I listen to music a lot on my ipod, especially while driving. At home, I often listen to it on my computer over iTunes. I barely listen to CDs anymore, but if I do buy a new CD, I listen to it, and then load my favorite songs from it onto iTunes.

If Pandora counts as radio, then I suppose I missed one on the poll, but I just included that as Computer. I keep MP3s on an external hard drive and the CDs they came from in my car. I also have a flash drive with music that I can play through my car stereo, and I want to experiment with using an external HD with it. That would be great.

I'm thinking of buying a new micro hi-fi so I was wondering whether any one of you guys has had any experience in that area... I've pretty much made up my mind and after listening to that system in action, I think I'll go for Denon D-M37. The other hi-fi I was considering was Onkyo's CS-515, but unfortunately I haven't had the chance to actually hear that system yet, so I'd be grateful for any feedback.

Another thing I was wondering was whether you guys know of any online shops that deliver hi-fi within the EU? Fortunately, Denon do have an official distributor here, but Onkyo, Tannoy and the likes are somewhat of a rarity... Thanks in advance for any info and sorry for the slight off-topic here ;]

I assume it connects to the car? Because headphones in a car is illegal.

I convert all my CDs to a high bitrate MP3 (or wave file in some cases), store them on a server and I play them on computers using a custom music player that from most rooms can randomly picks songs based on ratings from my wife and I. In the room I work from I have an TEAC A-X1000 50 watt amp connected to Minimus 7s.

I've heard neither but... I'd go for the Onkyo. It's won several awards, it has a digital in where the Denon does not and it also supports 4 ohm speakers, which can be a good indication of load tolerance.

Well, what do you two do with the CD's after listening to them? Sell them, or something like that?

I keep them; I don't sell much! I've got hundreds of CDs stored in boxes.

True, I could sell them and get a few bucks, but for one, I'd legally have to delete my MP3s, and secondly I prefer to have physical copies of things. One good reason to keep them is so I can re-encode them as storage gets cheaper. I used to encode mine at 320kbs, but now I could easily use a lossless format or even raw wave files. I'll be doing that soon. (Low bit-rate MP3s, that is 128kbs and lower sound horrid.)

I mainly listen from the tracks I've got loaded onto my computer, or from the radio (especially around this time of year, what with the 24-hour Christmas music). However, when it comes to some old groups like the Beatles, and some musical (Sweeney Todd, Into the Woods, etc.) soundtracks, you just can't beat the snap-crackle-poppiness of my dad's old LP's. They're retro-tastic!

I also have the extremely off-beat option of playing things directly from my head. I've got the soundtracks for Pirates of the Caribbean 1 and 3, the soundtrack to Raiders of the Lost Ark, most of the original trilogy Star Wars soundtracks, and all of The Tragic Treasury by the Gothic Archies on total, note-for-note recall in my head. Phonographic memory, I guess.

Thanks a lot Siggy! I guess I'll be putting that purchase on hold for now, until I can really hear how that Onkyo plays. The Denon M37 has won quite a few awards these last few years, but I still like to do my testing with my own ears.

What exactly is Pandora? I've been told about it, but what they told me didn't make a lot of sense. Is it like a satellite radio you have to pay for, or is it on the internet?

That's a lot. :oh: Good thing CDs are compact, not as big as Vinyl records are.

I like listening to my music through speakers so and my iPod Touch has one so I do use that a far bit. When im on the computer I will play music through iTunes out the speakers. I have been recently listening through YouTube sometimes for songs which I cannot be bothered getting or may feel embarrassed if someone finds out I like the song
