Kliq Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Ah, so we're getting a post office or an Erdbeereis chain ice cream store next? But then again, how was FB foretelling GE? I don't see any clues there... I think I get it! Fire hydrant near the right on the box fortold the FB, just like the woman with a PURSE on the right of the box art of the FB fortold the GE! Shopping with her purse! Haha, it is probably a stretch, but it's fun to make theories. Edit: So I'll throw my 2 cents out there and say next we will get a post office! :] Edited January 14, 2010 by Kliq Quote
kris kelvin Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Fantastic pictures of fantastic set And 7 minifigs Quote
peterab Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Now, I feel it's a great time to re-visit Svelte's MOC, and compared the differences between both sets! When you see them sitting side by side it's hard not to feel Svelte has some spooky weird psychic powers, but I thought that ever since reading along with the Train Murder Mystery. I felt for sure the pony would be eaten after Schmelt predicted it. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 OH YEAH (Chef Mundal - Chowder) ! No claws, thumbs up ! So the shopping bags are a 2x1 tile on a 2x1 handle plate ....okay I have a feeling someone we know has done the same with her store remember ? The interior design is good, still with room for improvement. I would dearly love to know what the upper floors have ? Quote
astra Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I think I get it! Haha, it is probably a stretch, but it's fun to make theories. Edit: So I'll throw my 2 cents out there and say next we will get a post office! :] Even further stretched, in that way even Cafe Corner hinted at the Green Grocer, one of the minifigs is swiping some vegetables into the trashcan. vegetables > Green Grocer... In this view I agree with you, the next modular building will have something to do with the post :] Quote
David Thomsen Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I was going to say exactly the same thing about the vegetables in the trash can. Astra just beat me to it. I think a post office is the next natural choice anyway... We've had a place where you can buy goods, a place where you can buy food, a place where you can eat food, a place where you can stay the night, a place you can live and a place that protects people from fire... all distinct themes. What remains: Somewhere that keeps you healthy. (hospital, clinic, dentist) Somewhere that protects your safety. (police) Somewhere you can dispatch or receive items. (post office) Somewhere you can learn. (library, school) Somewhere you can do business. (office building) That covers the very basics, I think, and all of the buildings so far covers some basic element of society. Out of the things I listed, I think a police barracks or a post office is the most likely. And if you believe in these 'clues' they include in each set... the next building will be a post office. squidman85 Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I like the Prince Of Persia's domes and arch's using in the emporium, thought. There are also a lot of interior-that's very good. Quote
GRogall Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Well, Thanks Lego I guess this answers my big question! With the release of 10197 Fire Brigade the sets that where designed by Jamie Berard are now all released. I was wandering if anybody knows if Lego has plans to continue the series or will Lego go over to something else? I'm sure that a lot of it hangs up on how well the series sold! with around €150 a pop i'm sure that most of the people that purchased the sets where Afol's and not so much the children witch Lego primary target is. I for myself would love the series to continue and hope the next three are already being planed. Now we could vote on our favorite building once again? Quote
kinjai Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Wonder if anyone can photoshop all the modular buildings side by side with the emporium in it? Hmm. Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Now, I feel it's a great time to re-visit Svelte's MOC, and compared the differences between both sets! It's pretty shocking how close the two actually are! Particularly the placement of certain objects (mailbox, plant stands) and the inclusion of a revolving door at the front entrance (allthough LEGO's version only seems to have three panels on the door). wackyfm Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hmmmm, splendid! I have to admit that I exited my dark age with the Lego Star Wars but I quiclky became a Modular Building addict and I'm also buying more and more City sets. This fouth building look really awesome but on the first look, I would rate it just below GG (which still defines the standard to me, still need to get a FB though). Everything in this store looks perfect, except the ground floor interior which I find a little bit empty (not tiled floor and and very litte furniture/stand). Wakwak Quote
Follows Closely Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I hate to tip everyone off since I haven't decided if I might go for one extra CC myself, but I'm in the Maryland area, and I still saw some at a couple of the nearby stores here and in Virginia. So it's not impossible yet. Where? Quote
Darth Legolas Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I know I'm not one to collect these things, but this is one modular building i have to have. I've always envied the amount of pieces and detail put into these, but now the interior and the exterior are simply to beautiful to ignore! I hate to kiss away money, but my mind is set! The awnings, the escalator, the chandelier, the whole design is brilliant! Quote
MetroiD Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Wonder if anyone can photoshop all the modular buildings side by side with the emporium in it? I bet LEGO will take care of that themselves in due course :] Besides, call me crazy, but I don't think all modulars (Market Street included) look perfectly good stacked alongside each other. Don't get me wrong, they are beautiful and definitely a sight to behold, but combining them according to their colour nuances with MOCs in between makes even more sense to me. Oh, and... yes, obviously, I have been proven wrong. The Emporium is awesome - even though it could do with a couple of MODs (I love cagri's window washer despite his obvious failure to locate a proper window -- and I share Svelte's notions regarding the "shop" sign). Must have! Edited January 14, 2010 by TheOtters Quote
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Well, now i've seen the pics, i need to change my mind a bit... I hope i can say this: It is a must have, for sure. But i think the comparison here with Svelte's Moc tells me something. There are quite a few people here on board that come up with such impressive stuff as well. It is just that we don't have our hands on the latest bricks and color collection like the designers have. It is a very fancy building with pretty much detail and funny things in it! So yes, i would buy this one the moment it'll be released. But my hands can't wait to start tweaking here! And if there's no elevator in it, i'll make sure to fit one in! Haha. When will this one be released, does anyone know? Quote
Rick Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 And if there's no elevator in it, i'll makesure to fit one in! Haha. When will this one be released, does anyone know? There's no elevator, but there are escalators (only up ) March release I believe. Quote
Legoliner Pilot Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Is that a Chandelier on the third and second floors? Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Has anybody put any thought into a down escalator, there is room for it if you look closely - only slight modification required but I would need to know about the upper floors to say for sure if what I suggest could be done. Quote
Siegfried Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 And if you believe in these 'clues' they include in each set... the next building will be a post office. It's good logic, I must admit! I was expecting a bank though.... Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Even more amazing than I originally thought. Quote
Siegfried Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 'Clues'? Cafe Corner: Fruit in bin Green Grocer: American style Fire hydrant to the right Fire Station: Woman with purse Grand Emporium: Postbox to right Post Office: ? Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Is that a Chandelier on the third and second floors? The answer is it sure looks like it - show the images to another AFOL friend of mine - he said it looks like clear crystals (jewel type) being used. Quote
Jasper Joppe Geers Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Hmmm.. I wouldn't put my money on a post office yet.. The icecream thingy on the left could also be a hint don't you think?... Cafe Corner: Fruit in bin Green Grocer: American style Fire hydrant to the right Fire Station: Woman with purse Grand Emporium: Postbox to right Post Office: ? Quote
DaleDVM Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Great looking building. I love the bland color scheme. Very useful for parts for us castle builders. A shop this small wouldn't need escalators at all so I am glad they included them. Perhaps they sell parachutes on the top floor so you can base jump down to street level? Quote
