Legostein Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 (edited) Hello dear community! I hope you had a great week and will enjoy your week-end! I want to start into the week-end by sharing the latest addition to the growing collection of Star Trek miniatures with you. The ship is mentioned in the movie Star Trek II (Wrath of Khan) and the TOS episode "Space Seed". It's the DY-100-class transport vessel out of which the "Botany Bay" is probably the most well-known of its class. It's a nuclear-powered ship of pre-Federation times. After having drifted in space for 200 years, the Botany Bay was finally found by Kirk and the Enterprise. To keep a long story short, the passengers of the Botany Bay, Khan Noonien Singh and his genetically manipulated crew were finally exiled on the planet Ceti Alpha V. The rest of the story can be seen in the movie (topic title is a quote by Pavel Chekov). I thought it would also be nice to have some more non-saucer ships in the collection, so I gave it a try. It's actually pretty simple but turned out nicely. The more complex Star Trek vessels are usually those of the major aliens, such as Klingons, Cardassians, etc. Botany Bay Miniature and instructions on BrickShelf The front section is SNOT induced by a neck bracket. The resulting half plate height is compensated by two jumper plates which also serve as part of the bridge layout. -------------------- The Botany Bay is the 30th Star Trek mini model, and as I haven't shown any of them here yet, I'd like to give a short summary if allowed. I chose the 6x6 dish as standrad sacuer size, and that's why the models are quite small. Let's start with the aliens this time as they are more colourful. There are Klingons, Romulans, Cardassiansa and Ferengi. Then there are the large Federation cruiser like Akira, Constellation, Excelsior, Galaxy, Miranda and Nebbula (and many more in the gallery). Then there are the Federation small craft, like the Danube-class Runabout (which is quite detailed and tricky for its size), and the typical shuttles of type 15 and 7 for example. -------------------- With that I'm done for now. Thanks for stepping by, and I wish you a great week-end! Cheers, ~ Christopher Edited October 30, 2009 by Legostein Quote

Milan Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 Great! I like your creations. It is nice how you create recognizable shapes out of so limited number of pieces! Quote
Commander Flash Posted October 30, 2009 Posted October 30, 2009 These minis are getting better and better! It looks excellent, and I love the green ones Quote
Forresto Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 These are excellent minis. I think they are all very great renditions. The only suggestion I would make is that the BoP's head should be more sleek and frightning. Quote
Legostein Posted October 31, 2009 Author Posted October 31, 2009 Hello again! Thank you for the nice comments! I know I don't update the Star Trek section as often as the Star Wars section but it's also growing steadily, just more slowly. KKKKHHHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Steve Well, yeah, I expected this to come up. I love that scene! Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Siegfried Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Very nice! It's amazing what can be done when building at such a small scale. I like the warbird! Quote
Legostein Posted November 14, 2009 Author Posted November 14, 2009 Thank you Siegfried. That's my intention, to show and motivate people to what can be done in even small scale. See you around, ~ Christopher Quote
