Are the windows on the roof of the garage also the same as the front of the truck?

They seem to be, which makes this set a nice supply for those windows. Unfortunately in trans-lightblue instead of trans-clear or trans-black...

Maybe because the set is rated 5-12 years?

That would explain why it doesn't look like the exclusive modular Fire Station, wouldn't you agree?

And I think you're mistaking playability for emptiness.

Evaluate a set by it's preferences , rather than what you think the perfect set would be.

Always consider age and playability.

So for a set for children, it's probably very good. A set with two vehicles and some rooms would make me very happy if I was younger.

But anyways, I'll take the age group in mind next time when commenting on a review.

I personally like it. I'm not too excited but there are some things that I like.

I really like the way they have used the white color. Having all these "stripes" of white the redness breaks a little and the building looks very pleasant to the eye and doesn't seem too dull.

Another thing that crossed my mind now that I 've examined the photos carefully is the modularity. I believe that with some minor modifications, the building where the office and the beds are in, could be placed on top of the garage building, beginning from where the middle roof ends.It would look like a classic town fire station sort of. Not bad...

The big fire truck is nice. I bought the previous fire station 2 weeks ago and although that the fire truck in it was nice, the whole bucket-thing mechanism (don't remember the exact word ) is very unstable and looks fragile.

Some pieces are also great. The 2x4 tile, the green recycle bin and the net.

Good review first of all, but i'm not a fan of the new city sets. I think that every fire station LEGO has made, lacks a lot. The rooms are small, the features few, and the detail scarce. But, i more or less like the new vehicles, i think they have good detail. I also like the new tiles. Otherwise, great review.

Looks more like a legit fire station than the last one, but I don't like the little baseplates. I miss the days where they give at least one 32x32. Lots of new pieces, too!

I quite like this set and will probably buy one, even though I have the last city fire station.

This one is less asthetically pleasing to me, as the shape of the building seems a little haphazard, although I do like the white pillars at the front.

For me this review has highlighted how good this set is as a parts pack though; the white pillars are made up of 12 of the 2x3 windows, the skylights over the garages are 4 of the new windsheilds used in the city corner bus, the windows in the tower are 4 6x5 panels. By combining the two fire stations, you could end up with a very cool four garage station with realistic interior, and end up with extra windows left over, which are always in short supply in my experience. The net piece doesn't really excite me, though I'd like to see it in grey, as it would be usefull as a fence.

Really Nice review. I love seeing reviews before the sets come out I do like the trucks but I am not a big fan of the actual station. That's okay though I will find something to do with those bricks

I can't wait to try to use the 2x4 tiles as a slate roof

What in the world? There's some sweet new pieces in this set. As I don't yet have a Fire Station to keep my Legopolis fire free, I might have to make this set my first one.

Those new pieces are niiiiiiiice too.

Is that window on the main building the 6X5 wall piece? If it is, that looks slick. If not, it's a piece that's new to me, and I want it at PAB in Orlando when I go to Disneyworld with my wife for her birthday.

Thanks for doing up this fine review. This is the very first review ever done in Eurobricks for the upcoming 2010 sets. I am not very excited with this set, especially when there is many other fire stations appearing at a regular basis, well I don't find this pretty exciting but for new CITY collectors whom are aftering a new fire station in their town, I think this ought to be a good choice.

I don't understand why there needs to be eight numbered bags (most of which seem very empty), though. It looks like only four would be needed.

Also, I have no idea why LEGO would include four instruction booklets - why not just one?

I think the main reson to have the manuals separate, would be for family/group building sessions. As for the bags... one bag per instruction nmanual in this case seems more logical.

I am ambivalent about the new fire station. I have the 2007 one, which is nicer in some ways and worse in others, and I'm going to get the modular house one, so I very much doubt I will get this one. Neither will connect well to a T-junction baseplate without modifications. All the huge <insert that tiresome argument> parts are a turn-off.

I'm interested in the fire boat - are you going to do a review for it as well?

I believe the "system" that raises the ladder is new and different then that on the 2008 fire truck. I wonder how well it works?
