I really need to start going. But I don't know much about that stuff. I wish I could get a personal trainer. I'm 5'10" 150-160 pounds. Always been skinny. I also have chronic fatigue syndrome and Fibromyalgia. Which has me with muscle pains and fatigued often. If I went to the gym it would help me get energy and build muscle so that my muscles are stronger and hurt less. But I don't know what to do. When I was younger I once tried working out a little and I did gain some energy but my weight stayed the same. I don't want to build fat or mass, would like to build some muscle. I tried taking weight gainer but it never worked. I just don't know enough about health and working out. I was thinking of getting a nutritional as I think my health insurance covers it.

The most important thing is: In a case of any medical issues, you should NOT visit Gym, unless under medical approval and supervision.

The best idea for you if you really want to start exercising is to search through your local fitness forums about basic nutrition and exercise programs...

I can give you some quick guidelines, but I need to know your activities, current nutrition and your precise wish what do you want to achieve! Also did you ever workout?

Weight gainers generally does not help...they are basically mixture of sugars and whey proteins, in a 80/20 ratio...of course sugars are of no use for us.

I've been working out several years now. I'm only 5'7"(170cm), but when I started I only weighed 118lbs(53.6kg). After a couple of years of trial and error, I figured out what my body responds well too and what dietary habits I benefit from(pretty much eat everything, LOL). Now I weigh anywhere from 77 to 79kg(170-175lbs).

Since I'm also a kinesiology major, we have to do numerous tests to determine levels of strength as well as body composition. I am currently just under ten percent body fat. We also had a bench press competition in class and I placed thrid :cry_sad: with a bench of 290(~132kg), second place was 315(~143kg) and first was 350(159kg)!

Nutrition for this month, 60 canned tuna fish:

Yikes!

I don't really work out as much as I should, I used to keep committing to a small training regime but it kept fizzling out within a week.

Then I came up with the brilliant idea of simply writing it down on my daily to-do list, a list I've updated for the last several years every night detailing what I must od the next day. And it's worked out great for me so far. Sure, its only about 15 minutes a day of weight lifting and sit ups, as well as going for walks while at college, but I'm keeping to it and slowly becoming less of a weakling

That's a lot of mercury

I have the same problem as BrickMaster, but it's really hard to gain weight. :sceptic:

Protein ftw! Milan, are you preparing for some contest buddy? :]

No my friend, just for my personal pleasure. And it was unbelievably low, promoting price on these cans, so I just could not resist, as that day was paycheck :classic:

How are you doing with your training?

How are you doing with your training?

Well, I've found out I have a long way to go until I really manage to regain my fitness (AND get rid of all this fat!), but things aren't looking too bad. As long as I can make sure I don't get any more nasty falls during training (hockey), I'll be hitting the gym regularly for the next 3-4 months.

Lats and triceps seem to have withered away, just like that. My leg workout is still my strongest day, so for now I really need to focus on cardio in order to lose weight and triceps so that I can improve my bench press results.
