Joe H Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 LEGO Kingdoms7946 Kings Castle 7947 Prison Tower Rescue 7948 Outpost Attack 7949 Prison Carriage Rescue 7950 Knights Showdown Might I ask where you got this information from? Seems almost like a re-hash of similar sets, if you can judge a set by it's name... Kings Castle... Kings Castle Siege Prison Tower Rescue... Skeleton Tower Outpost Attack... Tower Raid Prison Carriage Rescue... Skeletons Prison Carriage Knights Showdown... The Final Joust It seems unlikely they'd be this similar in name, even if they contained vastly different factions, etc. Could these have been potential names for the sets I likened them to? Quote

KimT Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 So do you mean "LEGO Castle" line has been confirmed to rename as "LEGO Kingdoms"? Yes, that would be the new name for the Castle Theme. The set list sounds right. Quote
Alywin Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) Yes, that would be the new name for the Castle Theme. The set list sounds right. Thanks, KimT for the information. I would much look forward to knowing the changes brought along with the name change to the existing Castle line! But just judging from the names of the 2010 new sets (which are pretty much along the same tone as 2008 or 2009 sets), it does not seem to have any significant new elements or impacts from the theme change to "Kingdoms"... Let's wait till further news coming out for the new LEGO Kingdoms... Edited December 19, 2009 by Alywin Quote
phoinix Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 it would be really sad if lego stops the fantasy theme here. there would be so much more they could do with it.. so no more dwarfs and orcs? :( Quote
frogstudio Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 I its just for the names, I don't think I'll be getting any. I wish TLC could be a bit more imaginative about sets. I mean, medieval times have somany thing of which you could make a set, rather than making the same sets again and again and again.... Quote
Joe H Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) Honesty, the set list of names seems disappointing to me since, as I mentioned before, they're apparently the same "idea" as the 2007-2008 sets from the Castle theme. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what they actually look like though. The name "Kingdoms" is too close to Knight's Kingdom, which makes me slightly afraid of what's to come. The first wasn't that bad, though I would say that almost every Castle theme before the first Knight's Kingdom theme was, in my opinion, extremely better - set wise, piece wise, and faction wise. I'd love to see some set names akin to "Sea Serpent", "Guarded Inn", "Blacksmith Shop", etc... for some reason I feel that those sets were more oriented towards combining the sets to come up with a village or some kind of territory for a faction. The newer sets, especially the names given to the Kingdom sets, seem to be named/designed as essentially random things happening in the Kingdom world. Just my opinion though. Complaining about the sets at this point seems a bit premature when we haven't had so much as a single photograph. It almost goes without saying that every castle line reboot would likely feature a large castle as the centrepiece. The names alone really tell us next to nothing about thes sets themselves. All we know is that we're getting a castle, tower, presumably a smaller outpost, a prison wagon and a set of knights. They could be largely redundant or they could be something completely amazing. Who knows if the knights will simply be rehashes of older figs, or if we will see new armour and accessories? The same is true for the sets themselves. We could have another generic castle design or something completely different. Who knows, maybe we'll actually see a real gatehouse on this next castle. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 (edited) Sounds promising! But indeed, they sound a lot like 2007 sets... Edited December 19, 2009 by Lordofdragonss Quote
CastleLord Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 All this sound promising. I really hope we get some good sets for the second half of 2010. Since there sadly wont be any in the first half :( CastleLord. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Thank you very much for this information, AllanSmith and KimT! Honesty, the set list of names seems disappointing to me since, as I mentioned before, they're apparently the same "idea" as the 2007-2008 sets from the Castle theme. Guess we'll just have to wait and see what they actually look like though. I totally have to agree with you, Joe H! More civilian sets - such as the awesome MVV - are indeed needed! But keep in mind that these are mainly to AFOLs oriented sets. Nevertheless I bet that - since MVV sold very well - we will get a new Castle Exclusive in 2011. Total agreement here, too! Imo the name is really not that which makes a good or bad set. But the name similarity and the infos we have been getting until now makes me fearing that we'll be getting a very similar to KK2 styled Castle theme for 2010, too. At least the set names don't sound very promising! -Why not releasing a princess' carriage attacked by the bad guys instead of giving us a prison carriage out of which a good guy shall be freed?! -And why not giving us a decent castle for the bad guys instead of very supposably only a tower with a big prison?! I really do not understand. Well, let's see. Klaus-Dieter Quote
The Green Brick Giant Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 Why is everyone complaining? Sure the name change is stupid, but we already knew they were gonig to do that withthe online voting. We don't know anything about the sets, so let's complain. Here's a hint, LEGO Castle / Kingdom will have... a Castle! Heaven forbid! City fans get police and fire sets every other year, we live with it. There isn't all that much you can do that is different when you are just starting a new theme, you have to have the basics set out. Quote
Joe H Posted December 19, 2009 Posted December 19, 2009 There isn't all that much you can do that is different when you are just starting a new theme, you have to have the basics set out. Well, in my opinion, the Castle theme has been around for the past 2 years, even if there's various factions. So, it's not really like they're starting out with "Kingdoms", though it's probably a new faction. There is a lot you can do with new themes, however. As people have mentioned - village style medieval sets, port-like sets, mills, and the list is quite endless . That's the beauty of Lego! Quote

These set numbers and set names sound true as they make sense, also Lego are the kings of reissuing sets either 2 years or 20 years later. Knights Showdown sounds very promising and may be Prison Tower Rescue could be where a princess is being rescued ? We will just have to be paitent and wait for the first pictures (we have seen mid-year Star Wars and TS3 already) to appear. Quote
hollisbrick Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Does anyone know what the new factions are going to be? Quote
Athos Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Well they deleted the list from classic-castle as leaks from a dealer catalog. Which suggests to me that the list is accurate. Steve Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 20, 2009 Posted December 20, 2009 Maybe in Feburary when the toy fairs are on again we might see what this reinvented theme looks like, at the moment unless we get a couple of teaster pics we are only going to guess who or what is in Kingdoms. Quote

KimT, as you've had the chance to see the line is there a possibility that you might be able to give a few hints on some of the new pieces we could expect from next year's sets as we wait patiently for photos? Any info at this point would be amazing. Quote
