Athos Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Sounds like a great set. I'm definitely going to skip the Endor Battle and Venator to save my money for another modular building. So far I've really liked everyone of them. I even like the fire station. Steve Quote
Fumoffu Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Great news. I'm really looking forward to photos. I think I'll park my purchase of the Fire Brigade for now. I like the idea of an Emporium more than the Fire Brigade so I might give this a priority for my 2010 lego budget. Thanks for sharing this news. Quote
Dark Wanderer Posted October 28, 2009 Posted October 28, 2009 Ah, now I've got to get Fire Brigade quite soon. My wallet can't take two $150 hits in such a short time... Maybe this'll be a corner building with an interior, hmm? Quote
Svelte Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 As to the colours - why are you guys being so hard on bright colours used for modular houses? I personally think that those can add a lot of depth of variety if used appropriately... Our Flower Shop was in yellow and I'd absolutely love to build a reddish (classic red, that is) modular house sometime later on! I really like your Flower Shop , but I am a little mixed about the thought of a predominantly yellow, bley and black colour scheme. One of the nice things about the Modular line is the better palette of rare colours in interesting pieces, such as Cafe Corner's dark red roof or the sand green walls of Green Grocer. You couldn't call yellow rare and we just had a majority-bley modular building in the Fire Brigade. As has been noted, yellow is one of the worst offenders for colour quality problems (Anakin's Y-Wing and the City Corner bus looked even worse than earlier sets in terms of the mix) so I do hope that this is fixed soon. Srill until we see pics (and I doubt this will be for a while, as usually the March releases are kept tightly under wraps) this is all just speculation Quote

I like the idea of an Emporium more than the Fire Brigade so I might give this a priority for my 2010 lego budget. While I wont buy the Fire station to keep it built, as the American architechture doesnt fit my European layout, I will buy it as a parts pack. Dont lose sight of the fact that the modular range are rare colours in significant quantities for a great per piece price. I dont think I can think of a better colour combination than dark red and grey for buildings, lots of tan tiles doesnt hurt either. Quote
MetroiD Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I really like your Flower Shop... We'll be revisiting that once we find some more spare time; now that we've got a few modular sets it's high time we made sure it complies with the standard, so generally it's going to be completely overhauled. One thing's for sure though, we're sticking with the yellow/white colour scheme (and the seashells / creeping ivy :P) As to 10211, I have this weird tingling sensation that tells me this set is really going to be awesome. The choice of architectural era looks spot on and there's no doubt in my mind Jamie & Co.'s take on a modular building such as the one depicted above would be absolutely fabulous. For the first time, I'm not even that eager to see the pics, I just know this set is going to be great! Quote
CommanderFox Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Cool! sounds like a Exciting set! I haven't bought any Modular sets yet, but this might be the first. Thanks for finding legomilk CommanderFox Quote

The choice of architectural era looks spot on... I must admit, I share your excitement - the concept sounds intriguing! I was already working on a commercial corner building in the modular standard so maybe I'll change it slightly to a department store, albeit in a different colour scheme I hope to share some pics soon... lgorlando Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 (edited) As always this is very exciting (I actually expected a bank). I like the name Grand Emporium. I expect maybe 2 or three shops in the building. I hope TLC marketing allows for nice details like furniture to sell or electronics products like plasma TV's, stereos etc. Edited October 29, 2009 by lgorlando Quote

I hope TLC marketing allows for nice details like furniture to sell or electronics products like plasma TV's, stereos etc. As is supposedly set in the early 20th century, it most likely won't sell any electronics. I just hope they make it 'universal' enough so that it doesn't look out of place in a 21st century layout. I agree with TheOtters: I would probably buy it without even seeing pictures. Quote
wooootles Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I'm hoping for an upscale department store myself, or anything... upscale, really! Since it's (maybe) a yellow building, maybe it's a LEGO Store! Talk about a twist... Quote
Cardinal Brick Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 I look forward to more information and to pictures, but it's going to be a hard year with the new imperial flag ship comming out. I almost want there to be no castle next year just to make things a little easier now. Quote
Holodoc Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Great news, legomilk! I thought the set was the TRU exclusive, but this news is even better. Another unexpected modular buidling! Hurray, TLC for this great decision in continuing the modular line. Now I really have to catch up in buying the fire department. KimT, do you hear me? Aww man... they just announced the fire station! My budget allows for one modular building a year, so I'll be waiting until 2011 for this one. :( You buy the modular fire department this year and the emporium next year - what's the problem? Pics, we want pics! Quote
MetroiD Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Thanks for the welcome! A warm welcome from me too, lgorlando, your modulars are brilliant, it's always nice to have around huge fan of the Modulars around, especially when they produce such great MOCs! Hope you enjoy your stay with us ;] Quote
Mirandir Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 With my "mental powers" I see a building that is tan and grey rather than yellow and grey. I also see windows that are more dark green than black. And of the 5 minifigs there is one window washer in a typical external windowwasher lift. ;) Quote

And of the 5 minifigs there is one window washer in a typical external windowwasher lift. ;) While this would be some really nice elements for a modular (I'd love the window washer idea and the color scheme), is this wishful thinking or are you trying to bring across some 'inside' knowledge? (hoping for the latter ) Quote

What do we have to do to evoke more of those! P.S.: Window washer in a lift!!! The concept reminds me of Raplh_S' construction works on his Georgian Houses! Can you guys imagine just how cool that would look in an official set... I knew there was a reason why I felt this set would be SO great ;) Edited October 29, 2009 by TheOtters Quote
lightningtiger Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Well that would look very nice indeed, but since the fire house was very USA I would say it may look like a Maceys or Sears or even a F.W. Woolworth. Now heres something to think about, since a fire house came out this year and we are getting a new city fire station in 2010, department store in 2010, maybe something city in 2011 like a supermarket or alike . lgorlando Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Maybe it looks like this? Wow grogall! That is totally what I am hoping it is! What country is that picture of the Emporium located? I can totally live with a creamy yellow (rather than traditional yellow or tan) as the base for the building and some light bluish gray as the stone sides. Jamie B. is good at convincing TLG to mass produce rare colors. What would be spectacular is if the roof looks like the picture you posted made with sand green as TLG expands the sand green line into other brick types like steep slopes and tiles. Quote
Svelte Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Wow grogall! That is totally what I am hoping it is! What country is that picture of the Emporium located? It's Disney faux-architecture. Personally, I think the proportions look waaaaaay out. I hope for something a little taller and more imposing looking than a dwarf-scaled theme park gift store Quote
