VBBN Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I'm back with (finally), a new review! Today I'll be looking at the most recent lego product catalogues. The winter and late winter catalogues. Before I begin, I do not have a scanner, so these pictures were taken with my camera, and thusly may be blurry. Being so foggy you can't see your hand outside doesn't help much either. Name: Holiday 2009 and Late Holiday 2009 Pages: 63 and 39 Price: Free Covers Holiday 2009 has two peoples singing carolls, a child builidng a snowman, and a holiday market, with snow and buildings in the backround. The Late Holiday catalogue shows The firehouse, a tree, and a jack in the box. Even cooler, is that they can fit together to form one big scene! THe tree on the left is actually the tree on the right. Match those up and you will see. There is also a card advertising for a poster-esque object that is the combined scene, as I explain below in the Inner Covers section! Back Cover Despite my Halo package cards covering up the addresses, the backs of the magazines show The Beetle and Cruiser. Inner covers As you can see, both have a very Similar inner cover area. If you look on the right, you can find the download for the scene I explained above! I'll be sure and download that to see what it looks like. Page Numbers As you can see, The Holiday 2009 catalogue gives a more in depth look at the year, whereas the Late Holiday is more of a wrap up. Quite apparent, as some things such as Bionicle are non-exsistent in the Late Holdiay catalogue. Exclusive Offer Seems like a great deal if you don't already have these sets! Found in the Holiday 2009 Catalogue. Postcard Send to friend for christmas and maybe get a present, who knows! Also in the Holiday 2009 Catalogue. And on that note, remember, So get shopping! Alright, well I went and looked for the goodies and bits that were in these magazines, now it's time for you to get christmas shopping. -VBBN Quote
Inconspicuous Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Thanks for this mini review. I own both, so nothing was too new and exciting, but I had no idea that they combined to form a scene! I think that's a really awesome design feature on their part. Nice application of your reviewing skills! Quote
ILikePi Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Hey, someone else besides me noticed that they can combine into a scene! I was going to post a picture about that, but then I got too lazy. I don't really understand why we even got a late holiday catalog just 15 days after the normal holiday one. My guess is that they did so so you could make the scene. There's not really anything extra in the late holiday one except for LEGO Rock Band and LEGO Indiana Jones 2, Duplo sets, and larger pictures of certain sets like the Home One (it takes up a whole page). I found one obvious mistake in the holiday catalog - if you look above the apple tree in the Medieval Market Village picture, there's a caption for Drawbridge Defense that's still lying there (it says 'Drawbridge is over 9" tall!')! Anyways, thanks for the review! Edited November 22, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
Captain M Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Ah ha! I knew it! I thought I had gotten another copy of the catalog in my mail. Sadly, I gave it to my sisters. There were also no Bionicle sets in there, which disappoints me. Quote
prateek Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Great review but, I didn't get mine yet Quote
Svelte Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 That pic is blurry - I can't read the download code at all! Could you pretty please just type it out for us? Quote
Big Cam Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Ah ha! I knew it! I thought I had gotten another copy of the catalog in my mail. Sadly, I gave it to my sisters. There were also no Bionicle sets in there, which disappoints me. Bionicle was a dying bread adn LEGO recognized that, ti was a necessary loss. Good mini=review, I have already reviewed these catalogs in detail myself. Quote

My guess is that the scene will be revealed on 11/26/09... Edited November 22, 2009 by ILikePi Quote
