Still Raindrop Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Well, the police car that LEGO provided just didn't seem to fit in with the new Rossville street and cars (you can see my ever-so-slightly modified Boattail Speedster, too--complete with minifigures of me and my wife): So, I decided to build a bigger one. This was tough, as I had never built on 6-wide scale. My first attempt came out looking like an SUV, but with my next try, I got this: Side view: Also, I didn't think that this next bit was worthy of its own topic, so I'm putting it in here. I modularized my old fish and chips stand. That is, I made it to what I thought it would be on the modular scale, then added a back and some more details. Here it is: Quote
Ratshot Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 The police car looks great, It reminds me of the police cars from the late 70's and early 80's. The only thing that I can see on the car that could possibly be improved is the wheels, other than that it is fine. I like your fish'n chips bar Quote
Commander Flash Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 The wheels are a bit small, but otherwise, that is a very nice police car. The Fish 'n' Chips stand is nice, but a little picnic table would give it a good feel to it. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 I actually do have a small table with umbrella on the beach nearby; I simply cropped it out of the picture (I'm embarrassed by how my wave attempt looks) Quote
Commander Flash Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Much better Maybe try the ones that are on you and your wive's car. Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 26, 2009 Author Posted October 26, 2009 Those are too big to fit in the police car as it is currently designed. Quote
Commander Flash Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 Then the current design is fine. Maybe grey wheels. Quote
prateek Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 The updated wheels look good. One thing I would fix is that the windshield looks to be a bit too tall. Quote
BlueBard Posted October 26, 2009 Posted October 26, 2009 I don't use to like 6-wide cars but in your case I do an exception Really nice work, specially with the roof and the lights and adding those blue doors Quote
Milan Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 The wheels are nice now! It is a good looking police car! Quote
Legostein Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Hello there! The thing I like best, despite the nice car, is the brick-built fish. This is very nice. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
harrysnapperorgans Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 Personally, I think the car is a little blocky, maybe it could be rounded off a little over the front and rear headlights? On the positive side, the second set of wheels is much better, and I really like your building(s) in the background, nice detail without being so over the top. Almost a crash between Modular and Lego City, which is my kind of building! benny Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 27, 2009 Author Posted October 27, 2009 Thanks, everyone! Yeah, the car is kind of a work in progress, I suppose. It is pretty blocky, but I'm working on that. Benny, you might like to check out my topics "Soda Shop" and "Rossville Town Hall" if you'd like to see the buildings in more detail--comments would be greatly appreciated! Quote
Big Cam Posted October 27, 2009 Posted October 27, 2009 I'll be honest, I'm not impressed with the cop car, it looks really blocky, and I much prefer the new one. But your fish and chips stand is great. I love the dock and water, it's not necessary but really ties the picture together, great job! Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 28, 2009 Author Posted October 28, 2009 I'm afraid that the six-wide police car is out of scale with the buildings. I may have to revert to the old 4-wide one (with modifications, of course) Quote
Badsneaker Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Hello there! The thing I like best, despite the nice car, is the brick-built fish. This is very nice. Cheers, ~ Christopher Me too! I love the fish! Clever building Mariko! Quote
MetroiD Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I'm afraid that the six-wide police car is out of scale with the buildings. I may have to revert to the old 4-wide one (with modifications, of course) ...or you could always try 5-wide, if you've got enough jumpers lying around (Hinck used to be the main 5-wide agitator around these parts, so now that he's not around as often I thought I'd replace him:) ) Seriously though, 6-wide is just too big for regular-sized cars. While it's perfectly fine for lorries and such, it's just not the right scale for cars when placed alongside a CC-compatible (or any other, for that matter) building. Quote
Rick Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I agree with the 6-wide vs 4/5-wide comments. But it's a nice design, but I really like your fish and chips stand. I like that you've kept the fish design on top of it... it's so good! Quote
wooootles Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 I don't mind the 6-wide car. Feels like a Crown Victoria/Caprice - now those cars are huge. Quote
squidman85 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Police car is good, but it is toooo simple,i think .But i very like your fish stand Anywa, everything is good Quote
