ILikePi Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) Wow! I love those minifigs! When these come out I'm so getting the cheerleader (2), the robot (12), the spaceman (14), and the zombie (16). Not so sure about the others, though, as I don't want my wallet to die. By the way, if they allow you to hold the polybags before buying them, you can always "cheat" and just feel for a certain part (like the robot head) to know what number minifig the bag has! Now that I think of it again: another option would be for TLG to put the numbers on opaque polybags and don't actively advertise what fig has what number. That way everyone could prevent getting doubles, AFOLs could search for the fig they want, and 'regular' customers will still get a 'surprise' fig. Feel free to use this idea TLG (please do!). Quote
Rocketbilly Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Wait a second, just read this....£5 per figure!? surely that can't be right? Similar products like those Crazy Bones GoGos and those football cards are what, £1 - £1.50 a unit? Surely this is wrong? While that's a good price to pay for a collectible figure, especially compared to the prices they're likely to cost on Bricklink, I doubt the target audience, kids and their parents would consider that a good price for a single Lego fig, especially since you can get two figures and a small model in the £3.99 range of sets like the Stone Chopper. I imagine something got mixed up? Will/Rocketbilly Quote

That way everyone could prevent getting doubles, AFOLs could search for the fig they want, and 'regular' customers will still get a 'surprise' fig. Feel free to use this idea TLG (please do!). I personally like to know what I'm getting, but right now I'm really glad as long as I don't get the wrestler. I really, really hate the fake masked wrestling. The real stuff is okay... But if they are in polybags, then it's true, we could feel for parts and then it would be easy to determine what we're getting. It's sort of a dumb idea. But the serial numbers are also nice. Quote

Probably going to be $2.5-$3 (USD) because of LEGO being cheaper across the pond. Quote

This is the same approach as in the example trading cards. The bag with the figure will cost 25 SEK. May seem much given to impulse setter costs only £ 5 more and then there is also the accessories" a page or two back in the thread. Now I read it back, I realise an impuse, when you can find them here, is about £2 apiece, like you said Etzel. Silly me! Thanks for clearing that up Etzel Will/Rocketbilly Quote

brickzone Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Guys you take it wrong. You not going to get whole Clown in one bug, you must build it! the polibags will contain whole minifig with random parts! That's really screwy if that's true. Even worse than I thought as a sales tactic. Quote
Faramir Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Guys you take it wrong. You not going to get whole Clown in one bug, you must build it! the polibags will contain whole minifig with random parts! This makes alot of sense, but this isnt to say people will be all that happy about it. This'll only make it harder to get complete collections. Anyways, I love this idea. A lot. Those of you who are saying that this is a new idea that could hurt Lego's image are wrong... they've done this same thing before. Think back to classic Bionicle for a minute. The Kanohi mask packs contained 3(?) random masks, you wouldn't know which you were getting. It was a great idea, too. I remember buying a bunch to try and get a full set of Kopaka's masks. Of course I never did, but it's not like they could tell you which figure you're getting. This way is only fair. If they told you beforehand, you'd walk up to shelves overflowing with diver figures while the spacemen and forrestmen sat there on ebay at $15 each. Quote
Hound Knight Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Ok, I now know where the bulk of any money I get for Christmas is going. Quote
Rick Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I remember the info about random minifig pieces being 'out there' for some time, but from what source did this info come? This way is only fair. If they told you beforehand, you'd walk up to shelves overflowing with diver figures while the spacemen and forrestmen sat there on ebay at $15 each. You'd have to be able to actively trade parts for this to work (kids could do that amongst them, while we AFOLs likely have to resort to the internet ). It makes it less attractive to me, because I'd have to spend €2.50 a couple of times for a random selection of minifig parts and then start trading doubles etc. to get the figs I want, which will likely be the figs everyone wants... Could be good business for BL traders though. Quote
Grimmy Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) Well it seems like Lego have hit on a good "business" idea, but does anyone else not see this as a bit of a horrible evil way to try and take as much money as possible off people? Preying on consumers rather than properly straightforward good offerings for them to buy? The whole chance thing and deliberate rarity just seems like an attempt to prey on people's collecting instincts and love of minifigs. As for existing non-Lego operations like this (trading card etc.) these have been derided for years as immoral and basically trying to steal kids money. I don't know why anyone would want to compare a Lego operation to such things, although it looks like it is a fairly good match for what they are trying to do. Same thoughts here. I do love the figures but they should leave them around for much longer. It gives kids a chance to get them or, "collect'em all" as they say for these products, or at least get their favs and trade with friends. I think since Lego has gotten a taste of the big success with Hollywood licenses, that they are doing things they used to be against. They aren't a company that normally does anything for profit and they have roots that ground them well. But little by little they are going against old roots a bit. This would give Lego the chance to break into other distribution points such as supermarkets and comic shops. This idea sounds like it's inspired from the Japanese toy crazy happening in America i.e. Anime toys area. If you go to a store such as Newbury Comics, you can see people going wild for these tiny boxes with a random figure inside. I have a friend who is into Japanese culture with daughters into Anime. They bought some while I was with them and clued me in on the whole scene. You might have noticed some American toys getting in on the action as well as even the French. I guess they call them Blind Box Figures but they also have Doll House food ones where you can get a plate of cheeseburgers or fruit. Although Lego putting them in bags is a big mistake. These are always in boxes for obvious reasons. I can see the whole Darth Vader Chrome limited edition random drop in box thing happening again. Remember that when people weighed hundreds of them going from store to store? I seen the youtube videos of people doing it. Steamboy Blind Box Figure Opening Look at the shelf behind them and you'll see a ton of open blind box figures on the shelf. Edited November 29, 2009 by Grimmy Quote
Oky Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 http://www.legoland.co.uk/Misc/Collector+B...tm_medium=email Holy crap! Those are some awesome minifigs! All except the wrestler, the diver, and the indian are must-haves for me! I can think of a lot of hilarious MOCs one can do with that crash test dummy! The best thing about these is that most of them will be great to have in large numbers, so it wont matter if you get doubles. I can absolutely not wait for these to come out, and I'll be very pissed if they wont be available in the US. I mean, why wouldn't they sell them here? Kids in America are crazy about this kind of collectible things. I have one question though: What exactly will a polybag include? Is it gonna be one complete fig or random parts of some of these figs? For example, will you get a spaceman or, say, a space-cowboy-clown-cheerleader-magician? Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 a space-cowboy-clown-cheerleader-magician or Wrestler-clown-nurse-with fedora xD as I said, inside you will find whole minifig- but created from mixed parts. Quote
commdr_neyo Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Sorry for not reading the whole topic, but are these Legoland exclusive's? Quote

Skipper 24 Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Awesome. I hope these evolve into some new themes! Is that a zombie I spy? Quote
I Scream Clone Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 So much hotness, hope to see these sometime in Australia, probably have to be S@H though. Whats not to love, its like collectible cards. Hope to open the ultra rare Zombie. I wonder though, if they are in opaque bags a little touching could determine certain figures based on hats etc. Quote
The Penguin Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) Oh, my! ) Those are just awesome! If those are to be released in this or that way in any of the sets, then there might be new themes coming, obviously! I'm speechless! ) Edited November 29, 2009 by The Penguin Quote

But I swear I'll kill someone if these don't come out in the U.S.A! Quote
Brickthing Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 Wow, these look fantastic! I can't wait to get my hands on them, even if they're not widely avaliable. Quote
The Crazy One Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) If these aren't out in England, I would die. I will deffinatley want to get the Spaceman , Zombie , Crash Dummy , Cheerleader , Ninja and Cowboy . One thing though, are these deffinatley not coming out as full figures? I think someone said it was just mixed parts. I hope you could buy them as full figures, otherwise I will be buying 70 loads of these guys at once to garantee having all of them.
