Alywin Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) its this http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txecm/Ph...uarantyBank.gif Thanks legomilk for the outbreaking news!!! So do you mean actually 10211 is an old-style bank? Rather than a shop? Edited October 28, 2009 by Alywin Quote
lifeinplastic Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I really love the modular line and hope they continue churning out more and more until we can no longer breathe without fear of inhaling a Lego brick! Slightly concerned about the colours though. One of the best things about the modular houses are that the colours are quite 'normal'. I think a yellow house would look far too garish and out of place with the CC and Green Grocer. I hope they mean the lighter yellow colour, which we need more of. The standard lego head colour is too bright and only really looks good as minifig skin - not the colour of a wall. Quote

I thought the same thing about using yellow as a main color for a modular building- TOO BRIGHT! Here's my take on it and it actually looks pretty neat if you use enough grey to break it up a little: Quote
BlueBard Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Wonderful news! Can't wait to see some prelim pics I suppose I can begin to save a bit of money for March 2010... Quote

Eilif Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Maybe the 'yellow' that legomilk is refering to is actually tan? Cafe Corner didn't include too much tan, only the little tower is fully tan, so strictly we don't have a tan building yet. This is possible. IIRC, in "LEGO Factory" Tan is called "Dark Yellow". Still, if they use regular LEGO, I'm sure it will be tastefully done. Quote
Johnnhiszippy3 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 If it is yellow, I'm sure they've figured out a way to make it look awesome - let's just hope they've corrected the problem with yellow pieces : http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=30439 (I have some yellow pieces that look way too green) Quote
Rick Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Indeed, I wouldn't be worried at all about the design. I haven't really seen a bad exclusive recently. But the point that you bring up about the yellows could be more serious, although the worries about color differences of the dark red in Fire Brigade also turned out to be premature. Quote
Big Cam Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 nr.10211 the name is Grand Emparium Ahh, exciting but how can you know all this without any pictures Oh well, we'll have to wait. Quote
Ondra Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 nr.10211 the name is Grand Emparium Isnt there a mistake?Emparium didn´t mean nothing, emporium is IMHO true. Quote
Wout Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 (edited) What is an Emparium/Emporium exactly? Thank you for the news Legomilk. Did you give Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen a cookie on Legoworld? I have looked in the designers corner, but I have nothing seen about something like this. Edited October 28, 2009 by Wout Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Ok, so I may be half right. Old school department store, like a Myers, David Jones or even ones that have closed down like Cox Foys or Birks (these were only in South Austraila. Yes, I'm a bit of retail history nut. One thing, if this is a full blown department store it would have to have merchandise, plus it would have to be very very big to be called that. Quote
Svelte Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Yes, it's Emporium not Emparium - which is just a fancy way of saying 'store'. An old-fashioned department store would be nice. One thing, if this is a full blown department store it would have to have merchandise, plus it would have to be very very big to be called that. At 2100+ pieces I imagine it will be in scale with the other modular sets of 3 or 2 floors - the size will probably be adjusted by adding extra middle floors. Quote
Topsy Cret Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 What is an Emparium/Emporium exactly? It is a store/marketplace offering a wide variety of goods. I only have the first two buildings that were released, so it looks like I'll have a lot of catching up to do! With the way that the modular sets seem to be improving set by set, I am very anxious to see this one. Why can't LEGO give everyone a one year break so we can restock our wallets?! Quote
MetroiD Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Why can't LEGO give everyone a one year break so we can restock our wallets?! Yeah, but can you imagine how much we'd whine then!!! Besides, who's to say that if the Modulars went on a hiatus, they would ever return? *shudder at the thought!* As to the colours - why are you guys being so hard on bright colours used for modular houses? I personally think that those can add a lot of depth of variety if used appropriately... Our Flower Shop was in yellow and I'd absolutely love to build a reddish (classic red, that is) modular house sometime later on! Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 No, I think just a big department store. If you go to the Myers web site (Myers.com.au) , into their 'about us' pages you'll find an image of a 1930 Australian department store. Its big and oh yeah looks a little like CC with its tower on top. Quote
danim Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 here is the photo that you are referring to This sounds like a very interesting set, looking foward to the official photos Quote
legotrainfan Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Hoorrayy! A new corner building to complete the street. The only negative aspect: I must save money to buy the Green Grocer before it is discontinued! I was very fortunate with Cafe Corner. I bought it some days before it wasn't available anymore. I didn't know that its production had been ceased. To make sure I get what I want, I'd like to buy the Green Grocer as quickly as I can. At least the Fire Brigade is nothing that has attracted my interest. I don't like it so much. I'm not going to buy it. I hope I won't change my mind as soon as it isn't available any more. So I'm looking forward to seeing some real pictures of the set legomilk has announced! Thanks legomilk for that information! Quote
CDC Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 I hope there won't be too many windows cuz the actual build might be boring then.. Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Yes, Danim, thats the picture I was talking about. I can remember going to that store to buy lego in the very late 70's, it met the wrecking ball and now the Myer Centre has taken its place, pitty it was a beautiful building. Quote
Dr Kilroy Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Excellent news! I hope I'll have the Fire Brigade until 10211 will be released. :) Quote
GIR 3691 Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Aww man... they just announced the fire station! My budget allows for one modular building a year, so I'll be waiting until 2011 for this one. :( Quote
