Enigma-85 Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I've always loved Lego. When I was younger I had more Lego bricks in my bedroom than Legoland itself, but you come to a certain age where it becomes almost expected that you get rid of such things from your possession, and you also need money for bigger things (an original Pentium processor, in my case), so I flogged them all at a car boot sale. Well, nearly all of them - to this very day I still have my original Barracuda and Seahawk ships, along with a Spyrian Robo-Guardian. But all of those castles, bases, city buildings, vehicles, and bog-standard bricks... it's a regret I carry with me. Older, wiser, and with a great deal more free space and cash, I've been correcting my mistakes lately, primarily with the impressive new Lego Star Wars series (I'm a closet Star Wars fan as well). One can still feel ostracised though, buying expensive toys when you're halfway through your twenties. Imagine my surprise when I found out, thanks to the glorious invention that is the Internet (I wonder if I would have sold all my old Lego if the Internet was available to me back then...), that I'm not the only nutcase still playing with Lego! It's amazing how a day surfing around the 'net can change your perceptions. So I had to sign up here to be vindicated. I count many other things among my time-killers, ranging from drinking and smoking far too much, all the way up to coin collecting, but there's something sentimental and darned cute about Lego that cannot be explained. Erm, so hi. It's good to be in company. Quote
Paul B Technic Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Hi and welcome to the forum, my own story is much the same as yours except I kept all my Lego technic from when I was younger :) Paul Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 It's great to see another AFOL joining up our Eurobricks Community scene. Glad to know that you still keep your priced possesions such as the Black Sea Barracuda. Well, with today's technology, it's not a surprise that the Internet has doubled our addiction in a certain perspective. Quote
Milan Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Thats pretty much usual story here! Nice to hear it one more time! Welcome! Quote
Enigma-85 Posted November 16, 2009 Author Posted November 16, 2009 Thats pretty much usual story here!Nice to hear it one more time! Welcome! I did wonder whether people discovered other "grown-up" Lego fans through much the same way that I just did, or whether I was being deliberately excluded by some global conspiracy. I'm glad to hear that it's the former... Quote

I'm glad to hear that it's the former... We only recently unblocked your access to Eurobricks. Familiar story indeed... welcome to EB! Quote
