Euvor Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 (edited) Just been out in my local toy store for one and a half hours looking for forestmen by feeling the bag. I the end I made only one mistake (mistook cowboy's gun for the forestman's plume) and got 8 forestmen! It really is hard to feel the parts through the bag. Do you think this will be the case with Series 2 or will it be even harder? To avoid double posting: Does anybody know if the wrestler's cape comes in a separate little box, like in the normal sets? Holodoc Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 To avoid double posting: Does anybody know if the wrestler's cape comes in a separate little box, like in the normal sets? No it does not. (I thought the same and was proven wrong by my first wrestler). Quote
Ralph Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 Well I checked a couple of Wal*Marts nearby, nothing in the Lego section at all. I also checked the front of the store where the collectable cards are kept for "Magic" and "Sports"... nothing there either. Just need to keep looking. Ralph Quote
Edmond Dantes Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I've checked Walmarts, Targets and ToysrUs' around here and haven't found anything. I can find them on ebay, bricklink and amazon for highly inflated prices, or at S@H (or the Lego store) for the normal price, but limit 5. It's a frustrating situation, that's for sure. Quote
Blondie-Wan Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 For everyone having trouble finding them, I recommend going beyond the usual range of retailers (Toys 'R' Us, Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc.) and checking out various smaller, independent toy stores that may carry LEGO. A good place to start might be the toy store locater at LEGO's site; even if the stores it turns up don't offer the minifigs, it might at least alert you to some local vendors you didn't know about before. Here in Tallahassee, Florida, Toys 'R' Us seems to be the only place to have gotten any so far (and they've sold out of their initial allotment), but I believe a local franchisee of a hobby store chain is expecting some in soon as well. I bought seventeen (a full set plus a second zombie) from TRU, but I think I'm going to get most of my additional ones at this other store if I can. Quote
krystalKING Posted June 3, 2010 Posted June 3, 2010 I just bought my first minifigure today and got a ninja. I also ordered 5 figs off of LEGO.com as soon as they were available. My most wanted figs are:Spaceman,Zombie,Cheerleader.Anyone else think they should have included a air tank with the astronaut? It really depends on the figure. There are a number of figures that don't have a lot of distinct parts. It's very easy for example to confuse a wrestler and a crash test dummy. Still, it's easier to just use the barcodes. Most of the barcodes vary after a few stripes and can be used easily to match up any figure. In North America, only the Nurse and Spaceman are a bit tricky as they have very similar barcodes. Print the barcode sheet and take it with you. I've already bumped into a few AFOLs doing this locally. I've been able to snag 12 forestmen using this sheet. In fact, I've pretty much put the forestman and cheerleader barcodes to memory. Quote
Mr Meleca Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 i bought the beano club magazine today and get 1 forest, ninja and western. Collection complete!!!! the poster is amazing! my daughter loved it an d the stickers!!!!!!!! Quote
beans Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Does anyone know how long these will be in production for? Series 2 is supposed to drop August/September so I wonder if Series 1 will be discontinued by then. Quote
WhiteFang Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Does anyone know how long these will be in production for? Series 2 is supposed to drop August/September so I wonder if Series 1 will be discontinued by then. I am very sure Series 1 will no longer be around after Series 2 launched. Furthermore, these minifigs series seems to be an one-off production and it's not something like those regular sets which we buy. In many other countries, there are shortages of these highly demand minifigs. Quote
MrTools Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 Now just to be sure, the codes are the same on US releases as the ones everywhere else? (Sorry to ask this question again, i just haven't gotten an answer ) Quote

(Sorry to ask this question again, i just haven't gotten an answer ) The barcodes are the same. If you have a google cell phone, try scanning the barcode and it will tell you what figure is in the pack. Quote

No There are two difrent pack of codes- one for US and one for Europe and rest of world. Seriously somone should put both on begining of this topic or something... Quote
The Cobra Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 how did u manage buying 60 bags when the limit is 5? As Edmond Dantes said, there was no limit for European customers, and I strongly hope there won't be for the next series either. Quote
GRogall Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I have done a .pdf file with all the barcodes for the Europe, Asia and USA figs on one sheet please don't sell it on ebay! File 7MB enjoy :classic: Quote
Erdbeereis Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I'm very happy! I ordered a set from Bricklink, and now that they've arrived, I'm a proud owner of the first 16. Personally, the quality looks great to me. They're slightly different than regular figs, but barely noticeable, and for sure not bad enough to not get these awesome fig designs. Later I'll go out to look for some extras of the ones I like the most. Can't wait for series 2! Quote

Thanks for the new sheet Quote
tiggerkiddo Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 May have to bite the bullet and order the last two (Zombie and Indian) I want off Bricklink, seeing as how hard they are to come by now. Makes me a wee bit annoyed I missed those last two when I was able to buy almost all of them in one swoop. My local Lego store tells me that they had a line (!!) before it even opened and they were sold out in five minutes. Well I know what to do when Series 2 comes out. Quote

I suspect that as Series one makes its way to Target and Wal-Mart (which I've already been hearing about) we'll have plenty of these figs to go around. Right now we're all just hyped up and excited about them. I mean they've only been out 2-3 weeks. We're just nervous they're rarer than they really will be, imo. I think it'll be ok in the end. At least thats what I am hoping for. If you're nervous, going out and spending a ton on them may be ok. I'd wait a couple weeks for things to calm down though. I'm missing only two myself, the ninja and wrestler. Edited June 4, 2010 by jerba Quote
Aanchir Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I respect that this was moved from the LEGO General Discussion and News forum, since it ought to be in the same forum as all the reviews, and it was only in that forum initially because it was created when it was news. Regardless, wouldn't this make more sense in "Other Themes"? After all, the collectible minifigs are for all intents and purposes themeless, much like Creator sets. There are sci-fi minifigs, fantasy minifigs, conventional (town) minifigs, and the potential for minifigs in any other theme category. I'd certainly be in favor of all collectible minifig business being shuffled over to Other Themes (besides, of course, MOCs or vignettes that do fit in specific themes). Quote

I was chatting with a very nice Lego Store employee as I was obsessively matching up bags to my barcode cheat sheet. She said they've been selling out of their shipments within a few days, but they keep getting new shipments. I asked her how long she expected these to stay in production, and she guessed at least a few months. I'll bet that within a couple of weeks, all us neurotic AFOLs (as well as all the scalpers) will have our fill, and the bags will languish on the shelves until Wave 2 comes out, and we start all over again. Also, a BIG thank you to the folks who put together these barcode cheat sheets. I found it very difficult to identify the mini-figs based on feeling the bags (man, does that sound dirty). With the barcode sheet though? 100% accurate. Yeah, it's tedious matching up the lines, and I felt like kind of a tool, but really, f-ck TLC for this blind packaging nonsense anyway. Just let me buy what I want!! Quote

not-in-use-anymore Posted June 4, 2010 Posted June 4, 2010 I was going to say moving it to Town, but then I saw it was. Maybe if this becomes popular enough it might get a sub-forum like LDD. I'm just saying that because it's harder to get through the topics. Quote
