Bachus Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 Hi everyone! I'm happy to say that I have a new (bigger) table for my layout. It measures 3m x 1.60m. In Lego 368 x 144 studs. (pics below) I've only put my collection to it for now, it's not where it's gonna be in the future. My plan is to create a stadium MOC in the middle part. I have space for a 6 (3x2) 32x32 green baseplate- pitch. Another 10 16x32 plates will host the stands. Do you guys think this is big enough for a soccerstadium? Will it look nice in my layout or should I create something else? Here are some pics of my new table: First designs for stadium MOC: Quote
Rick Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 I really like the modulars setup with those narrow streets and the park in the center a lot. It has a nice old downtown feel to it. I also like your stadium modules. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 That stadium looks sweet, especially if you pack it full of minifigs! Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 16, 2009 Posted November 16, 2009 That stadium looks sweet, especially if you pack it full of minifigs! I agree that design for stadium seating is sweet and I really would like to see that built in brick not just LDD. It would look very cool in deed. By the way will there be a tunnel for teams to enter or exit the pitch. You made a good start on your town layout, with an interesting mix of sets. Great work. Quote

Thanks. Well done!!!! It is a big city!!!!I like to wait for your city development! Edited November 17, 2009 by WhiteFang Removed quoted images Quote
Bachus Posted November 17, 2009 Author Posted November 17, 2009 I've done some modifications... The cinema is now in the corner. I think this creates some more depth and looks better. I'm still having my doubts about the stadium. I don't think the scale fits nicely. Quote
WhiteFang Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 I love that City display of yours. It has a very neat setup and I prefer your updated version. Are you really intending to smack the stadium in the middle of the City Center? I fear it might appeared to be large, ending up covering the rest of your iconic buildings. Quote

I think I'm gonna skip the stadium. You're right. It won't be nice. But now I have so much space left... An old city harbour with the Medievil Market Place and Imperial flagship could be very nice... Rick Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 That simple rearranging indeed makes the small streets look even better. Waiting for more... Quote
prateek Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 Great layout as of now. That stadium will definately dwarf the other buildings Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted November 17, 2009 Posted November 17, 2009 (edited) I really like the way you have aranged your City. You have included many wonderful sets. A custom centerpiece stadium will really make your City special and unique. I look forward to seeing the final product. I just saw the no stadium post. I still think your town needs a special MOC at is center to make it more than just an arrangement of sets. Maybe a waterfront/promenade/marina would look nice. Useful Idiot Posted November 18, 2009 Posted November 18, 2009 First post here :) I really like your layout, but I don't think a stadium will mix well with the current setup. To improve your display may I suggest to mirror the roof level of Market Street so the balcony will face the cinema rather than a Cafe Corner wall like it does now. Quote
spade450 Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 " I'm still having my doubts about the stadium. I don't think the scale fits nicely." I agree that a football/soccer stadium might be too big but those stands that you designed are too cool not to build. They would look great filled with minifigs. How about a smaller stadium -- for a tennis court maybe or a small equestrian arena, both more "upscale" than the football/soccer pitch. You could also build an outdoor theater or concert arena that could easily be adjusted for size so as not to overwhelm your city the way a larger stadium might. Go for it! Quote

I've been thinking about that as well... Who knows... By the way: I've just ordered the Medieval Market Village. This set will be a future 'classic' without a doubt and in my opinion is too nice to ignore... Quote
Bachus Posted November 28, 2009 Author Posted November 28, 2009 I've made a new video: My idea is to make an old harbour next to the medieval market village, then add the brand new Emperial flagship and create something like an open air historic museum... Quote
prateek Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Great video! I love how you put the City Corner pizzaria on top of the Market Street section to make it fit in with the other modular buildings It's kinda funny to see the MMV on the other side of the river, so it seems that the village has been secluded from the rest of humanity for the past 500 years Quote
