May 16, 201014 yr Does anyone know where that lovely advent calender is limited to, i would love to get my hands on one but I'm all the way up in the frozen north of Canada. If you look back at this post, it seems the U.S. will be getting the calendar. Usually, when the U.S. gets something, Canada does too. So it seems you're in luck!
May 17, 201014 yr That advent calender sure will go a long way to filling the castle with lots of nice odds and ends which it is currently lacking. The included minifigures are wonderful, and the choice of mini sets and accessories are really great. It will be a shame if the battle packs do indeed end up being of inferior quality. For me, they really look like the perfect army builders, and if I can ever get them for a satisfactory price then I'd be happy enough to pick up a couple of packs.
May 17, 201014 yr Wow, thank you for the great pictures grogall! The Castle Advent Calendar is just fantastic, hands down. The only thing I would have liked to have seen would be a special figure included for the Dragon Knights. I'm not sure what, maybe a warlord or a champion or something. Oh well, there's always the next wave for those types of figures to show up. Those Battlepacks sure look promising too, one can only hope that the quality issue has been dealt with.
May 17, 201014 yr Thanks for the pics! The battlepacks somewhat leave me in dubio. Pro: They are a good way to increase the dragons' numbers, The diverse selection of parts and torsos is definitively good. Con: On the other hand, the dragons' weapons don't fit (and it's difficult to collect spare weapons from other sets to arm an army). The faces of the minifigs display too little variety If the quality of the figs is bad, this is obviously a con. In sum, if the quality of the figs is good, I will probably buy them, but it isn't, I'll skip them... Best, K. Edited May 17, 201014 yr by KristofBD
May 17, 201014 yr The calendar looks absolutely fantastic! The last one was already good, but i think this year's is even better. There is even a pig in it! Could this be a hint that we'll see some more civilian castle sets in the future? Can't wait to get it! Edited May 17, 201014 yr by metalandi
May 17, 201014 yr Gaah! Stop with the "cheap Chinese plastic" allegations! The reason the plastic is cheap is because the battle packs come from an external supplier, not because they come from China. Any Chinese parts in ordinary sets will be standard quality, because LEGO takes care of quality control on main-line sets by themselves. Seriously, does plastic somehow magically become cheaper when it is shipped to or made in China? Is there some strange chemical in the air that does it, preventing decent plastic from ever leaving China's borders? No. People just assume that because LEGO opened a factory in China at around the time that they started getting magnet sets manufactured externally, the two are related. And people were making these claims in the BIONICLE community long before LEGO even started producing in China, so it should be obvious that such claims of "cheap Chinese plastic" are misinformed. --rant over-- Anyway, it's a pity those high-res pics tend to have errors. The white horse's nose in the bad guy fortress set is cropped away, for instance, and the "bad guy with catapult" set has a good guy shield. I assume these are just early pictures, just like the high-res wizard pictures who lacked printing and had a preliminary version of the scroll with different text. Also, is anyone else bothered that the scroll in the actual, finalized wizard set spells "powerful" with two L's? I'm not an expert on middle English spelling conventions, so perhaps that is correct for the time period, but it still seems kind of dubious. In conclusion, thanks once again for the high-res pics, Grogall!
May 17, 201014 yr Can anyone give me a hint where to get the battlepacks in Germany? I DO need them Bought all of the Lego Kingdom sets at a Idee & Spiel store today including the BP's but haven't opened any of them. also was given 30061 for every €30 that I spent, so I got 6 for free! Sorry can't do reviews don't have a good camera at the moment....
May 17, 201014 yr The Kingdoms sets are available at the Schaumburg LEGO store here in the Chicago area. Just went on the shelves a few hours ago. It looks like we have a USA release date and that is today!

Yep, there is a lot of mistakes in those HR pictures but I only puzzle the pics together and don't notice the mistakes that much....
May 17, 201014 yr Hmm the castle looks fairly similar to older ones, just some different colours and minifigs... not sure what's the point in a new line then. I also think the random cheese sloped in 7948 7949 look a bit weird. Nonetheless it's a great line and I'm sure castle fans will much appreciate it, esspecially in comparison to the not so good lines that TLC released before.
May 17, 201014 yr It looks like we have a USA release date and that is today! The wait is over! The first Tuesday in June I'm gettin' some! Thanks for the info! Also, to comment on the battle-packs, I'm glad that the Dragon Warriors are not all the same torso (there is one of the other type of mail) and I'm a bit disappointed that there is no armour piece in the lions'. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
May 18, 201014 yr Set 7949 is available on Amazon.com for pre-order. However, it won't be released until August 1, 2010 :/ I hope they show up before than, August seems so far away.
May 18, 201014 yr One of the LUGPOL members found very interesting piece in castle: New small window!
May 18, 201014 yr Is the new wall panel the same piece as is found in the pirate soldiers fort? Yes, it's the same. Better or worse than the old wall panel? Well, that's a more difficult question
May 18, 201014 yr I would say that the new 4-studs panel is better because it is smaller, but we'll see. I'm looking forward the new window. A
May 21, 201014 yr Any body else have 7947 Prison Tower Rescue yet? What are your thoughts on it? Seems too cramped and bare. Does any one have any ideas of how to add to the tower? I'm thinking of buying a second one, and trying to enlarge it
May 21, 201014 yr The new 2 x 2 window is cool, it looks just like the 1 x 2 x 2 airplane window but with an arch top hole instead of a square hole.
May 21, 201014 yr If someone has it, feel free to do a review of it My thoughts exactly. I have to wait untill early june to get them so all I have are the reviews. Going to order everything online next week...
