There was an event at my school where the 8th grade band members go to a local high school where we play with the high school band at a football game. And so we needed to remember our music to play, fake it, or buy a stand which connects to our instrument. Well those were the options my band teacher gave us. I added another one showing up to class with the stand. Everybody in my class thought it was cool and my teacher thought that it was inventionative (sp). At the high school all the band members thought it was cool too. It also held up when we marched. The only thing that I islike is that I had too super glue it togther.

Overveiw (sorry for the cruddy photos)

Nice. I played a clarinet in school. I also played a bass clarinet in a small group. It's sitting somewhere now. I'm jealous of your brass keys. It's something I always wanted. :cry_sad: Was the music too close to your face? It serves it's purpose and looks good.

The music was at an okay distence from my face but it did block most of my vision, which was good because I suffer from stage fright in front of huge crowds so that was good but I had a hard time to seeing where I was going. And thank you for your input.

Don't you mean your lyre and flip-folder?

Interesting solution. I'm a member of the high school band myself (trumpet). Having a flip folder is really nice, especially with 20-some songs to play.

Oooooh this brings me to ideas! :classic:

A great idea and well executed, is it sturdy enough to hold 100 paged music books?

Thanks, and I don't think that it can hold 100 paged music books but I only tested it with 1 sheet of music and I am glad you like it.

Nice stand!

I play the drums, but it´s unfortunately pretty hard and expensive (and useless! :hmpf: ) to build drums out of lego.

Cool idea! Shame you had to glue it, but model builders do the same!

Are you going to re-use this for another performance?

Aren´t mod´s and admins usually the ones to say "Do not bump an old topic"?:grin:

This topic isn't even that old.

Indeed it's not! It was still on the first page and the last post was only 2 weeks ago. In this case I opened the page to remind myself to post here as I like to see practical LEGO applications. It just took me this long to get around to it!

(There is no firm rule about posting in old topics. I'd consider a topic over six month old to be "old", and even then it's OK to post providing you have good reason to do so. If we didn't want people to post in old topics it would be a small matter to turn on the auto-close-topics feature... )
