Inconspicuous Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Still can't make out what the Karate Kid is holding, but it looks like some sort of golden microfig! I agree, it looks like some sort of idol or statue. I'm not very excited about the second wave, except for the Mime and the Pharaoh. There are too many surfer/pop star/weight lifter type of minifigs, if you know what I mean. Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I been told by my friend who was there that they were not there.-Omi It's a three day fair, they don't show everything right away. Quote
Omicron Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) It's a three day fair, they don't show everything right away. And this is what he says: They didn't have the minifigs because they're not finalized and LEGO didn't want to show products that could differ greatly between now and release. That's what Julie Stern said. This is coming from my friend Andrew Bulthaupt, head Admin of BZP and Lego Ambassador. -Omi Edited February 15, 2010 by Omicron Quote

Shadows Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 It may be a prelim, but it's proof that a green fedora is floating around out there, kids. I want it. You know what to do. Quote
David Thomsen Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) Okay, I've seen all of them now and there's still no pirate. Don't these people realise how cool pirates are??? I think I like the disco guy best out of this new range, but like the caveman, he isn't as much fun without a female partner. And Sparta guy doesn't have anyone to fight... I think they need to understand that themes are much better when they have more than one minifig in them. One minifig is an oddity... two minifigs are a playset. The lifeguard gets a surfer, the cowboy gets a native Indian American... they should all be paired like that. Now we need all the relevant polls... What is your favourite minifig from Series 2? What is your favourite minifig from Series 1 and Series 2 combined? Which Series do you prefer, 1 or 2? Etc. Edited February 15, 2010 by David Thomsen Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 And this is what he says:This is coming from my friend Andrew Bulthaupt, head Admin of BZP and Lego Ambassador. -Omi Then why were they shown at another toy fair? The ones at that one looks like the real thing. Quote
Rick Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Disco Stu? That's hilarious. ("Did you know that disco record sales were up 400% for the year ending 1976? If these trends continue... Aay!"). I hope they give him a cool album cover to hold. It's minifigs like these I like. I agree with Inky: I also am not particularly into the wrestler, weight lifter, surfer, and Pamela type of figs. Some of my favorite ones include the clown, cheerleader, Disco Stu, and the mime. The skier from series 2 looks surprisingly good too. And these don't really look like the final designs: too many common pieces. Two of the same common hairpieces, the cop's helmet, the absence of a sombrero on the Mexican... The 2 x 2 round with one centered stud for the weight lifter looks like a part than can make it's entry in Lego's regular lines pretty soon. The $1.99 looks confirmed though. I hope this also translates into lower than expected euro-prices. Quote
Zorbas Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 More hi-res Scan Thanks for the link Oky! Series 2 minifigs look absolutely great! I would say that almost all of them are a MUST have. The new skier's knit hat looks very realistic and the disco guy has this actual "boogie groove" expression in his face! Even the new police guy looks great! I must find a motorcycle for him ASAP. 1. It says, "among the minfiigures are…", and proceeds to list fifteen of them, leaving out the hoplite. Did LEGO not know whether to call him Greek or Roman? That's what I first noticed too. Dang TLG, name the guy for stud's sake! Girl in swimsuit=super hot! Pam was always hot during Baywatch! Quote
SuperChris Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 Wave 2 looks great! I'm really liking the Mime, a must get for me! The skier also looks very cool. Quote
Aanchir Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I'm a bit worried... the minifigs not being present at the NY Toy Fair might mean they're not coming to the US this year... Oh, well; with luck they'll just be delayed a year like the Games. Quote
Ikki o' Moopyville Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 That Pharaoh fig is gorgeous. And not only that -- we get an equally glorious naked torso, perfect for Egyptian slaves / lower-class folks, who would not have been wearing much but a loincloth. And this torso is universally applicable for natives, low-class civilians, and prehistoric people of hot areas. Ancient Civilization figs galore! :D And to top it off, we even get a miniature golden Minifig idol -- I can already see the Pharaoh wubbin' that. I'll prolly regret saying this... but some of these I want at all costs. xD -Ikk Quote
blueandwhite Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I'm a bit worried... the minifigs not being present at the NY Toy Fair might mean they're not coming to the US this year... Oh, well; with luck they'll just be delayed a year like the Games. How would it be luck for these to be delayed? From what I understand they were announced in the Toy Fair catalogue; they just weren't shown on the floor. Given that both series 1 & 2 have a set release date I wouldn't be worried. Moreover at $2 a shot ($3 for Canadians like myself), these guys are cheap making collecting an easy prospect. I expect I'll probably buy 10-20 in a single go and hope for the best. I was actually a bit worried that they would be priced closer to an impulse set because of the collectability factor. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I'm not very excited about the second wave, except for the Mime and the Pharaoh. There are too many surfer/pop star/weight lifter type of minifigs, if you know what I mean. If by "too many" you mean "one of each," then yes. I love them all and want them now. I'm really surprised LEGO actually referred to the disco dancer as disco stu (sic), even in a preliminary document. It seems like it'd just be asking for trouble, unless they actually licensed the name from Fox, which I doubt. I'm sure they won't be calling it that anytime closer to the release, though. Quote
Rick Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 More hi-res Scan Been having a a better look at the high-res picture now and it definitely are prelims, all torsos are stickered and the skiers face is even coming off Quote
jamtf Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 (edited) Been having a a better look at the high-res picture now and it definitely are prelims, all torsos are stickered and the skiers face is even coming off And the Mecixan has a green fedora instead of a sombrero and an unmarked cape as well. The Greek hoplite has a classic round shield in metallic gold... I wonder if that part will be used again after such a long time. I am quite happy to see that we will get a few Adventurers style figs such as the "Dr. Kilroy" archeologist and the pharao. Great add-ons for the classic Adventurers Egypt line. Derek Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I was just looking at the picture and I realized that the witch figure would be really easy to feel for with its big slope skirt piece + big hat + broom Quote

They even got the Confidential watermark on them. Quote
NorthernKnight Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 I was just looking at the picture and I realized that the witch figure would be really easy to feel for with its big slope skirt piece + big hat + broom Yes, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out which is the witch ;) But seriously I hope TLG don't make some rarer than others, at least not too much. I'd hate to spend 50 euro or so on 20-25 bags just to find myself with an army of divers just because some smart toystore owner or employee has already picked out all those sweet sweet Hoplites and Cheerleaders. Given some time this could easily be done by feeling the bags or by using a small digital scale. Quote

Rick Posted February 15, 2010 Posted February 15, 2010 The stuff we discuss on Eurobricks usually isn't available for another 6 months. And this is no exception... June and September (or was it October?) for series 1 and 2, respectively. Info should be in this thread somewhere... Quote
