The Cobra Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 edit: I've added set names. An Italian online store has prices for the upcoming castle line: 7953 = 2.99 Jester impulse / Giullare 7955 = 2.99 Wizard impulse / Mago 7950 = 6.99 Knights Showdown / Resa dei conti 7949 = 9.99 Prison Carriage Rescue / L'inseguimento della carrozza 7948 = 14.99 Outpost Attack / Attacco all avamposto 7947 = 49.99 Prison Tower Rescue / La torre prigione 7946 = 102.99 King's Castle / Il castello del re 7566 actually is the Farmer impulse set. Great to have 3 cheap sets, like in the 2007 line! Quote
Svelte Posted January 6, 2010 Posted January 6, 2010 Great to have 3 cheap sets, like in the 2007 line! I agree - it makes sense for parents and consumers, lots of small sets for impulse purchases and then only one big Castle to buy! The mid-size sets are also the ones that seem to disappoint IMO, so I'm not sad not to have too many. Quote
Jack Bricker Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I hope that those low prices on the smaller sets means we will get a lot of army builder sets this time. I didn't like having to pay $4-5 for just one knight and $16 for just 5 knights. Quote

I didn't like having to pay $4-5 for just one knight and $16 for just 5 knights. I believe the prices coincide with the preliminary sets we've seen from the retail catalog, indicating that the cheapest sets (2.99) are the jester and the wizard, while the slightly more expensive set is the one with the two knights. Not bad if you'd like to build an army for both side in even proportions, but otherwise a bit more expensive than it was to get single figures in 2007 (i.e. The Knight). I'd prefer the latter since it allows more flexibility. Quote

ziljin Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 (edited) Does Lego ever make more than one wave of Impulse sets? Because I was hoping they were making something similar to The Good Knight. 2 helmets, 1 armor, 1 printed torso (compared to the other knights that had armor but no printed torso), and multiple weapons. Kind of makes the other impulse sets seem less "bang for the buck". Well I think I will order 5 of the wizards and jesters anyway. And probably buy some Harry Potter sets, and I can mix the wizards together to make a diverse group of wizards/mages/witches. They could be advisors or elite battle mages. KurttKrueger Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I'm hoping we see more cheaper ways of building up a reasonable size force of the new factions. My Crown Knight army needs worthy opponents! Quote
Sandy Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 Does Lego ever make more than one wave of Impulse sets? They sure do, the Fantasy Era got a troll impulse later on. But there's the cheap Knight's Showdown set coming too, which includes a soldier for both sides, plus some extra pieces. Isn't that enough to fill your army? Well I think I will order 5 of the wizards and jesters anyway. And probably buy some Harry Potter sets, and I can mix the wizards together to make a diverse group of wizards/mages/witches. They could be advisors or elite battle mages. That's a fine idea, but for more diversity, I would suggest you buy the old Castle wizards and Harry Potter figs used instead hoarding many of the new ones. There are at least eight different type of mages available in the Castle line itself, plus a great number in the old Harry Potter line. I know because I have almost all of them. Quote

I prefer buying stuff from lego.com or amazon for the guaranteed quality and customer service. Orders being processed without further input from myself. And no hassle of using paypal. AND I have thing for repetition. It must be the child within me. But I like having multiples of the same minifig so that I can have 1 original at least, then the rest can be changed around for diversity. Edited January 7, 2010 by lego40k Quote

I didn't like having to pay $4-5 for just one knight and $16 for just 5 knights. I don't know what army you want to build, but last Castle series had quite good small sets for that. For example 7090 and 7092 were cheap and with a good minifig ratio, at least if you count skeletons as minifigs. Quote
Tobiasz Posted January 7, 2010 Posted January 7, 2010 I think the new castle shields don't show the unicorn. I realised that they are the same as duplo castle shields like in this picture !!!... but that's great because the duplo shields are very, very good and I always like to see it in "normal" lego Castle. They only have different colours. Quote
Albero - BEL Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 (edited) I'm really glad to see that we will have a medieval farmer impulse set, if it will have a pig included, I'll buy more than one. Edited January 8, 2010 by Albero - BEL Quote

I never use Bricklink because I can find most stuff from Ebay cheaper. And PayPal is the easiest thing ever, you just sign in and click a button, and the payment goes directly from your bank account. There's no need to write any sort of numbers anywhere, so there's practically a zero percent chance for mistakes. I think the new castle shields don't show the unicorn. In Kingdoms, the lion is shown whole and standing, and the dragon is of different shape as well, with a checkered background like in the lion. But nice find, anyway! Quote

When I read one of the above posts I got the impression that there was a Farmer Impulse for Kingdoms. Its only when I went back and reread the post and clicked the link that I realised it was for City. Easily done. Quote

I was trying to make a unit of armed swordsman similer to what the Medieval 2 Total War game had for the English Faction. I ended up just giving up. Oh, well I will build it later and now I will have a couple new factions to have my forces battle with. Quote
army23 Posted January 8, 2010 Posted January 8, 2010 Alot of these sets are already on brickset.com just go to browse then 2010 the choose the castle theme. any way the wizard and the jester sets look good Quote

The price doesn't directly translate like that most of the time. In the past, it has seemed like the euro amount (2.99 euros for example) is very close to the dollar amount (in this case, $3.49 instead of $2.99). This may change this year with the increase in prices across the line but I doubt it will be anywhere near the direct conversion price. Quote
Klaus-Dieter Posted January 9, 2010 Posted January 9, 2010 (edited) Thank you all very much for all this many information! The new Castle sets look ! It's great to see that TLG is finally going back to the roots and releasing more classic Castle sets! Negative: - architecture of the Prison Tower looks to fantasy-like (perhaps the final version will be better) - no knight Impulse set - no siege tower and/or battering ram - nearly no horses Positive: + classic and realistic look more + much less useless action elements (like catapults, war vehicles etc.) + great minifigs + great architecture + sets in different sizes and price categories + reasonable prices Btw: I haven't found the following information has already been posted (if still please forgive me): 7952 Kingdoms Advent Calendar - 20 Euros (source) Klaus-Dieter Edited January 9, 2010 by Klaus-Dieter Quote

phoinix Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 (edited) oh come on September is too far away! at least bring them to us for summer! my birthday is in August and i am dreaming about the caste already! i find the castle to be the best set of them all in design the "evil" smallest castle reminds me of something Japanese or Chinese or smth and i dont really like that dark green, the tower with the evil catapult looks so empty and boring the impulse sets look very nice! the color on the boxes have a peaceful look and nothing screams war (although there apparently is a conflict ) i really dont get why the Castle line ended and we went from the fairytale back to "reality" there was so much more TLG could have done with that line and when i think of all the new and amazing minifigures and creatures it makes me feel sad. we were all so hoping to get more dwarfs as they were only in a couple of sets and we wanted to see elves and more evil characters! i am not so much amazed by this new line as i was when i first saw the Castle line first picture.. maybe they will turn out better than they look. (and the dwarfs might return!..one can only dream) and let me point out that we cant clearly see a female character in the line so far...i miss the queen the princess and the village girls :( Edited January 10, 2010 by phoinix Quote
Jack Bricker Posted January 10, 2010 Posted January 10, 2010 I wonder if we will see more of the trolls and fantasy themed stuff. I wonder if Lego just decided to change the name from castle to Kingdoms because they were creating so many different factions and I wonder if Lego is just throwing in another human faction because a lot of the collectors were complaining that there was just one human faction when the 2007 castle theme premiered. So we may see more fantasy elements and factions in the near future. Quote
