Posted November 14, 200915 yr I am trying to make some custom Lego parts. designing is the easy part, but I am stuck at cutting and shaping ABS plastic. My plastic cutting X Acto Knife is not getting the job done. (I used to use it on gundam models made from softer plastics) Does anyone know or is already using a certain tool that he think is best for cutting ABS plastic? I am thinking maybe an electric heated xacto knife? Thank you!
November 15, 200915 yr Xacto Knife is my weapon of choice when it comes to brutalising LEGO ABS. Because there is a whole variety of blade types avaliable, the tool is perfect for detailed cutting. Just make sure that you change the blade often though, one session of cutting is enough to dull a blade. Other than that I have no problems with cutting through the plastic.
November 20, 200915 yr A dremel can be used to cut as well with the right bit.-Omi That's what I was going to say, a dremel for the nig stuff and an exacto knife for the fine details, some really really fine sandpaper too.

I have been looking around online but see that some of the good quality hobby tools cost quite a lot therefore, I want to make sure I am getting the right one before I make the purchase. thanks again for the help guys.
