CMP Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Birthday's in a week, but I want Battle of Alamut, so my parents are probably gonna get it the week after that. If I get Hassassin's Hideout at some point, I'll probably just buy the Hassassin leader from BL or something. No complete collections. Quote
Oky Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I don't collect minifigs per se this way but collect massive armies. No complete collections. Then why post in a thread about collecting? Quote
WhiteFang Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 Okay, here is my complete Toy Story minifig collection! Very nice complete Toy Story minifigs display! It makes me wonder if its worthwhile to collect just the minifigures without the sets or getting the whole series? I am not intending to plunge into this theme completely but seeing these TS minifigs sure give me warm fuzzy feeling. Quote
CMP Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 (edited) Then why post in a thread about collecting? 'Cause I wanna dream. Well, I mean I meant I might have one in the near future. But I do have a decent amout of Castle figures, and many orcs. I also want to try to finish off my SPIII aliens. Edited May 31, 2010 by CallMePie Quote
Eilif Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I've posted these before, but maybe folks will find this usefull so I'll play. I collect minifigs, but I don't collect for uniformity, or completeness. I collect for utility and variety. As for "utility" the goal of my minifig collection is that whatever kind of MOC or layout I would build, I would have enough figs to populate it. Regarding "variety" I like to have as many different minifigs as possible. I have alot of set-correct figs, but I'm more interested in having layouts with many unique figs and I like finding new combinations. Castle and Pirate soldiers are two notable exceptions for this as it makes sense to have many uniform troops, but in general my goal is to have as many different figs as possible. I'm currently at somewhere around 1500 figures, but that's just a guess as I haven't counted them all recently. Here's how I currently store my figs. Dust isn't much of a problem in my house. Most of my complete figs are in these racks ( just built another half size rack) or in boxes with my club layout, though I have alot of extra fig parts that I sort in hardware drawers. Quote

If I get Hassassin's Hideout at some point, I'll probably just buy the Hassassin leader from BL or something. No complete collections. Considering the Hassassin's Hideout is only $10, you can just start saving loose change you've got here and there, and after a month or two, you're the proud owner of the Hassassin's Hideout Quote

CMP Posted June 12, 2010 Posted June 12, 2010 I really got lucky on my brithday. Just barely, I managed to get every PoP set. Unfortunately, my camera sucks, so no pics. Elif, that's a great storage idea. I might just try that at some point. Quote
Trainmaster247 Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) For me I collect whatever minifigures I get in the mystery bags or sets I get here is my collection below. Sorry about such low quality I meant to take it during the day but ran out of time for my design I wanted it to be them all "posed" together. Edited April 21, 2015 by Trainmaster247 Quote

Once I get the summer ones, I'll post a pic of my collection. Keep on collecting! Nice! I have all those, save for the slight variations from the magnet sets, which I personally didn't worry about since they're the same designs, just with what amount to manufacturing variation differences in print quality, though now I kind of wish I'd gotten them anyway. I was glad to be able to get all the non-Duplo boxed retail sets, as well as two of the polybags and one of the Duplo sets, but I actually wish I'd gotten more of the Duplo stuff, oddly enough - I mean, as long as I have some Duplo Toy Story figures anyway, I might as well have all of those, too, right? But I have only a couple, alas. Did you do any army building for this theme, by chance (or do you still)? I wound up getting seven copies of the Army Men on Patrol set plus two of the Army Man polybag, plus eight copies of Construct-a-Zurg (! - I found a bunch of them inexplicably marked down to $3 apiece at one particular Walmart; I assumed they were clearanced, but the same store later got additional copies for full price, and still later offered them on sale for $15), plus 14 (IIRC) of the Pizza Planet Alien polybags, as well as at least one of every other regular set with PPA minifigures, so I have over two dozen of each of this theme's two different major types of Little Green Men. I was actually thinking of posting a "Show your armies!"-type thread in the Licensed Themes forum, like the ones in other forums for Star Wars, Castle, etc. armies and other large population groups, only for all the licensed themes that go in that forum, but I'm not quite ready with my own pics - I still have lots of unopened sets for most of these themes (including over half of my sets from my favorite theme in this forum, Indiana Jones - I got a slew of duplicate copies of sets, usually but not always on clearance, to get additional parts, especially minifigures, but a bunch of them aren't opened yet). AmperZand Posted April 21, 2015 Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) I collect minifigs, but I don't collect for uniformity, or completeness. Same here. I collect mostly fantasy/mythology/horror/historical minifigs with a bit of super hero (DC & Marvel) and sci-fi (including Star Wars). Apart from my Uruk-hai army, none of the 700 or so minifigs in my display collection are duplicates. I go for variety and most of my minifigs are MOCs. Here's a small selection: Edited April 21, 2015 by AmperZand Quote
Boettner Builds Posted April 23, 2015 Posted April 23, 2015 According to Brickset I have 1541 Minifigs. That number is not even close though. That's just from sets and CMF's. I have custom piecd together a few hundred to a thousand more. It's one of my favorite ways to LEGO :) Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted April 29, 2015 Posted April 29, 2015 I will only add that OP has some beards on Dwarfs wrong, and good luck on your way guys! I plan to get fully weaponised knights for every Castle Era. Quote
Deathleech Posted April 30, 2015 Posted April 30, 2015 (edited) Below is my collection of minifigures and how I store them in my closet. Not exactly the best for displaying.. but it keeps them safe and dust free. I collect the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit themes exclusively so you will notice that is what they all are. The Fellowship and Thorin and Company, plus some other secondary "good" characters (and doubles, triples, quadruples, etc.): Rohirrim: Mikrwood Elf Soldiers, Lake-town Guards, and Undead: Lurtz, Gundabad Orcs (10 more Gunadabard Orcs coming along with 20 more Hunters from Attack on Lake-town set), and "some" Uruk-hai: More Uruk-hai: Mordor Orcs, Orc Hunters, and Goblins (note the space, I have 20 more Mordor Orcs on the way...): All the rest of the named bad guys, plus Moria Orcs: The 9 Nazgul, Necromancer, and Wargs: I also have a bin full of un-assembled minifigures. They are mostly extras. Edited April 30, 2015 by Deathleech Quote
Legocity2713 Posted May 1, 2015 Posted May 1, 2015 There are some really cool collections here. Makes mine fade in comparison. I must ask though, has anyone done a "Lego Genome Project?" Where you try to put all your dismembered figures back together to their original state. Highly difficult, but I am starting it. I would love to line up all my figures and see them together for the first time. Quote
Deathleech Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 (edited) That's a lot of figs, where's he goblin king? If you are talking to me... he's in a different container, along with the Cave Trolls. They are too tall and don't fit in those shallow cases. Edited June 15, 2015 by Deathleech Quote

Blondie-Wan Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) I really like that storage solution, very neat. Where is it from please? Those look like the LEGO-licensed project cases made and sold by Iris. For some years now they've offered these cases, both with and without official LEGO co-branding; when offered with LEGO branding, they typically have a small molded LEGO logo and artwork of a minifigure head or some other piece of official LEGOS art on the front / top, include a 32 x 32 baseplate, and cost around $10 USD. The "non-LEGO" versions lack the LEGO logo, lack any sort of LEGO artwork, and lack a baseplate, but are exactly the same otherwise and cost about half as much. ______________________________________ If you'll all forgive me quoting my own earlier response to Oky: Nice! I have all those, save for the slight variations from the magnet sets, which I personally didn't worry about since they're the same designs, just with what amount to manufacturing variation differences in print quality, though now I kind of wish I'd gotten them anyway. Since it's relevant to the discussion here I've decided to go ahead and post them here; apologies for my poor photography skills, but I'll work on that. These are all of my opened and assembled minifigures of both of the two major varieties of little green guys from the Toy Story saga: Note the "dirty" Pizza Planet aliens from 7596 Trash Compactor Escape near the back. There are two from that set here, along with one apiece from 7598 Pizza Planet Truck Rescue, 7592 Construct-a-Buzz, three copies of 7591 Construct-a-Zurg, and nine copies of the polybag 30070 Alien Space Ship, for a total of sixteen Pizza Planet aliens. The twenty-one army men here (including five medics) are from five copies of 7595 Army Men on Patrol and one of the polybag 30071 Army Jeep. As indicated previously, I do have more, though somehow I seem to have misremembered the number of copies Alien Space Ship I have - apparently I have only eleven, not fourteen. Argh. Oh, well. Anyway, the rest of both weren't in those photos because I haven't opened all my sets yet. Here are both armies in their entirety, including those in as-yet unopened sets: I got lucky with all those Construct-a-Zurgs! Anyway, whenever I finally get around to opening all of these and putting them together, I'll have 23 Pizza Planet aliens and 30 Army men. I'd love dozens more of each, but I know I was really lucky to get even this many, so I won't complain. Edited June 16, 2015 by Blondie-Wan Quote
Deathleech Posted June 16, 2015 Posted June 16, 2015 (edited) I really like that storage solution, very neat. Where is it from please? Yup, Blondie-Wan has it right. They are the official Lego branded containers by Iris. I bought them off Amazon a few years ago when they were heavily discounted. I got them for something like $27-35 apiece when MSRP was 60? Unfortunately it doesn't look like Iris is producing the "official Lego" ones anymore, and the aftermarket prices have sky rocketed. The $10 cases are $20+ now and the drawers are $120+.. more than double MSRP. Of course you can get the same styled ones without the Lego branding for around MSRP still. Here are a couple of updated shots since a few months ago. I didn't bother taking pictures if little or nothing changed, like with the Uruk-hai: The increased number of Gundabad Orcs with Lake-town Orc Hunters: Mordor Orcs and Hunters with the 20 more (still waiting on 12 more from an order): All the main bad guys, left over Moria Orcs and goblins that didn't fit on the other base plates, and new twilight Nazgul (still need to pick up one more Witch King Battle set to have an even 9): Nazgul and wargs with a few more gray wargs added to the ranks: All the Lake-town Guards and elf soldiers. I have the Elrond's bald because I need to buy some helmets for them to make them into the prologue elves: And since someone asked, here are my Cave Trolls and Goblin Kings: I also have a bin with all the exclusive polybags and promos I will have to pull out and photograph later. I think they stopped making the LEGO-branded ones for a while, and recently started again. A couple weeks ago I was in a local Walmart - the same store in which, a few months ago, I bought the last of these cases I'd seen anywhere (and where they were on clearance) - and they had a whole new endcap of them that they didn't have before, back up to full price, and most tellingly, they appeared to have the same bright green baseplates that have replaced the old "regular" green ones. They had over 70 of them. Quote
