Artanis I Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 As soon as you said "gorilla" I thought "I bet it's a bloke in a costume" And I hope the alien is good, I'll probably get that one. Quote
vexorian Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 (edited) What if the gorilla is just a body guard! -- yay alien! Though I was hoping to get an Asimo look-alike, maybe in series 4. Edit: And if I wanted real attention, I would claim to have seen the entire lineup. Or maybe that's what he wants you to think. Edited July 22, 2010 by vexorian Quote
jonwil Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 My guesses would be: 3. Lifeguard-- nothing 4. Vampire-- nothing 5. Witch-- nothing 6. Disco Dude-- nothing 7. Pharoah-- nothing 8. Spartan-- extra helmet plume (assuming it's a separate piece) 9. Mime-- extra heads 10. Adventurer-- nothing 11. PopStar-- extra microphone 12. Surfer Dude-- nothing 13. Ringleader-- nothing 14. Weightlifter-- extra barbells 15. Motorcycle Cop-- nothing (handcuffs were never included as extras in sets that came with them, were they?) 16. Skier-- extra ski pole Handcuffs were included as extras in several sets. I doubt the barbells are small enough to be included as extras. Quote
Orcasek Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I'm pretty sure the gladiators hat is attached to the plume, just look at it! Quote
kciR Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I went to Legoland Billund last Monday on my Summer holiday to Danmark. I picked up two random minifigs from the second wave (I wish I had the barcodes at that time). I got the police dude (with extra handcuffs) and the surfer dude. I love him. The rest will I pick up when it hits the stores here. Quote
Tanotrooper Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I'm pretty sure the gladiators hat is attached to the plume, just look at it! I suppose you're talking about the Spartan hoplite's helmet? From what I can see on several pictures, it doesn't seem like it's removable. It looks like it's just dark red print/paint on the helmet. Gaetano Quote
jamtf Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 I was in Germany yesterday. The stores were still flooded with the first wave minifigs. To my surprise, they are actually quite easy to find over there and you can find each one that you still need. Some stores have been visited by scalpers of course but most stores still have their share of collectible minifigs. The hardest one to get clearly was the cheerleader since that character is usually hoarded in multiples. No trace of series 2 figs though, although I have been told by a store employee that these are expected to arrive somewhere in August, most likely around mid-August. They were quite confident that they would have a shipment in some time next month. If the availability of series 2 is comparable to that of series 1, it will most likely not be too hard to get a complete range and some extra's of the ones that appeal the most or are suitable for army building such as the classic ancient warrior / soldier (I do not like to call him Roman, Greek, Trojan or Spartan, etc. since I simply do not know and consider myself too lazy right now to investigate this and I would like to avoid pointless and righteous discussions such as the one started by the now banned Asterios). Dunjohn Posted July 22, 2010 Posted July 22, 2010 Argos will have a new catalogue out in August, and I was able to sneak one off a pallet as they were being delivered today. No minifigs (S1 or S2) in it. I wouldn't worry about S2 because they'll probably insert a page when it releases, but the lack of S1 means they're probably trying to clear out their stock. If you're near an Argos and had been putting off getting any, better hurry up.... Quote

Lego_Hero Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 If I do say so, I believe it was one of my concepts in the big Minifig Ideas thread. If this keeps up, we'll have a whole circus without ever actually introducing a set! Surprised they're doing another Indian so quickly, but I'm not complaining... I hope the alien has the small kid legs. And the hula girl sounds like total win. Hope to grab a few to help better populate my Enchanted Island... Assuming this information is valid: I also believe that the gorilla would most likey be a costume, probably with a removable mask. I'm excited about the hula girl. I see coconuts braziers in our near future! I can't wait to see the alien. I wonder why they'd go with another indian? I guess by the time the third waves comes out, they would have had to come up with 47 other minifig ideas (counting the first two series). Here in the States, Series One came out at TRU in late May. We expect Series Two in late August. With roughly two months between the two, it's possible that Series Three be released here sometime around November if the pattern continues. That could put Series Four somewhere in February. Now that's all just guessing off a pattern, but it would make business sense for TLG to have a release plan for design deadlines and such. Quote

Basically, you expect it to be something like the werewolf that was part of the Lego Studios series (see link below). Werewolf Quote
Tanotrooper Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Perhaps the Indian figure refers to a South American Indian? (Maya and the like?) These figures don't sound as exciting to me as the previous waves. Although there are ofcourse still 12 unknown minifigures. LEGO anounced that they would release two series a year, so I suppose series 3 has to be available perhaps in January. That being said, I prefer this because if the series would continue to move at such a high pace it will become quite impossible to gather multiples of some figures and still be ready for the next waves. If anyone finds the series 2 figures please post the intel/info here I wonder if the stores over here will have them available at the start of August. Gaetano Quote

These figures don't sound as exciting to me as the previous waves. Although there are ofcourse still 12 unknown minifigures. For me the novelty has already worn off with series 1. With series 1 we got a great assortment of unique yet usable figures across a variety of themes. So far I'm not really excited about series 2 and so far series 3 doesn't sound all that exciting either. Quote
Dunjohn Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 I doubt it's anything other than a Native American indian, if I'd seen am image of a Maya chief, I'd have called it that rather than "indian." Besides, if they'd wanted to start doing Mayans, they'd begin with a Warrior. I'm cool with it being a regular Indian chief. Series 2 already expands a running Series 1 theme - horror - so I'd like to see the Western figs built on, too. I don't own any actual Western sets. I like the sound of all four of them so far. I hope the gorilla doesn't have a zipper or any other costume tell-tale sign. A zippered gorilla's only good as a costume, while a non-zippered one can be costumed or real. I do expect that it'll be a mask rather than a moulded headpiece. Quote

Here in the U.S., these things were wiped out by scalpers within hours of hitting the shelves. I haven't seen any new shipments in 2-3 weeks now. I really hope TLC improves their distribution for Wave 2 ... Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted July 23, 2010 Posted July 23, 2010 Okay, here's new speculation-fodder for the masses. User "olli" from 1000steine.de claims to have had a glimpse at a picture of next year's wave 3 of collectible minifigs. He states to remember here (text is in german) that we do get: - a gorilla - a hula-girl - a native-american chief - an alien Thank you very much for this information, Cutty! The Native American chief and the Hawaii girl sound great! And the gorilla is surely a good addition to the caveman. Do you, too, think that the Hawaii girl will be very similar to the surfer from wave 2 - but female and with different accessory? I'm really excited which other minifigs we'll get in series 3 and even in series 4. Klaus-Dieter Quote

Klaus-Dieter Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 I could well imagine those four new minifigs comming with following accessory: Indian Chief: lance with feathers Gorilla: banana Hawaii Girl: suncream Alien: space gun What do you think? Klaus-Dieter Quote
escortmad79 Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Hawaii Girl: suncream More likely to be a floral garland or a ukelele: Quote
lightningtiger Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Don't forget her grass skirt ! Now a gorilla.....well that would be one to go bananas about eh ? I wonder what else series 3 might then have instore for us ? I'm a conformist! ! Quote
Raphy Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 (edited) ^Yes, do forget her grass skirt! ;) With that inappropriate statement behind us, I'd like to ask, do you know the official release date for Series 2? Edited July 28, 2010 by Raphy Quote
Tanotrooper Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 ^Yes, do forget her grass skirt! ;) With that inappropriate statement behind us, I'd like to ask, do you know the official release date for Series 2? For Europe, anywhere from... well now (since Sweden already seems to have them) to middle of August. For the rest of the world... anywhere from now to the beginning of September. Wanted to add that the box's content is known: box contents Gaetano Quote
Fugazi Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 Wanted to add that the box's content is known: box contents Thanks for the link! So, according to this we still have 3 full sets with some extras: 5 of: police cop, ringleader, karate fighter 4 of: mime, witch, Mexican, lifeguard, vampire, weightlifter 3 of: skier, soldier, pharaoh, explorer, singer, disco, surfer I'm surprised that the karate fighter is among the least scarce figs, not so much the police cop. Explorer in the '3 of' list is also surprising to me. Quote
jonwil Posted July 28, 2010 Posted July 28, 2010 I have gotten reports that the Series 2 figs will hit Australia in September. Quote
