I remember when I was a kid, I had one Technic catalog that came with 8868, there was picture of 8857 from behind!

What a beauty. It looked fat and powerful. Like a big bike should look like, after all!

Great set. great look, great bike!

Don't have the set, but built the model using the parts I have and it certainly is a very nice design.

I didn't understand what this was supposed to be as a kid, and only found out many years later. Definitely one of the more obscure concepts TLG has used for Technic. It was probably the first Technic set where they really focused on the looks though. It has a lot of cosmetic details compared to earlier Technic sets. Even the chain is a decoration, as it doesn't connect the drivetrain to anything.

It used to be pretty cheap on ebay too, at least a few years ago. I got two unopened ones for about $40 each at some point.

That would be this one, right?

CP5670, Sorry, but I do not understand what are you saying.

A kid means 9 years old...

That picture is 8857, the same one in this topic, right?

I was just pointing out the particular 8857 picture you were referring to. I have a whole bunch of the 1993 Technic catalogs with that picture.

Ah, I think thats the year of the catalog! :classic:

And yes, that is the picture. Although, I think it had this little detail shot, and small picture of B model, like this:

Vroom Vroom....

I will try to take a shot of the catalog!

I had this set when I was younger, I think I got it for my 11th birthday. I still have all the parts for it somewhere so I might build it back up again now.
