Governor Mister Phes Posted November 21, 2009 Governor Posted November 21, 2009 It appears the Classic-Pirates.com blog has been blown out of the water! We have our maintenance crewing working on it right now and expect it will return shortly. Quote
Eurobricks Emperor Bonaparte Posted November 21, 2009 Eurobricks Emperor Posted November 21, 2009 Just to clarify, only the blog is down for now. Our forum is alive and kicking! Quote
Zorro Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Just to clarify, only the blog is down for now. Our forum is alive and kicking! Else we wouldn't be able to post here at all, would we? Quote
Captain M Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Else we wouldn't be able to post here at all, would we? This section of EB is being hosted on a completely different server? Quote
Zorro Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 This section of EB is being hosted on a completely different server? Yes, Classic-Pirates.com, the blog, is hosted on a different server. Quote
Captain M Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Yes, Classic-Pirates.com, the blog, is hosted on a different server. What about this forum? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 21, 2009 Author Governor Posted November 21, 2009 What about this forum? The forum is hosted on Eurobricks. Quote
Big Cam Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 Do we know who the attackers where? (cause) Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Do we know who the attackers where? (cause) The problem can most likely be traced to excess bandwidth use. Quote
Siegfried Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 What about this forum? Every subforum of EB is hosted on the EB server. How can you tell? Everything with "http://www.eurobricks.com/" at the URL beginning is part of Eurobricks. Thus if the Pirate Forum (also known as Classic-Pirates) of EB is down then everything is down... The problem can most likely be traced to excess bandwidth use. How is that possible? Quote
Rick Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 How is that possible? It's called popularity... Aren't the pictures (most bandwidth-intensive) hosted off-site? Quote
Joey Lock Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 This section of EB is being hosted on a completely different server? Yes, We are just that awesome. The server would overload with how much "awesome" there is to contain. Quote
Captain Zuloo Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Aren't the pictures (most bandwidth-intensive) hosted off-site? Nope. Everything is hosted on the site, far more reliable that way. You've seen the consistancy of sites such as Brickshelf. The only way we can know for sure that our images won't be going offline is if we host them. Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 27, 2009 Author Governor Posted November 27, 2009 The problem can most likely be traced to excess bandwidth use. Incorrect Captain Zuloo. The problem was not excessive bandwidth use. It appears the downtime was caused by malicious activity enacted by a third party. But never fear because we've strengthened the security to prevent such occurences in the future. Quote
Rick Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Did you use more Imperial Soldiers, Guards, or Armada to protect the classic-pirates.com server? Quote
Governor Mister Phes Posted November 27, 2009 Author Governor Posted November 27, 2009 Actually it was the 4+ Pirates, so no wonder somebody got through the defences! But on a more serious note we did lose 9 days worth of statistics, other than that everything is back and better than ever! Quote
