DNL Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 The Colossal Castle Contest on Classic-Castle has started again, and here is my first entry: More pictures on flickr all the pictures on brickshelf Quote
Sir Dillon Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Wow, you have really gone all out on this one. Fantastic work. I think the castle itself is one of your best builds, and the surrounding landscape and buildings just adds that much more to the whole creation. Well done indeed. Quote
Stevex Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I really love castles on mountains, and that it got a village on the side. That's just too great Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Plain speechless. DNL, your castle creations are always very impressive, and no doubt about it, this is just so incredible, especially the detailed landscaping that you have put into the surroundings. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 W O W That is immaculate. The amount of detailing is just crazy. All the forestry and as if the castle wasn't enough you have that little village area. This is most impressive, excellent, excellent job!! My hat's off to you! Quote
UsernameMDM Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Wowzer-Meowzer! That's pretty hawt. I really, really like the Tudor style pieces. Very cool colors and detailed. Quote
Etzel Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Amazing work, DNL The castle structure is very interesting with walls here and towers there and lots of details everywhere I've always liked your landscaping skills and you don't disappoint me with this MOC, really good wotk on those cliffs and trees. I'm very curious about those coiling green plants in the lower part of the third picture, are that those plastic pieces that comes with this plant piece that you normally just throw away? If so, very clever use! Quote
Rick Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Truly amazing. I like that you use your 'signature banner' in most of your creations. This certainly is 'collosal'... good luck in the contest! Quote
Sir Gecko Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 DNL, that just astounding. All the rocks, just wow. Quote
mikey Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 This is just epic, very beautifull and organic. The way the castle sits and curls around the landscaped rocks is so realistic. The hints of Tan, Dark Blay and Sand Green sit perfectly into the walls. An inspiration to us all. Quote
Wout Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 The Colossal Castle Contest on Classic-Castle has started again, and here is my first entry: How many castles are you gonna make after this one? Great work. A great castle, a nice village, the landscaping is also good and there's even some action by the attack of the brooke Kraken and the space police III bandit who tries to pickpocket someone. Quote
Batbrick Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 This is more beautiful than words can express DNL, this is the best creation I've seen from you! Love the rock effect across the castle, some mocs don't get it right but this is sheer perfection. The little village outside complete with mini-forest is fantastic, I love that a lot of your mocs are not limited to just a castle. However, of course, the castle here is the main attraction and the best bit, the enormous towers that jut up higher are wonderful, my favourite part of them is the arches. The buildings wedged between really work too. The front lower section of the castle is not quite as impressive, but still built very, very well. Of course the fact that this is so good and the fact that this is only your first for the competition makes me practically give up as a mocer Batbrick Away! Quote
Milan Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I am speechless, looking to this masterpiece! Wow and wow and wow! One of the best Castle MOC ever! The trees, the village, and of course, the big one! Beautiful MOC, man! Quote
gormadoc Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 This is a most spectacular castle indeed, well done. I just like the raised feel it has and that it is built into the rock. The gatehouse is pretty nice to. Overall a fantastic build with a great design indeed, well done. Quote
CommanderFox Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 AMAZING MOC DNL I love the rock and the walls and well the Whole thing!!! Very well done! CommanderFox Quote
BrickPerfection Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Wow this is awesome and very realistic looking indeed. It makes me regret concentrating on shipbuilding in a way, but that's just my problem. Your MOC's awesome. I esspecially like they way you did the rocks; not always seeming straight which gives the a very natural appeareance. Though I wonder, classic castle doesn't seem to belong to Eurobricks? So the content is probably also on another site? Perfectionist Quote
Sir Dillon Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Though I wonder, classic castle doesn't seem to belong to Eurobricks? So the content is probably also on another site? Yes, see here: Classic-Castle's CCCVII Quote
GC8Monkey Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 It is really difficult to add to all the great comments from everyone else. I'll try. Simply beautiful design. The castle sits so naturally on the rocks. It truly belongs there. My favorite part has to be the small courtyard in the castle. All the little details. Also I really like the realistic layered look of the walls. Some of the wall recesses are very subtle but really add alot to the castle. Simply put. Very beautiful work. Cheers! Quote
Commander Laquiet Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 This is incredible! And massive! One of the most brilliant things I have ever seen! I am in awe of your landscaping work. All the rock is fantastically done. The village outside the castle itself looks amazing too. An amazing creation! Quote
kris kelvin Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 This is massive True, magnificent castle. You have built it very quickly Quote
Ratshot Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 Amazing, amazing, truly truly amazing. The details are incredible, Wickedly great job  Good Luck in the contest Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 That's a totally awesome MOC, DNL! I really it! The architecture of the buildings, the landscape and all these details included look absolutely realistic and stunning! The only thing I do not like are the tentacles coming out of the water. Otherwise it's perfect! The most I like the framework buildings, the cross arrow slits, the artful decorated windows and all that additional civilian landscape (the desgin of the fields and trees if amazing!). A real masterpiece of Lego art! Very, very well done! Btw: Did you have some pics of a real existing castle as antetype or did you "only" build how you wanted to look it like? Did you plan the castle and the landscape before building it? How long took it to build the whole layout? Klaus-Dieter Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 This is a mammoth creation DNL! You have raised the bar for castle building for sure. So many nice details to absorb on the walls. The rocks are great and the foliage is nicely varied as well. I love the little village and the Tudor style room on the castle walls is a nice use of brown, white and black. Good stuff and good luck. Quote
Outer Rim Emperor Posted November 6, 2009 Posted November 6, 2009 Wow the detailing on this castle blows my mind! I really love that grey/dark grey mixture in the castle walls. Those plants and greenery really help this scene pop out. Great work! Quote
martin8721 Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Wow! That's the most beautiful and most awesome castle I have ever seen! Sooo many details - and each time viewing it, I am exploring something new (especially windows and rock-connections). Great! Quote
