The Middleman Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Tommy guns. Wow. Dream come true. Bat star thingies, too. And handcuffs. The Batman 'mask' sucks, though. Same for Catwoman. Quote
MattZitron Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Another note...The text of the photo spread also mentions Commissioner Gordon as a minifig and makes a point about how many figures the line will have...which hints at figure packs. So I guess if that's true, Mattell has no problem with LEGO creating little block "action figures" seperate from their action figures like another company does :P It doesn't hint at figure packs at all. I think its wishfull thinking on your part!! :-D We'll just have loaded sets. I really doubt they will, because if Non-Lego buyers want to get certain figures, they'll have to buy the big sets. Quote
Sir Dillon Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Wow! This line is everything I'd hoped for and more! Except that cruddy mask *sick* I'm praying that's a prototype, but I doubt it. Quote
thewrenagator Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 well i'll be picking up the batplane set. love poison ivy, nightwing, killer croc, and scarecrow minifigs. Quote
tophdawg Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 my barnes and noble was out of the mag im bummed. where do you see handcuffs Quote
ChewyLuke Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 on riddler I hope Riddler has his green "?" bowler hat to go with him Quote
Deinonychus Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Hey wait a second...a hairbrained idea I had a while back may be more feesable now. I had noticed how LEGO's anti-modern-violence stance only extended as far back as WWI because of the Sopwith Camel and Fokker Triplane models...so my hope was that in the next 5 or so years if the "modern violence window" is mobile, we might luck out and get a 1920's gangster theme... ...and now we have Tommy Guns Quote
Deinonychus Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Well for those of you who wish to view brickshelf now has pics.I would however ask that none of those pics be posted here for the time being please, a member of staff will let you know when its ok to post them Thank You. Are you referring to specifically the Brickshelf scans? Cause I got my own scans now Quote
reideen1313 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Anyway, Didn't someone say that the Toy Fair would be in London on January 23rd??? Also, for those who blame FBTB.net for not being in a Toy Fair that hasn't happenned yet, let me tell you that the guys there always review the one from New York, which is until February, and if I am wrong, please correct me :P I think maybe you're confused. Toyfare - the magazine, published by Wizard, is where the pics are shown currently. Toy Fair - the event (there's one currently going on in Hong Kong - one later this month in the UK and one in Feb in New York) is a trade show where companies show their upcoming merchandise. Make sense? Quote
gusmoore17 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Thanks for the info Raydeen. I live in Mexico and, well, you see, nothing gets here and I had never before known of the existence of such magazine, but now I can make sense. Thanks |-D Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Well, I've got mixed feelings about this one. Just about every character, from Tim Drake to Nightwing looks great... except for BATMAN!! That Bat-helmet looks ridiculous. Its far thicker than any other LEGO helmet we've seen. It just doesn't look good. Heck, even Catwoman is ok (not great, but ok). When the title character is the worst of the lot, you know something went wrong. I think LEGO would have been better off to make a unique head for Batman, rather than the Bat-helmet. He's going to be in every set afterall. Still, Scarecrow looks amazing! The Batfan in me loves what I see, but I really hope Batman gets a new head sculpt next year. The funny thing is, I think that Robin looks to be the best of the lot! Later. Quote

Thanks |-D No problem - it's a common mistake when discussing the two entities. I see that you're familiar with the Shogun Warriors spelling of my screen name - very nice! :-D What other questions do you guys have? Quote
reideen1313 Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I hope Riddler has his green "?" bowler hat to go with him Good eye - you're the first that I've seen to mention the Bat-cuffs! No bowler hat for Riddler that I saw when I was there in CT. Personally, I'm a bit tired of seeing him that way all the time and think this minor change is perfect for the character. blue&white wrote: Well, I've got mixed feelings about this one. I've seen it up close and in person Blue&White. While it doesn't look the greatest in the photo, seeing it in person makes all the difference. I was really impressed. There's a hidden little secret on Batman - it has to do with the way they pulled off the cowl.... Anyway - I think you'll be pleased when better pics become available. Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I guess I'm a little disappointed with the Joker head (again, I was hoping it would go more along with the 1990's cartoon series), but I'll deal ;) Also, I'm glad they brought back that backpack for Frieze. I wonder what other uses the helmit will have... Oh, and urgh, I hate that EF nightwing hair...it does NOT stay on! Quote
The Middleman Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Alright, I'm going to take a bit of a bet here. After looking at the Batman helmet a bit harder, I think the only reason it would possibly be that thick is that the front is a visor. Think about the KK2 visors, and then look at the Batman helmet. They look just about the same width. If that's right, it might not be so bad as I thought it was. Maybe this is the 'way they pulled off the cowl?' What say you, reideen? Quote
Khorne Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 So, Batman is holding one of those Batthingies, I thought it was a shotgun first. Well, what can I say, I love all the villains + Robin, but I think the others aren't that good. I thought Alfred was supposed to be grey? Quote
Vader Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 For me i just love the figs apart from the Batman himself :/ , the cowl just looks silly if you ask me its far to big. I find this to be the only thing that i dont like about them, the sets themselfs look good and now i look forward to getting my hands on them. :) Quote
RocketMan Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES!!! EDITED by xwingyoda: Tks for the link but we are noty suppose to post pics yet ;) Quote
Hobbes Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES!!! link deleted by xwingyoda Ain't we supposed to not post pics yet? Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Indeed !!! so I'll delete the link (and the other thread) ;) Anyhow, lurking through brickshelf is not that hard ;) *yoda* Quote
Vader Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 Indeed a quick search will enlighten all who wish to view the pics, i hadnt noticed the batcuffs till it was pointed out (good spot by the way) for me details like those just enhance a sets playability. I love the fact that lego has given us tommy guns :oD , this line sure deserves to be respected and the guns go along way to lego proving how much they do and to think this is just the start of the line. Quote
Vader Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 And finally Thank you all for not posting them earlier. :) Quote
SuvieD Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 I am sad. I knew the sets would have flesh colored minifigures but until I saw pictures it didn't really sink in. Flesh color figure are still so stupid non-LEGO looking. I will get most of the sets keep the parts from the figures I like and trade off the rest. :'( At first I thought the batmask was too glossy to be the actual final part. It is obviously plastic and not the rubbery stuff LEGO is using in exoforce. I think Bloody Jay is right in thinking the mask is a visor. I hope they mold a smaller head piece for Batman Beyond though the batsuits were always no neck monsters so I think it works for these figures but the sleek and slender Beyond suit would be ridiculous looking. I like Robin and Nightwing minus the heads, the hair from Two-Face and Joker, the new stick Scarecrow is holding and the tommy guns (though I will use them for space lasers instead). I really like the Scarecrow, Killer Croc and Mister Freeze figures and will keep those. The rest I don't care about and will be trading them right off. I am not a fan of the Bat really so I am not really excited about any of the vehicles except the purple motorcycle. I will get a few of those if I can. The black dragon wings I will also keep or get off of BL. If you are looking to get many of the figures let me know in a PM and I will trade you the ones I don't want for sure. Quote
