December 27, 200915 yr These sets look great. Looks like we are getting a dark green wizard.. but why does he have to have a grey beard. I think he'd look better with a black beard. Unicorns and Dragons seem pretty good factions. Might have to wait until we get some better pics to see if it really is a unicorn on the shields.
December 27, 200915 yr I said there aren't any archers in the new castle (defending it)!!I do, and I don't see one in there! Well, not really an army but a group of soldiers that's capable of defending it. I don't think 3 of them is enough... That's why I hope more minifigs will have been added to the final version of that set. Do I make myself clear now? Sorry for sounding con-fusing. I apologize, Mörs, I was out of line calling you a "mulehead". I just meant that you were being stubborn and confusing. You made your opinion clear to me, now, so I hope we can move on now.
December 27, 200915 yr But the dragon-kngihts also have a horse with a horned headgear. How does this fit with the theory of the unicorn-faction?
December 27, 200915 yr But the dragon-kngihts also have a horse with a horned headgear. How does this fit with the theory of the unicorn-faction? He didn't say they rode unicorns. Same way the Dragon faction won't be riding dragons... it's just that their emblem resembles a unicorn (or does it?). And I believe there was horned headgear like that in the middle ages.

I meant only the symbol, too. But isn't it a little bit strange, that one faction has the unicorn as their characteristical emblem, but the other guys decorate their horses in the same manor?
December 27, 200915 yr Another thing I didn't see in this line were chest armor pieces or the helmets with pointed visors. These are some of my favorite castle-themed pieces, so I hope they'll show up in the sets down the line - though the new helmet looks really nice, the chest piece is a must!

Very odd they don't have the chest armour pieces... then again, the sets are preliminary; maybe they'll have them added later. And I'd take a helmet with the moving visors over any other Castle helmet any day!!
December 27, 200915 yr I think that we will see a 3rd human faction in this line eventually even if it isn't forest men. Maybe they will come up with some kind of barbaric human faction inspired by the Wolfpack. I doubt that. The theme name Kingdoms presupposes a King, so i think there will be no place for any egalitarian forestmen/wolfpack like factions. Edited December 27, 200915 yr by Wolfpack
December 27, 200915 yr It's indeed nice to see, that TLC fills the gap of historical helmets between the 11th and late 13th/14th century. The "great helm" is THE typical helmet of the high medieval period. Maybe TLC's sense of historical accuracy developed in such a way, that they don't want to combine such helmets with late medieval plate-armour.

I was thinking the same thing about the chest armor pieces at first, but if you look closely, a few sets have minifigs with the chest armor piece. The mounted "unicorn" knight in the tower set has chest armor, and it's possible that the king does as well. Maybe I'm just seeing things though, and I do agree that overall there is much much less armor than in the the Castle line. I wouldn't want every random foot-soldier to have armor, and it looks like most of these sets only contain foot-soldiers and few have mounted knights. But still, like you I'd like to see a bit more of the armor piece in these sets than the current pics show. It would be nice if every minifig of both sides with the new helmet piece also had some armor, as that would distinguish those minifigs more from the average foot-soldiers.
December 27, 200915 yr This might be a kinda of stupid question does anyone know when the new castle lego is coming out? My son mostly got Xmas money, and we've looked all up and down the stores in Ottawa, Canada. All of them have already removed castle from their shelves. So i've got a sad son, because instead of buying him the sets, we just gave him the money and would let him pick. I am considering ordering from BL but i think thats gonna take awhile and Lego.com has like two sets left. :(

December 27, 200915 yr I doubt that. The theme name Kingdoms presupposes a King, so i think there will be no place for any egalitarian forestmen/wolfpack like factions. Such people can still live in the kingdom, even if they give no allegiance to the king.
December 27, 200915 yr Jeej, two new human factions! Given the quality af the current minifig designs i have high hopes for the minifigs. The sets themselves look like great part packs as well. Thanks Lego!

December 27, 200915 yr From what I can see of the sets, I really like them. I hope the green wizard is something other than the forestman torso (and likewise, something other than just a plain green torso). If not, oh well. I will still buy some of that impulse set for the small dragons if nothing else. The small sets look nice and I am happy that we have a variety on the lower end of things. I am assuming that the set with 2 soldiers will be in the $6-8 range and the wagon set will be in the $10-12 range. If so, I will likely buy lots of both of them to bulk up the armies of the 2 factions so they can hope to compete with my Crownies, Skeletons, and Orcs (all of which exceed 100 at the moment). I also like the two color schemes. I do kind of wish there were smaller sets that had figures for the two factions seperate from each other. In other words, one set with Dragon guys and one set with Lion (Unicorn?) guys. That is a minor complaint though. The two larger sets both look nice. The Dragon "castle" looks like a solid little fortress. I have been hoping for a smaller (smaller here means costs less than $100 and closer to $40-50) castle that was decently designed for a while now. I need to get a better look at it, but I could see getting more than one of that one. The Lion/Unicorn castle looks nice as well. It does somewhat remind me of the King's Castle Seige, but that's fine. I prefer the red highlights to blue. Also, I can use one of my KCS sets to expand this castle pretty easily if they really are similar. I don't know what to make of the middle set, the small outpost with the seige engine. If it is $20 (or maybe $30 if the piece count is favorable) I could see getting a few of them. The structure itself doesn't do much for me, but most of the parts will probably be used in the outpost which means they will be useful for other castle projects, or useful for expanding the large castle. Either way, if the price is right I will buy several because I can always use more castle bricks to make larger and more detailed castles. Overall, I really like them. I liked the Fantasy sets and I am somewhat sad to see them end before we had more dwarves (and maybe an appearance by the Elves), but these sets seem to be closer to the sets liked a while ago. The general set up is also similar, which I think is a better sales scheme. A few small, cheap sets to bulk up the armies, a small outpost, a mid range castle, and a large castle. The only things missing are for the castles to be more modular so they can be connected and a figure set like we used to have in the 80s. If this system lasts, maybe we will see more human factions down the road. Either new ones or perhaps "updates" of classics such as the Black Falcons. Of course, maybe my taste is odd because I actually liked some things from KK and KK2. Anyway, time to start saving money now so I don't go broke between these and TLG finally making some more Star Wars sets I actually want.

December 28, 200915 yr If you magnify the pic, you will see he is not wearing armor, but some type of pauldrons (maybe). Yes, I agree that it doesn't quite look like the armor piece, but it doesn't look like just a minifig torso either. I highly doubt that it would be the Agents torso. LEGO sometimes does crazy things, but they wouldn't go that far. ANyhow, I guess we'll just have to wait for clearer pics and pics that show the minifigs well to really discern the armor situation. It's only a month and half until NY Toy Fair, you know, and I'm sure close-to-finalized sets will be there. I hope we get at least some armor, be it the old piece or a new one.
December 29, 200915 yr Oh gosh, just realised next year is a Kingdom Advent Calendar! Set no 7952 on Brickset. Hope it's as good as the last Castle Advent! Edited December 29, 200915 yr by metalgearsolid
December 29, 200915 yr Oh gosh, just realised next year is a Kingdom Advent Calendar! Set no 7952 on Brickset. Hope it's as good as the last Castle Advent! I'm hoping that at least us neglected canadians actually get a chance to order it.
December 29, 200915 yr http://www.flickr.com/photos/gerjanlennips/ These bigger scans of the Kingdom sets confirm that it is really a lion crest, not a unicorn, that the good knights have. And it seems there really is a female prisoner in the dragon fortress, based on the shape of the mouth and the fair color surrounding the head (a blonde princess?). I can't see any breastarmor on any of the figs, but that might change for the final products. On the other hand, the armor on the golden knight in this year's set was pretty useless, since the torso print was much better, so they might have just done away with the extra armor altogether. Oh, and the jester in the impulse doesn't have a three-pointed hat, the blue blob at the center is apparently a ball he's throwing. And the wizard looks more dark green than normal green, but I'm not sure.
December 30, 200915 yr I'm hoping that at least us neglected canadians actually get a chance to order it. Come now, we Canadians aren't really that neglected. In fact, we get pretty much everything that the US does. At the end of the day, I just hope that LEGO attempts to release all of it's 2010 products in all major world markets.
December 30, 200915 yr At least not everyone figure is carrying the silver weapons. I've never really been a fan of silver swords. The dragons are all using black or dark grey weapons. Means i can finally get a black sword. Is it just me or are the Dragons faction already outnumbered? Even their tower only has two guards to defend against 2 lions.
