Posted November 23, 200915 yr The Pirate Shipwreck Hideout Has LEGO decided to make this set "un-Limited"? I can't see anywhere that it is "Limited" - and I'm almost positive that it was when it was first released a year ago... I know that all the Pirate/Soldier sets are limited in the sense that LEGO will stop production this year, but they removed the "Limited" tag from this set on the official homepage http://shop.lego.com/ByTheme/Product.aspx?...cn=554&d=70 Do you guys know anything?
November 23, 200915 yr Has LEGO decided to make this set "un-Limited"? I can't see anywhere that it is "Limited" - and I'm almost positive that it was when it was first released a year ago... I think the "Limited Edition" logo is just a way to convince people to buy it. Nothing limited about it in my opinion
November 23, 200915 yr Agree - but they removed it. I can't see it anywhere - why is that? Maybe they decided to make it a regular set.
November 23, 200915 yr Agree - but they removed it. I can't see it anywhere - why is that? Well the image on SHop@home is not the official box, note there is no piece count. I mean obviously it's a legit picture but it's not an actual photo of a box. It probably still has the limited edition on it in the stores, but not on this particular image. Plus limited editions are usually just sold in Toys R Us stores, which reminds me I have never seen this in a Wa-Mart, or Target so it probably is a limited edition just like the Home One set, which is only sold in Toys R Us stores adn of course LEGO's website.

It's only in North America that you have piece counts on the boxes but otherwise you're right. "Limited" only means that the set is available at certain stores and at S@H.

I didn't know that. Over the years I have had lots of sets shipped from over seas and I never noticed they didn't have the piece count on the box. Funny. Now I know. Thanks

November 23, 200915 yr I had no problem finding it in shops in Poland, bought it some time ago and I could've bought it much earlier if I wanted to... So I really didn't see much difference between this one and non-limited sets...
November 23, 200915 yr Here in Italy it hasn't been available all-year-long, it surfaced a couple of weeks ago in a "selected toy shop" (priced 45 Euros instead of 40).
November 23, 200915 yr More often than not, 'limited' is just another word for 'exclusive to one particular store'. In that sense, a set can be said to be a limited edition as the production run is usually smaller than for the regular sets (which makes sense if you're only selling the set in one store or chain as opposed to all of them). But it doesn't necessarily mean they are rare or special in any way (at least before they sell out!). I think generally for Europe/ Rest of world sets they seem to leave the 'Limited edition' artwork off most non-SW boxes, probably because the distribution arrangements across so many countries are wildly different. In comparison, the North American market is much simpler so even things like the Farm sets had 'Limited Edition' branding on them as they know with certainty that only TRU is stocking that line.
November 23, 200915 yr On the pirates page at S@H the Shipwreck Hideout is still listed as hard to find which leads me to believe that the set still carries the limited edition tag. Every set with the limited edition marking that I have ever seen is also listed as hard to find on S@H.
December 3, 200915 yr Governor More often than not, 'limited' is just another word for 'exclusive to one particular store'. Apparently Toys R Us is the only store which stocks Shipwreck Hideout in Australia. Frustrating for me as there are no Toys R Us in my area!
December 3, 200915 yr Apparently Toys R Us is the only store which stocks Shipwreck Hideout in Australia.Frustrating for me as there are no Toys R Us in my area! Similar situation where I live. TRU is the only store that I've seen carry the Shipwreck Hideout in the States as well. They used to have one about 15 minutes from where I live, but they changed it to a Babies R Us and now the closest one is close to an hour away. Not the worst, but still when one used to be only 15 minutes away, it's kind of aggravating. It other news, it looks like the Shipwreck Hideout is sold out on S@H at least in the United States.

I'm guessing ti's the same deal as the US. Limited edition sets only appear in Toys R Us since they are the official retailer for LEGO. The Home One, Hoth, and Sith infiltrator sets only were sold in Toys R Us. It's just a deal LEGO has with Toys R Us. Shop @ Home is everyones backdoor to limited LEGO sets.
