BearHeart Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 (edited) For some accessories it may be possible to make good guesses sometimes, but on the whole it's not a remotely reliable way to tell; the material the bags are made from is quite tough and a little less flexible than the usual LEGO polybag, as well as being completely opaque. Honestly, I think you'd have a better chance of figuring out what minifigs are in what bags by weighing them than by feeling them, if that gives you an idea. However, judging from my experience yesterday they do indeed have unique barcodes on the back, so it is entirely possible to figure out which figure a bag contains simply by looking at the barcode, provided you know what the barcode for each figure looks like. And if you're not trying to get only specific figures but just want to complete a set, you don't even need to know that much - you can just compare bags against one another until you've found sixteen different barcodes, and you'll get one of each, as I did yesterday. :) Thanks guys. I ended up printing the barcodes and got all the figures I wanted: 4 Woodsmen, 3 Natives, 1 Zombie, 1 Robot, 1 Cowboy & 1 Caveman. EDIT: On a side note, one of my Natives was missing both of the feathers. Luckily, each Native comes with an extra one so I just took one from one of the other figs. not-in-use-anymore Posted May 26, 2010 Posted May 26, 2010 The Mexican is hurting my head, what's the design of the cloth? I wish we had better pictures of the ... (I asked what his name was, but he didn't answer and just got trapped in that invisible box again ) Quote
FinalFeature Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 I bought them all and a few multiples of some at the Glendale Lego Store. If you're going to buy the whole series bring some people with you since they limit it 5 per customer. Also Thank You petero for the bar code list, the list works perfectly! LegoGalactus Quote
SpiderSpaceman Posted May 27, 2010 Posted May 27, 2010 (edited) Got mine! I really wasn't confident the Metairie Toys-R-Us would stock them, but this morning they had 2 full boxes. now the pickings are slim. It'll be ok for Crash Dummy fans though. Apologies to other New Orleans AFOL's. Please don't hunt me down I just got myself a single set, some dad bought a box, my brother got what he could find of the ones he wanted, I got 3 random bags for the little sisters to share. I still need my Mexican Wrestler though... accidentally grabbed duplicate divers. feeling through the bags is ridiculously thrilling. 'ooh OOH ANTENNA! robot! I have a robot!' 'syringe! haHA!' 'BEARD! oohoohoo yeeeeeeeeessss' definitely the fun way. and it worked really well. just not for the accessory-free wrestler. the only problem was i lost track of which were identified and which weren't. so then i tried to make sure I had 16 different barcodes. and one slipped through. and as for where they were stocked, just on the lego aisle, next to city sets Edited May 27, 2010 by SpiderSpaceman Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I was wrong; it is indeed possible to identify the figures by feeling the parts through the bags, as others have attested, though it does work better for some than others. I went back to TRU yesterday without my barcodes from the first set and still cherry-picked a second zombie. I do think I'll need the barcodes to get some of the others I want, though (but I'd be happy with another full set anyway, so I may just go and pick up another sixteen with different barcodes whenever time permits - yeah, I do want more than one or two zombies, too). SpiderSpaceman Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 (edited) I think I'm gonna head back today on the off chance I can find my luchador. this time I've memorized the barcode backwards. skinny skinny space skinny fat medium... Edit: SUCCESS! Edited May 28, 2010 by SpiderSpaceman Quote
B.C. Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Well I was lucky enough to find a partial box at my local TRU. The box was put out that morning, and by 6 it was all gone when I bought the remaning 26 packs. Everyone around here is going crazy for these things. One person was on the phone asking about them when I walked in. I tried the barcode trick but I ran out of patience pretty quick. I just decided to buy them all. While I was in line, 2 other people came in asking about them. I thought someone already cherry picked a full set but when I got 4 wrestlers and 4 zombies I figured people were just buying random packs w/o looking for the whole set. I got a local guy who is willing to trade for the 2 I still need. I'm sure my kid will be thrilled when she opens them on her birthday in a few weeks. Quote
brickzone Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 Another option for Irish AFOLs, Art and Hobby are stocking the minifigs too - €2.75. That's at least three options now (apart from S@H), as Smyths Toys have them for €2.50 and Argos have them for €2.80. Pretty handy as apart from my first experience (the first day they were available) I haven't since been browsing a fresh box. In my local shopping centre there are both Argos and A&H, and there is also an Argos Extra near one of the local Smyths Toys. Presumably there may be the possibility of Tesco stocking them too? (Would mean a third option at the shopping centre!) I'm not likely to buy more of series 1 (excepting giving in to impulse buys of duplicates) but it bodes well for series 2 and it helped me to finish up my collection. I only hauled in 12 in my initial purchase (due to checking for unique codes and giving up eventually) and got each of the remaining ones on separate trips due to availability, apart from the diver which I'll skip on. blueandwhite Posted May 28, 2010 Posted May 28, 2010 I just hope we see these guys in Toys R Us in Canada. Given that they are already available in Europe Australia and the USA, I'm kind of worried that we might not see a wide release north of the US border. If there isn't a specialty shop in your area I'm wondering how likely it is that we Canadians will see these guys at all. Quote

Here in Flames Land, I went to a local Walmart and they have 10 open boxes, each fig is $2.86 CDN. They have shown up in many different Walmarts here and around our city. I already picked up mine at a Walmart in Burlington ON. Sad to say, I'm kinda disappointed with the quality of the figs. The plastic looks and feels cheap, almost like its LEGO knockoff rather than an actual LEGO product. Edited May 29, 2010 by BearHeart Quote
not-in-use-anymore Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Should I get a box of Series 1 and some of Series 2, a box of Series 2 and some of Series 1, or a box of both(which would mean I use most of my money on them)? Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Wait, I thought the US date was June 1st, or is it because I live in Virginia? I think that may indeed be the launch date for most vendors, and that TRU got a special exception to offer them early. I've actually seen TRU ads in the past that touted TRU being the first to offer certain new LEGO sets; I imagine TLG sometimes grants TRU small windows of exclusivity and other considerations (like exclusive sets) since TRU is such an important vendor for TLG's products. Whatever it is, my TRU here in Tallahassee, Florida has been selling them for nearly a week (at least), so if nothing else I can attest it's not simply a Virginia thing. Quote
Mkus Posted May 29, 2010 Posted May 29, 2010 Hi, just in case anyone wonders what mixture of different minifigs you get when ordering at Logo shop @ home: I just received my 20 minifigs from series 1 that I ordered there. I got Diver 1x Caveman 4x Astronaut 1x Cowboy 3x Wrestler 3x Robin Hood 3x Zombie 2x Skater 1x Cheerleader 2x I´m not that good at mathematics, but with a random choice, I guess I could have had more luck. Anyway, I´ll get the missing ones in the shop and take the barcode-list with me. I'm a conformist! ! Markus Quote

The Cobra Posted May 30, 2010 Posted May 30, 2010 After checking barcodes, I opened 16 bags and got 1x each. The only surprise was that bag content was a bit smelly (because of the miniposter, I think). Quote

I have noticed this as well, I think the reason is that its the ink used in printing the mini poster was not given enough time out in the open to properly dry, it was probably printed and packed in the packet right away, there is no effect I have noticed with the smell on the figs. No big seal I say. Quote
wackyfm Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Hi there, Has someone spotted the serie one in a brick & mortar shop in Paris - France? Galerie Lafayette and Village Joue Club has nice selection of Lego but no collectable minifigs yet. Cheers, Wakwak Quote
