Hello everybody! :classic:

You perhaps remember this petition for the comeback of the awesome Western theme? In the last years some of you did post a lot of awesome ideas for new Western sets. So Bonaparte asked me to write a little report about which new Western sets the Eurobricks' Western fans community would like to see - and I did so.

Many thanks to TheBrickster for helping me a lot with adding some more aspects from a second topic and improving my (regrettably very bad) English!

You can download the result here: Report - Ideas for new western sets

Either Bonaparte or CopMike will hand this report over to TLG at their next ambassador meeting.

So even many thanks to Bonaparte for managing this (although he has surely already a lot to do as ambassador of Classic Pirates)!

Let's hope that TLG will answer our prayers.

I hope that you are content with our work - comments are welcome! :classic:

Very nice! i know that LEGO already has a mold for a buffalo, but they discarded it when designing the original theme. if you're wondering how i know this i found it in another thread, only it was about pirates and they also had a picture of an old pirate design. when i went to the flickr page it was on, i found the western pics. i also heard that it was in some kind of magazine thats popular to AFOLs, but i dont remember the name because i dont read it.

Reading this article really makes me dream and hope for the return of Western. Next to Pirates (and in particular the mighty Imperial Armada which I just love  ) comes Western for me. I do own the amazing Legoredo fortress with those cool Union minifigs and I'm planning to buy some more of the old Western sets. But, as suggested in the article, I'd love to see a Mexican like Western theme with a Mexican Cantina, Hacienda, Spanish Mission, Spanish-style Fort. That would all go very well with my Favorite all time sub-theme, the Imperial Armada. Both Copmike and myself will make sure this report gets into the right hands! Thanks Klaus-Dieter and TheBrickster for making the time to write this very professional report.

I would love to see the return of Western. I missed out on the original Western as it was during my dark ages of being away from LEGO. I am in the process of buying all the old western sets I missed out on but a new batch of sets would be great.

Good work, Klaus! I hope this convinces LEGO to make the return of Western. I'd think it be even cooler with Civil War soldiers, like listed. My mouth would be drooling...

Come on, LEGO! Listen to to report, the fans, please!

Nice job KD! and thanks for the words of encouragement Bonaparte and other WW fans. It's great that you guys are supporting the theme by encouraging and promoting the report through EB.

When I joined EB back in 2005, I was one of just a very small group of fans that appreciated the Wild West theme. Over the years, I have seen the interest really grow, and it's great to hear that many of you; some who don't even own a WW set, want to see the theme offered once again. I see so much that LEGO could offer as part of the theme, as mentioned in the report.

Old Mexico, Civil War, Ghost Town, to name just a few.

KD and other WW fans: thanks for keeping the interest alive by this article, WW mocs, and topics. Regardless of what LEGO does, the theme will never die unless we let it.

Long live the Wild West!

YEAH WESTERN BACK!!! Along with pirates :pirate: it was one of my favorite themes when i was a kid but then it ended before i got any cowboys :hmpf_bad: i have some indians though and i have been waiting for it's return- well at least one wild west set will appear next year :classic: in Toy story theme (btw :sceptic: strange choice by lego to do toy story sets) it have scrappy toystory figs but sheriff's office, jail and gold mine- still it would be nice to see new wild west sets - with new colors like dark tan and new parts like a mule (should be in Potc sets also :pirate: )so lego do the potc theme- continue sw-licence more indy-sets and bring THE WESTERN BACK!!!

THE WESTERN BACK!

I love wild west idea for lego but never been fully happy with what we had.

My problem with it was the sets... Because you can have many different sets like canyon, gold mine...blah blah blah... i felt the one thing missing was a whole town... you had a bank, a jail and i think an outpost but to me it wasnt enough for a city...

If Wild West was to return. I would love to see a bigger collection within the city. Personally from a marketing point it would make sense because you could introduce a town set to see how popular it is, then expand beyond it with all the outside town ideas.

To get a good town dynamic. you need about 9 Buildings.... possibly in sets of two or three.

My idea would be as follow for the town.

1. The Farm

2. Blacksmith's & Livery

3. Sherifs Office, Bank and City Hall

4. Church & Funeral Store

5. Saloon & General Store

Thank you all very much for your nice comments and your encouragement! :classic:

And many thanks to CopMike for for delivering our report to TLG!

Like TheBrickster already mentioned I, too, am really happy to see how our Lego Western fans community has been growing in the last months with many new members admitting their like of Wild West sets and with showing lots of awesome Western MOCs.

I hope that this petition will open TLG their eyes that Western is still popular - even among kids - and that there is a whole bunch of ideas which could be made real.

Like it was already mentioned some sort of exclusive Western town set (e. g. a bank, a sheriff's office, a saloon, a stage coach, a covered waggon and a lot of accessory and minifigs) would be a great opportunity to test how big the interest in this theme really is.

(I know that there'll be two Western sets in the Toy Story line - but that really does not give any clue about the popularity of a new Western theme: 1. Many Toy Story fans will buy these two TS Western sets but only since they belong to Toy Story. 2. Many real Western fans will not buy these two TS Western sets since they are licensed and do not fit with the regular non-licensed Western theme.)

Thanks for writing out the report guys. It looks good.

It is neat to see the Wild West theme fan base growing, but I do have to wonder how popular the theme would be with children outside of the United States. Do you think that kids in other continents are interested enough in such an American theme for it to be successful?

I'm not an American as I live in Europe and I'm for sure interested in Wild West. You could bring the same argument for castle as there are no castles or medieval history in the US. Yet, castle is very popular in the US. Indians, cowboys and wild west are so well known all over the globe that their location doesn't really matter IMO.

I agree as well. While movies and television have a huge impact on what kids want to play with, parents encourage their kids to play with what they enjoy as well. Wild West is classic , and "all things classic" seem to be in high demand these days. Plus, westerm-themed toys are very "playable", making them fun for kids.
