The Road Rally V. Unknown year that I assembled it. But that was my last lego set from childhood Every other set I had as a childhood was dissembled. And prior to 2009, the Road Rally V was my most complete set (it's missing like 2 technic pieces I think).

Well now I am 21, so I intend on taking better care of my lego sets. Of all my new sets, the Medieval Market Village is the only thing I have kept built. But I did stick the vendor sign onto the vendor stand. The rest will be kept as it is with no or super minor modifications. I hope they make more castle sets like that.

I sold all my train and technic about 6 years ago, but got hooked again with the 8285 towtruck and I still have that built, and everything I have built since. I dont dismantle models unless they dont work or look right and then they get rebuilt until I am happy with them. It can be a little frustrating though if I run out of a part and have to wait for an order to arrive. At present I am short of the new differentials again so wont be able to complete my 8258 until they arrive. I guess its about 4 years since I got my first 8285 built.

I just hope they dont make the new 5x7 and 5x11 liftarms in black, as I would have to rebuild my crane chassis again. At this rate it will never be finished, there is always something to improve, especially with all the new Technic pieces lately.

Just over a year is the longest I have ever left a set. This honour is currently held by the Agents Rolling Command Center.

I MOC more than collect, so if I ever encounter a problem with part shortage or colour needs I will take apart my sets to get those parts. If a set is very good I will find it harder to take apart.

I do have some complete 6625 Speed Trackers, but I bought that recently so it doesn't really count. (I did have one way back in 1996, but I took it apart quite quickly).

For the past three years I've had the 928/497 Galaxy Explorer (1979), 6927 Mobile Tracking Station (1981), 6930 Space Supply Station (1983) sitting on a bookcase on display on Space base plates with various smaller vehicle sets.

In recent years I got my LEGO out of storage/Dark Age, sorted it, and bought replacement bricks for those sets I'd owned since the early 1980s. I loved the Classic Space sets when I was younger, and I probably love them even more now :classic:

Blackseas barracuda.

I built it when I got it in Minneapolis at my grandmas house. Brought it completely assembled in a car for 9 hours home, and then it was left in tact until last year when I took it apart and cleaned all the bricks,

So 19 years.

I kept the 8480 Technic Space Shuttle (with some minor modifications) assembled for something like 5 years (2000~2005.) In fact a good portion of the fuselage is still sitting in my brick boneyard.

As for MOCs, that all depends on how you count. A mini-scale submarine I originally built in 1997 evolved through 2005 into this.

It remains intact to this day (on a different stand and long overdue for dusting.) So 4 years or 12 years depending on your point of view.

For me the set that I've had the longest is probably a Sopwith Camel I bought in 2003. That's still more-or-less in one piece, although currently stored in a box. My oldest MOC goes back at least 14 years, although I too have kept updating it (the last time is about one-and-a-half years ago )

I have several other MOCs that are close to ten years old.

Cheers,

This is a very interesting question. Most of my early sets got taken apart at some point, although most sets that I have purchased are put together now (most of my MOCs come from pieces ordered elsewhere). The first set that I know never got taken apart would be 6268 Renegade Runner from 1994, so at least 15 years. It's possible that I have had sets put together longer, but I can't remember for sure.

WOW some of you have had sets made for ages! :oh:

I made my 6205 V-wing, abit differently, about a year ago. My brother keeps nagging me to change it back to how it used to be.:grin:

According to Peeron this set http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/1552-2 is from 1972 so... that would be 37 years. I can not swear to not dissambling it some time in the early yers but it has been assambled for most of that time and definately since 1980 or something. I have more sets that is from the same timeframe but they have been stored dissasembled and then been build again in recent years (1995- something).

In terms of sets: I bought set 6335 on april the 22th 1996, assembled it the same day and never took it apart. So that'll be 13 years 6 months and 13 days...

I still love the design and it hasn't yellowed.

I also bought the Sopwith Camel in 2003, like RalphS, and suspended it from the ceiling where it still hangs, together with the second Sopwith Camel I bought when the price suddenly dropped to 15 euros in (I believe) 2005.

That must be the second longest time I kept (and still keep) a model built.

In terms of MOC's, my much improved and changed Chevy Bel Air is the oldest built model I have. I made major changes over the years but the chassis is still the same since 1999.

My previous entry was the Black Seas barracuda for 19 years but I did not realize that the Galaxy Trekkor is even older.

6808 Galaxy Trekkor 1987 taken apart 2009 So 22 years, wow.

Black Seas Barracuda for me too. My father bought it for me in 1990. I built it the same day I got it and till now it's still kept intact from the very first time it was built.

The main reason is that after some time I had lost the instructions :cry_sad: and I was scared at the thought that I wouldn't be able to build it again. I treated it like gold to be precise, so don't worry, it's still almost dustless. Toothbrush is not just for teeth.

Looking for the BSB instructions online last year was the reason to put Dark Ages behind me.

So, 19 years. :cry_happy:

Suddenly I'm feeling old now....

Did you ever find the instructions? I luckily have mine in tact, and if it's not available, I'd be happy to copy them into a PDF and share it with the EB community.

To my great relief and happiness :sweet: I did, along with some other sets instructions I was missing. But even now that I have the instructions, I haven't yet disassembled it.

Good to read that more BSBs around the globe are still as their Legobox gave birth to them.

Thanks for your great interest Big Cam! :classic::thumbup:

This one. Intact, but in a box currently. It'd shown a lot of wear and tear before I put it away. The bricks were yellow, and the painted patterns were mostly worn away. The only thing I did to put it in the box was take down the flag and the other things on the roof.

If that doesn't count, I still have a lot of small vehicles that are still intact that I've never taken apart, but that are also all shelved away in boxes (or maybe they're all in just one box).

Wow, I think the longest I've ever kept a set together is maybe 2 or 3 weeks, and that goes back to even my childhood. Usually after a couple of days, my sets get disassembled and and become fodder for tinkering. You guys (and gals) that are able to keep sets together for years and years .... that is impressive!
