Wout Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Looks very nice. New half grey curves, dark green paraplu something, windowcleaner, many nice details. Quote
MightySlickPancake Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 I-spy with my little eye an epic new modular building! Although i dont own any modular buildings i may have to buy this one just by its sheer beautifulness and the dark green parts and thousand other awsome details . just a question: are the top two floors buit as one are can they come apart? thanks cb Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 What's that room/area on the ground floor right behind the cashier? Is that a mirror? Initially I though it's a fitting room but I guess that's the space separated by the round curtain.Any ideas? 'BlueBard' is right - that see-through door is a rear entrance or quick escape with a light with the usual 1x1 tr round plate, 2x2 radar dish and tap piece (though not much backyard). Quote

Pally Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Real nice, know what i'm gonna buy in March ;-) Quote
brickzone Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Nice large pictures. Something I only realised from looking at them is that each of the upper windows is composed of four panes! So we don't even get to see really on the box art one of the major features of the building! The view side-on must look quite different and impressive. I think it means 38 each of the small and taller windows to make that many! Quote
Svelte Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Looks very nice.New half grey curves, I think they're white, not bley. There are bley 1x3 tiles and 1x2 cheese, however. Quote
revpaul Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 As the word "Shop" is too bland and as it looks as though it is supposed to be an upmarket store I think I will just rearrange the letters and call my shop "Posh". Quote
AllanSmith Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 On the photo the is a flag hidden around the corner on the blank back wall It does not show on the box art. Quote

The high resolution pictures posted recently (after your question) really help to analyze details if you zoom in. Quote
lightningtiger Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Thanks 'Grogall' for the blown up pictures. Who ever designed this did the research - downstairs is fashion and tolietries, while upstairs is homewares. How do I know this, look on the first floor - through the windows above the entrance NEW green tr wine glasses that look like those large Bordeaux red wine glasses (I like my wine....and Scotch too hehehe!). There appears to other glasses too, I wonder if there be pots and pans too. Rugs, pillows and sheets/towels.....come on it is a department store. There is a second escalator going up to the top floor, so there is three floors......what will we see up there.....toaters....hand tools....toys.....more pictures of the inside is what we need. I'm going to start MOCing up an ice cream stand and kids scooter real soon. The more I see this, the more I want it......I really like the fire house...but starting to love this department store. Footnote - I have tried on LDD to design a new 4 letter name instead of SHOP....it's not as easy as it looks. Quote

Or you could turn it into a Vietnamese restaurant and spell Pho's. Or make it a beer brewery and call it Hops... Steve Quote

Or make it a beer brewery and call it Hops...Steve I know you could ....but why ? I guess if you purchase more than one and made slight external changes to each....you could have a different building on each street corner.....a department store on one, a restaurant on another.....it's goes on and on. The limit is your budget and space in your home. Quote
peterab Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 US: $150UK: £98 ($160) Germany: 150 Euros ($217) Australia: probably AUD$280 or AUD$300 ($261-279) Hello, what's all this? The UK is almost on par with the US for pricing, and us Aussies, although we have a history of reasonably-priced exclusives, are getting a price that is probably going to be as bad, or worse than, the Finnish and Danish prices. This is not good. The set itself looks great though. Yep, since the Fire Brigade it has been cheaper to buy in the US and have it shipped here. Either get a remailer address, or make a freind in the US :-) Quote

Svelte Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) Thanks for the pics, grogall. 4 such large ones is a little too much so I've changed to links (check the previous page) and also added them to the first post with a credit to you. MCNwakeboard Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 (edited) First post; but I can't help admiring this building! From the initial pictures it looks as if the building has some kind of high ceiling atrium (at least starting from the second level) because I can't imaging the chandelier would be so big if it was wedged in the top floor. Also, I don't know if it is a lighting trick, but the chandelier appears to have a lot of light in it. I'm wondering if a white battery light brick (similar to the brick in the winter toy shop) was integrated in the chandelier? brickzone Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 lisgr: Even easier alternative is simply to use an anagram of shop - p o s h. Somewhat generic still, but better than shop! Quote

This is not good. The set itself looks great though. You'll find that Shop @ Home Australia processes the money in DNK at the bank level. And it is shipped from Europe/Denmark/Germany so I think that's why we get such a high price, due to the exchange rates. Cheaper to import from USA, but watch out for the postage charges. peterab Posted January 14, 2010 Posted January 14, 2010 Or you could turn it into a Vietnamese restaurant and spell Pho's. Or make it a beer brewery and call it Hops... My girlfriend suggested Hops, and those green awnings might make some nice copper brew kettles ...Hmmm I know you could ....but why ? Because the modular buildings are so popular, you see them on almost all Lego train club layouts. It's nice to add a little individuality even if it's a simple mod. Just like your mods of the repair truck, it's nice to see what you end up with, and what others have done. Besides not all of us are up to building something of this standard from scratch but we may be able to change the interior. Quote
gotoAndLego Posted January 15, 2010 Posted January 15, 2010 I hadn't looked at these modular buildings until now, and I have to say I like them. They remind me of the big MOCs that get me excited about Legos. Can you guys help me out by listing the models in this series, and how do you know when they are going to be discontinued to decide which order to purchase them? Cheers Quote
