Good analysis! It will be very interesting to see if the rarity factor will help or hinder army builders. Will the army-building minifigs be easier or harder to find than the average? If for instance the Greek Hoplite were also harder to find than the other minifigs, it would reach unbelievable Bricklink prices. :cry_sad:

I believe they were taken at the Nuremberg Toy Fair.

I'm guessing that the Greek hoplites will be very expensive to collect regardless of how rare they end up being. Even if they are one of the most common figures, amassing a large number of them will be exceedingly expensive. A small army could cost you a relative fortune. Let's not fool ourselves; these will be one of the most ridiculously overpriced figs on bricklink no matter how common or rare they are. I mentioned it elsewhere, but even if these guys are available in a ration of 1:10 it means that if your going with the odds you will need to fork out $29.90 (US) just to land a single hoplite. Imagine what you'd need to spend at retail to grab a dozen or more.

Bricklink will be no better as people will charge a hefty premium to those army collectors who get fed up with singers and vampires in their pursuit of more hoplites.

Can someone tell me where these pictures of series 2 were taken? Thanks

In my living room. (I wish... :hmpf: )

You're provided some very good thoughts blueandwhite. It will be hard to get a decent number of hoplites since the price and the rarity factor will be playing a major role here.

We'll just have to wait and see how the minifig per box is going to be like.

I've been noticing lots of these new minifig peices are quite similar to the brickforge versions.

Of course they are.

LEGO is finally waking up to the fact that people want tons and tons of minifig accessories, not the same recycled parts we got during the late 90's early 2000's.

They also realize that people want to actually afford the accessories; not have to obtain them by shelling out $40.00 a set.

Just as a comparison

BF Viking Helmet - 2003 vs. LEGO Vikings 2005

BF Dwarf Beard/Helmet - 2003, 2008 respectively vs. LEGO Dwarven Mine 2007

BF Cow - 2007 vs. LEGO Cow 2009

BF Pig - 2007 vs. LEGO Pig 2010

BF Military Helmet - 2006 vs. LEGO Military Helmet 2009

BF Greek Helmet - 2003 vs. LEGO Greek 2010

BF Great Helmet - 2006 vs. LEGO Great Helmet 2010

BF Arabian Helmet - 2008 vs. LEGO Arabian Helmet 2010

BF MegaGun - 2008 vs. LEGO Space Gun (as seen on white astronaut) 2010

BF Centurion Helmet 2008 vs. LEGO Centurion Helmet (as seen on new 'promotional game) flyer.

You guys can draw your own conclusions.

This is really great news!!

Wish we could see the rest of the figs as well. Guess it will not take long though.

So many new cool pieces. I really wonder if any of those will ever find their way to the ordinary themes.

If either of the series comes to a store near me, I think I will really buy the whole box.

If not, still, I have some hope that they'll be in a future theme.

This series looks great! Sign me up for both waves!!! It's offering tons of useful new pieces, as well as bringing back some oldies but goodies. This is all around a fantastic idea.

Plus an official Lego Poncho!!! Man with No Name, anyone?

You just convinced me to get some mimes.

Anyone else seeing some sort of Thermopylae battle MOCs thanks to Prince of Persia and that Hoplite? I'd like to make a decent sized force of hoplites, but I foresee them being stupidly expensive, especially if Lego is mean and makes that the rarest fig of the line.

Lego is making a huge mistake not selling it at news agents. No one is going to get them at argos or toys'r'us because they are major retailors. The new wave looks promising, as does the new castle. But is that a new lime green theme? With red bad guys wearing snakes helmet? Where did that come from? Looks like a cross between racers, space police, agents and PM.

I love how most AFoLs detest Bionicle because of all its specialized pieces that could only be used for figures, yet here you guys are obsessing over having more specialized pieces for minifigures. The only differences is Bionicle figures are larger, have more parts, and are technique themed, we also have a story. The stretch between system fans and Bionicle fans is very little.

Anyways I love these minifigures, the spartan guy would work with that summer 2010 Atlantis figure with the Greek armor.

The vampire is very close to the first vampire Lego made though, and the Mexican is cool. Too bad we don't have any shots from the other side, 'cause it's tough to tell what those other figures are.
