Badsneaker Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 With all the talk about the new CC style building in possibly yellow, I wanted to share my yellow CC style MOC: Its got lots of bluish grey and dark bluish grey to offset the brightness of the yellow. I hope you like it, comments, feedback, and criticism always welcome! Quote
Milan Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Oh man! I am speechless! Really...details on this building is phenomenal! You did not forget even the roof! I can imagine how many planning this required! Great! Quote
Legostein Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Hello! The angled entrance door makes this house different from many others and thus unique. Good job! I hope you will add some nice interiour as it still looks quite empry inside. Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
BlueBard Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 As a modular City lover I must say great job! I specially like your work in the first floor and how you've decorated all those "normally empty" places between floors and around the windows. And of course your main display is really impressive too Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Wow! That blows my yellow CC-style building out of the water! Excellent work! Quote
Rick Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Great design! I see clear Green Grocer inspirations here and there, but you still managed to create something truly unique. Any plans on making a detailed interior for it? Quote
Wout Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Very nice moc. The street is also very nice. Quote

I'm not a planner though, I just start building and tweakng till I get something I like. Hello! The angled entrance door makes this house different from many others and thus unique. Good job! wooootles Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Almost a mirrored Green Grocer first floor front, and I think it works well. Also, proof that yellow and grey will work on the next big modular! Quote
MetroiD Posted October 29, 2009 Posted October 29, 2009 Lovely! I actually really like that roof, it's a nice touch! A very American-looking building, at least to me - which should look great next to the Cafe Corner! Any chance of getting a few pics of the interior? Quote

I probably wouldn't have thought yellow would work until I saw your flower shop way back. If you click on any of the pics, it should bring you to my webshots folder. The lower section is only tiled in the bypass corridor on the left. The 2 upper floors were tiled with staicases. No lighting/furniture etc. Here's a pic of the yellow building's predecessor: It doesn't have as much detail as the yellow one, same roof though. Quote
dhaas06 Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Beautiful! I'm planning a modular town as well to go with my train display (I own all the sets already, just no space yet ), and I hope I can pull off the smooth overall style and unity that your buildings have together. Nice work! Quote
Still Raindrop Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Mariko your buildings have great personality! Thanks! I meant more in your size, design, and handling of yellow. We have pretty different styles; I was just blown away with how great yours looked. You really do make the yellow fit in with the modular style (whereas mine is really more like modular-scale classic town style), and it looks just like a building one might find here in Colorado Springs. In fact, I was downtown just recently looking at the buildings and other small details, and this reminds me strongly of one that I saw! Quote
Zorbas Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 Very nice building you 've created there Badsneaker! The small architectural details are great and I really the tiled floor. Yellow works great with the other colors and doesn't make the building look unrealistic. THE perfect building for the greek islands! Quote
Freddie Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 (edited) The basic colors look surprisingly good when they're balanced with different colors, and that without sticking out like a sore thumb when placed next to the official modulars! Both buildings are a bit lacking in details (the blue building being the worst "offender"), but are still inspirational pieces of work with some effort clearly showing. Yeah, these are great. Rick Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 The blue one also looks surprisingly good considering the amount of basic blue included. I like the modesty on the details. A full street with the same level of exterior detail as Green Grocer might be a little too much. Quote
Badsneaker Posted November 1, 2009 Author Posted November 1, 2009 Thanks for everyones comments! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 1, 2009 Posted November 1, 2009 Just love the use of the yellow, it seems to suit the building just right. The realism of these CC style buildings are mind blowing, I think some of you with these beautiful designs are pushing lego harder to create even more actuate and highly detailed sets, which again pushes all of us to go further taking a hobby to an art form.
