RileyC Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I bet 10 dollars that these will be the chinese indented figs. My source shall remain a mystery. So if you have a source can you share some news about these beauties? Quote
Peppermint_M Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I bet 10 dollars that these will be the chinese indented figs. My source shall remain a mystery. Oh good, that means BrickLink re-sellers will not be able to sell them at extortionate prices because know they are cheaper plastic and moulding, then I will be able to get as many as I wish of any one figure for a sensible price So long as it is shiny and not poison then it's fine by me. Rick Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 We've had some 'promises' from TLG through it's Ambassadors (I'm not able to point you to a source right now, but I'm pretty sure I read it somewhere) that the quality issues - at least related to minifigs - should be resolved. That doesn't necessarily mean they're not being produced in China anymore, but at least there should be better quality control in place. So long as it is shiny and not poison then it's fine by me. You never know... besides: were you really going to eat them? Quote
jamtf Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 BTW, anyone seen the packaging at: http://www.flickr.com/photos/hmillington/4...in/photostream/ ? Is it me or is that also a render? I am not able to recognize whether the figs will come in bags or thin boxes, I hope they come in boxes else it would be too easy to find out by simple touch what the bag has... Yes, the packaging is in both the German and Dutch 2010 catalogue. But now that you mention it... it could be that these packages are "feel proof". They could be like those thin chocolate boxes that you can find in the local grocery store. If you press the package to feel what is inside, it gets crumpled. Imagine that you are going to buy a couple of these boxes and someone before you tried to determine which fig was inside... as a result many of these boxes might have indents and damages, etc... Let's hope for the best and if TLC decided to sell the figs in thin boxes, it would probably be wise to make a small hole in each box with a see-through piece of plastic so you can shake the box to see which sort of parts appear in front of the window. They did more or less the same with the gold C-3PO (small hole) although that fig came in a white plastic bag. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 (edited) Thank you very much for the new pic, Rick! The minifigs look really great! Like it was already mentioned I, too, can't wait to see which minifigs we'll see in the 2nd wave. I bet for Pirate-Soldier, Police Man-Robber, two knights and hopefully some civilians (some kids and some more woman would be great). Klaus-Dieter Edited January 25, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
blueandwhite Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 Looking at the packaging mockup that we've already seen, I don't think it will be possible to feel the contents of these bags. As jamtf mentioned, they look more like a small chocolate box (cardboard with the top sealed together) then like a soft bag. It makes sense if this line is supposed to be a collectable line akin to a pack of trading cards. If the figs were visable, certain figs like the cheerleader, Robin Hood and the clown would probably disappear quickly while others are left warming the shelves. Fortunately, given the size of these forums finding somebody to trade your figs with to complete your collection shouldn't be too difficult. It's very possible that you'll be able to find some local AFOLs making postage a non-issue as well. Quote
angel1802 Posted January 25, 2010 Posted January 25, 2010 I second that motion, though I don't think the blindbagging will be too much of an obstacle; as someone in the other thread specualte, you could always just feel around for the parts unique to your favorite figure! I have to start memorizing the feel of the forestman's cap, shovel, and wrench now! The robot and nurse should be easy enough to recognize... I agree too. Let's keep it as an option IF there's no way to fiure out what's inside !! L'union fait la force ! Quote

Rick Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Brickset has some new info from the London Toy Fair (along with some more 2010 news): [...]Last but certainly not least, the collectable minifigs were on display: both series one and two. They are just so awesome and series two has just as many very cool figs as series one. Nearly every one features something unique be it a printed torso or an accessory which hasn't been available before and (I'm told) won't be used elsewhere. I learned some other facts about them: They will cost £1.99 in the UK. The yellow outer box will contain 60 minifigs. Some will be rarer than others. They won't be available in newsagents like WHS but from normal stockists. Series one will be out around May and series two in November, so that gives us a reasonable time to collect them all. You can't really tell what's in the bag by feeling them as they are quite stiff. And, as the title of this article suggests, the cheerleader has a nice pair of pom-poms :-) Quote
Etzel Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 ...Some will be rarer than others.... Aw, come on! That's a really unnecessary move by TLG. I'm sure these would have sold well enough anyway. Quote
Rick Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Couldn't agree more! But I guess this is part of the 'collectibles' aspect of it, although the price - based on 1.99 pounds, I'm guessing €2,50 - doesn't really fit this aspect... I bet the rare ones won't include the crash test dummy or the diver... Quote
escortmad79 Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 What's classed as "usual stockists" then? TRU? There aren't many places around in Scotland that I've found that stock Lego! Certainly nowhere in Edinburgh now Hamleys have gone from Jenners! Unfair that some will be more common than others though!! Quote
kingcjc Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 Now the question is, which wesite can we trust ? Because Brickipedia says August * Thats because we had it from when we were told August, and before Brickset updated. Anyway, due to the only thing known is that it is late 2010, I have edited the article. Quote
General Magma Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 (edited) Some will be rarer than others What?! Bad move, that is! I mean, c'mon, I don't think many people will get the complete collection unless they are lucky this way. That's disappointing! I bet they have turned figures like the cheerleader, spaceman, and the robot into rare ones. I'll buy a bunch of them anyways, I just hope to complete the collection... ~ General Magma Edited January 26, 2010 by General Magma Quote
David Thomsen Posted January 26, 2010 Posted January 26, 2010 I thought some of them would be rarer, it would be unusual for something like this to have them all in equal quantity. If any of the ones I want are 'rare', I'll get them all from Bricklink. Otherwise I'll try to collect them the normal way. It's too expensive a hobby otherwise. Quote

It will allow us to have (if it's not the whole collection) at least the one we'd like to have. Quote

And to be honest, now that there are rarer ones trading will get a lot harder to do. If you ever get two robots, you would have to be stupid to trade one of them with a much less rare fig :/ I guess I will have to spend all my christmas money on these if I ever want to get a robot :( Edited January 27, 2010 by vexorian Quote
Omicron Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 What?! Bad move, that is! Actually that is a good move. It allows people to keep buying more until they get the complete figs they want. It is a common marketing ploy, and Lego gets money out of it. -Omi Quote
posades Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 Brickset has some new info from the London Toy Fair (along with some more 2010 news): So he saw the second set and didn't remember/list any of the new figs? I'm on the fence with the "some being rarer than others" move. On the one hand it's going to definitely lower the price on some figs on Bricklink and whatnot, but knowing my luck the ones I want will be the rare ones with the inflated prices. Quote
vexorian Posted January 27, 2010 Posted January 27, 2010 (edited) So he saw the second set and didn't remember/list any of the new figs? I think they are probably still top secret so he is actually just unable to release the information. Edited January 27, 2010 by vexorian Quote

Can't wait for the upcoming New York toy fair to find out what the next sixteen are. I'm going to be peeved if they still won't allow pictures of them. Quote
