I just recently purchased the new Republic Heroes video game, and I have to say that it is pretty much worthless. However, it got me thinking about Star Wars video games. Specifically, the lack of decent FPS games. While Republic Commandos was a really great game, there have not been any other decent shooter Star Wars games. I know a lot of people loved the Battlefront games, but I personally am not a big fan. The Clone Wars tv series is a great opportunity for them to make a great game. It could still be animated, but with more of a Republic Commando style of gameplay. I think that Lucasarts problem is that they focus too much on Jedi games. While being a Jedi is great, being a clone grunt in multiple CW battles would be great. Look at COD. You are a simple soldier in most of those, and they are amazing games. Also, instead of simply following the movies, they could creates new battles and environments unseen before.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

Well, as I already said here, I'm not a big fan of FPS games. I do however enjoy 3rd PS games a lot, which many games such as Republic Heroes and Battlefront are, so I don't really have anything to complain. And the reason why they aren't making a Clone Wars FPS game, I think, is that the TV show is aimed at kids and FPS games are considered to be rather violent. :sceptic:

I completely agree with you. Republic Commando was a great game, and after I played it, I realized just how wonderful the Star Wars universe turned into an FPS is. Unfortunately, I think Lucas Arts will stick to concentrating on the Jedi in games, because thats what all the little kiddies wanna be when they grow up. :hmpf:

I already made a similar topic here.

I guess if you read the first post, you will know my take on this topic.

Sounds an awfully lot like Battlefront. However, if you happened to have played the PSP version, you have not gotten the most of the game.

Meh, don't care too much for FPS. I'd prefer something where you can choose between the two. Battlefront has the option, not sure what others do.

Yeah we need some sort of Star wars COD. Battlefront 2 is horrible when you put it into FPS, you cant see your gun and when some one shoots at you, Its hard to know where its coming from.

Sorry, but how is a topic on future Lego Video Games the same as a topic about FPS Star Wars games? Just wondering?

Anyway, I agree that the CW is aimed more at kids, so a FPS is stretching it a little. However, the new Republic Heroes game is rated Teen. Also, if they kept the game in the animated form, they could eliminate the blood and realism that makes most FPS games Mature.

Isn't this topic about SW fps's that you would like in the future?

Well, I guess you did nail me on the part of this topic being about SW, not Lego SW.

I see your point, but, (correct me if I'm wrong) I don't believe Lucasarts has yet made a Mature rated SW game.

There used to be this game called Dark Forces that was pretty awesome back in the day. It's pretty dated now, but it was still solid. It was pretty much one of the Doom/ Wolfenstein type games

There is a mod coming out for COD4 on PC created by blackmonkeys.de. It changes the dies to OT and will be adding a compilation of new maps. Here's a link to the mods site if you're interested. LINK

Also a trailer can be found here.

So not exactly a new game, but a complete conversion.

Expanding on JeffD984's post. All the Jedi knight series has a First person view for most of the guns.

While that is true, they are pretty weak FPS games. They are really Jedi games and are designed for you to play as a Jedi.

Oh course they're Jedi Games. The majority of them have Jedi Knight in the title.

More Star Wars FPSs would be nice. I would really like to see a sequel to Republic Commando. A COD type Star Wars FPS would be great too. I can't imagine and 'M' rated Star Wars game, unless it involved a realistic Lightsaber, where you slash through what ever you hit, and can cut people all up.:vader:

While I don't feel the need to cut people up, it would be nice to be able to cut through more things with a lightsaber. On many FPS games these days you can destroy structures with your guns. Why not your lightsaber?
