I mean how useful it may be to ask question if we do not have the answers of previous ones ? It's just useless : For example, jipay ask about LEGO financial but this have been yet answered by jake during GlobalAFOL1 : here the begining of the transcritpion of the chat : "Tomas Tordrup says: is Lego Failing now? sorry for the direkt question... Are Lego sales up or down this Year? Is LEGO hitting its numbers now? I'm not really sure to tell you the truth. That's not really something that I'm all that aware of. But that said, it's really really difficult to know how you're doing in the course of a year overall until the very end of the year. Toy companies in general make something like half of their money that they'll make in the entire year, they make in the last quarter of the year, so October/November/December....." End of quote So I have a question for Jake : How do he think GlobalAFOL is managed ? I mean is he aware that finally GlobalAFOL is just a (friendly) talk beetween him and a very few (lucky ?) people ? Asking questions and having no feedback is simply useless and wasting time. The answer is to this problem is partially this thread. Now my question is not a good example since I knew about this answer but I hope Jake to have updated infos about TLC financial health. And not to mention we are not the only one present to global AFOL, but we are almost the only one website to give people the opportunity to ask their questions. This requiers a strong organisation, something that cannot be created in one day, especially when you are dealing with other stuff beside *satis*

In fact Freelug does the same you do but, surprinsingly , most of our members just don't ask question....they are not aware of the opportunity Jake is offering them, eventhough Yann (our secretary) have posted a message on our member mailing list some weeks ago. "This requiers a strong organization" You are perfectly right. For example, the first transcription of GlobalAFOL was more than 30 pages (yes more than 30 !!). You just can't translate all the talk. What does that mean ? That means the job is too hard to be accomplished rapidly (efficiently) and that GlobalAFOL won't work this way...maybe it just won't work at all ?. The LUGs core members just can't give efficient feedback to their members in the long term. All these remarks are just to underline the problems....I'm very thankfull to Jake and community members attending GlobalAFOL for their efforts. Didier Enjary

If you talk about the english transcription of the talk with jake, all freelug members have access to it (the first one) : it has been published to the french community. But there also stuff wich isnt supose to get out. Why? Well sometings are only at start up or ideas, so Lego or webistes will not have people discuss something that are in the starting stages. You know alot of people can disusss things to death. And some Ideas stays Ideas, and never going to be something... It must be a mistake by the french community......

ApophisV Posted September 22, 2004 Posted September 22, 2004 sorry, but i hadn't seen your post, it looks like we've posted at the same time... :P to be honest: what is the point of that meeting? those meetings were made to connect and to inform all the lego communities around the globe, right? if there is anything said, who has use of it? the guy participating? why may HE know something others may not know? there isn't any sense in it from my POV. informing some honored and more or less carefully selected people about news concerning lego, if those people may not share the news with others (not even with the staff of the sites they are coming from!!!!)... thats just ridiculous... i have no idea what was said in the meetings so far... please dont take this as an offend, i just dont know what i shall think about it anymore.... if there were at least a summary that is published to everybody (in the communities), this would make things more clear... and another thing is: where do you (the participating guys) know from, what can be said and what is still secret? is jake saying things like "now, the next point may not be said anywhere!" or does he say "well, feel free to publish the next point!" in my opinion those meetings are a) useless or b) the whole system should be improved much

And they think that since we are Lego webmaster/administrators, we should know about Lego ;) Like in all other companys there are alot of new thinking at Lego... And they need to hear if they are good or not. The Meetings are also to bring the websites together, one of Jakes concerns have bin that people are not getting there best out of there sites. And by working together comunity can be as one... Ofcause its also easyer for Jake to inform if there are any news, instead of email every single website. There are no news at theese times, very slow period for Lego and its fans. But I get an mail when there news to the comunity. So I can post it here, So keep a watch At EuroBricks.com (cheap plug iknow sorry). Jakes sends the mail once, and all get the news, good and simple.... No one is left out... There are sites thats not on the list, but thats because the have choosen not to work together with Lego. Let me point this out: No one but websites at the meeting are supose to read it. If Jake whants something posted, he will email us... Again the reson that it seems for you all that nothing happends, is that it is a really slow time for Lego news. My self for once are working hard, for there is no elite among the Websites, im my mind all sites should have the same fair chance. And everytime I get the chance, I try to balance America vs the rest of the wold. No offence to America but right now there is an bad balance between the opitunities for a Lego fan in the US, and a fan from the rest of the world. This I think is bad for the Lego fan who love's his toy, but it is also bad for the Lego Company, when ther customers is angry at them.... I have gotten alot of respons and thanx for asking Jake some of the very tuff questions: "is Lego Failing now? sorry for the direkt question... Are Lego sales up or down this Year?" Is one of them.. For me the meetings are good, websites can work together, Lego can try ideas, and people can ask... One thing I whant to make perfectly clear: The questions that asked by you, will get an official reply, meaning I can post it. Thats all for now, hope you could use it...

Just about the fact the transcript has been published (among freelug members) is not clear to me (I know that the transcript was not aimed to be published as it). I think it's not so much trouble because a very few French people want to read / are able to understand a so long text in english, but I'm going to ask if it can be removed, i'll be more ok if so. If we don't have feedback from GlobalAFOl that's just because the real news comes another way (Brickfest announce of the dark green loco, Lugnet posts , communauty websites - LUGs website, fbtb, CC...) more efficiently...am I right again ? ' lol, is that not self contradictory ? :-) Well now he can press send 1 time, and it goes out, instead of making a new mail, push send, making a new mail, push send, making a new mail, push send, making well you get the point. This ensures also that no one is left out... If you send alot of mails to alot of people its easy to skip someone :);)
