue those warning signs are meant for children's safety! I guess most kids wouldn't even understand the meaning of them. There is a reason why parents WILL face legal action when disregarding their duty of caring for their offspring*.

*guess there is actually a simple english word for the convolute of words I just hammered into the keyboard. But it escapes me right now, because I am very...very tired.

What about the two (Teen) girls who sued McDonalds because they were fat?

It's just stupid...I can't believe the lawyers who accept those suits (and win)

Then there's Jack(megablocks) Thompson...but that's another story

i agree with this. especially in the US there is this consumer attitude to sue a company for whatever the individual can think of. Companies try to protect themselves by adding more warnings than what the rational human being would consider to be necessary...

the lego company is no different, btw

i was in a large muti level shop with my wife the other week and some mad woman tried to take a full shopping trolley down the escalator! once the front wheels were in the air she could no longer hold on to the trolley as the weight pulled it down so she let go! the trolly crashed down the escalator into a woman below. now the the store could be sued because they did not have a sign saying no trolleys on the escalator. how stupid is that! *wacko*

Man, there was an award ceremony for this a year back. One of my favorites was a smoke detector that had a label saying

Some examples of why the human race has probably evolved as far as possible. These are actual instruction labels on consumer goods...

On Sears hairdryer:

Do not use while sleeping.

(Gee, that's the only time I have to work on my hair!)

On a bag of Fritos:

You could be a winner! No purchase necessary. Details inside.

(The shoplifter special!)

On a bar of Dial soap:

Directions: Use like regular soap.

(and that would be how?)

On some Swann frozen dinners:

Serving suggestion: Defrost.

(But it's 'just' a suggestion!)

On Tesco's Tiramisu dessert: (printed on bottom of the box)

Do not turn upside down.

(Too late! you lose!)

On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding:

Product will be hot after heating.

(Are you sure? Let's experiment.)

On packaging for a Rowenta iron:

Do not iron clothes on body.

(But wouldn't that save more time?)(Whose body?)

On Boot's Children's cough medicine:

Do not drive car or operate machinery.

(We could do a lot to reduce the construction accidents if we just kept those 5 year olds off those fork lifts.)

On Nytol sleep aid:

Warning: may cause drowsiness.

(One would hope!)

On a Korean kitchen knife:

Warning: keep out of children.

(hmm...something must have gotten lost in the translation...)

On a string of Christmas lights:

For indoor or outdoor use only.

(As opposed to use in outer space.)

On a food processor:

Not to be used for the other use.

(Now I'm curious.)

On Sainsbury's peanuts:

Warning: contains nuts.

(but no peas?)

On an American Airlines packet of nuts:

Instructions: open packet, eat nuts.

(somebody got paid big bucks to write this one...)

On a Swedish chainsaw:

Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands.

(Raise your hand if you've tried this...)

And my all time faviourite.....

On a child's Superman costume:

Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.

(Oh go ahead! That's right, destroy a universal childhood belief.)
