NorthernKnight Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 My only complaints are the lack of kite shields and large dragons for the dragon knights. Relax, these are preliminary pics of the first wave, surely much is to come. For instance, i can't see a single mounted knight for the dragon knights. They are not called the "dragon footsoldiers". It would also be quite surprising if they didn't release a classic jousting set with two mounted knights (like 7009, 383-1, 6095-1, 6095-1). Ok, no more speculations for me. Next year I'll be getting a new fresh wave of knights and, lets not forget, a Robin Hood, well done TLG. Quote
metalandi Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Do you mean the collectible minifigs, when you are talking about robin hood, or did you hear anything about new forestman sets aswell? The return of these would be great, we then would have like "classic castle modern style"! Quote
Mörs Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) Uh, have you even seen the current Castle sets? In King's Castle Siege, there's five knights against four skeletons (and a dragon). Well, I guess that's why it's called the "King's Castle Siege". But even then, the idea of having a castle with 4 people in it, none of which are archers, and only one horse, doesn't stand much... especially when the attacking force is almost just as numerous... catch my drift? Fair enough but that's KK2, so that doesn't count! The return of these would be great, we then would have like "classic castle modern style"! Yeah, what we have already seen looks like a remake of the 1995 Castle -- Royal Knights vs. Dragon Masters. Edited December 26, 2009 by Mörs Quote

Nicker Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) I was referring to the collectible minifig. I have a feeling that the appearance of the robin hood style collectible minifig could mean that we might see a 3rd faction appear in 2011 as the return of the forest people. Just a thought. Rick Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I thought the collectibles were supposed to be totally separate from existing lines, so I doubt it. At least they haven't lost the mold for the forest man hat yet. Quote
metalandi Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) With it beeing human against human again next year, it could happen i think...also, why would they make a new forestman fig alone, but not sets that can go with it? Wouldn't make much sense, would it? Edited December 26, 2009 by metalandi Quote
NorthernKnight Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I don't think we should see Robin Hood as a sign of a rerun of the forestmen theme. If that was the case, will there also be a zombie vs clowns theme? i don't think so. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 ...zombie vs clowns theme? This sound even better than Pirates vs Ninjas! I will miss Orcs anyway... Quote
SWMAN Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 While I am glad that Lego has shifted back to Humans vs. Humans, I am not sure how I feel about the sets. It appears that the theme will include many new and redesigned accessories, including new helmets, swords, and horse pieces. After looking at all of the pictures, the theme looks a little too childish. With all of the bright colors and more Playmobile-style accessories, it feels as if it is a total shift away from former Castle themes. I think part of the problem with KK is that it was such a dramatic shift from former Castle themes that people didn't like it. While the fantasy theme was a bit different, the designs of sets and accessories felt classic and like classic castle sets. This new theme looks a little too radical for me and almost feels like an attempt to simply please children, which while I know is Legos main audience, makes the theme feel weak. But, the are preliminary pictures. So we will see. Quote
Nicker Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I think that we will see a 3rd human faction in this line eventually even if it isn't forest men. Maybe they will come up with some kind of barbaric human faction inspired by the Wolfpack. Quote
lightningtiger Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 This new theme looks a little too radical for me and almost feels like an attempt to simply please children, which while I know is Legos main audience, makes the theme feel weak. 'SWMAN' isn't this product meant to be for children not really for us adults as much, you don't see beer being advertised towards children (thank goodness it isn't). Also I was only saying to a salesperson in a toy shop yesterday about how Lego will do something then Playmobile does and visa versa. Everyone goes with the flow and makes a theme that they think will selll by the container load - it's all about the mighty dollar ! (and to them lots of them). Besides that, the forestmen would be a perfect addition to the 'Kingdom' theme - Robin Hood and Little John minifigs would sell well. Quote
metalandi Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) I don't really know what exactly makes you think that it looks more "childish" than the last castle theme. In the new one, we have a even more realistic looking castle than the last one, and there are no not-human things like trolls, living skeletons and stuff anymore. Also, i haven't found much weapons that we didn't see yet. So what exactly makes it look like that to you? Maybe you should look a bit closer at the pictures first. Mörs Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 How can you say the new Kingdoms line is <insert that tiresome argument> is beyond me. It's cleary a move from the more children-directed Fantasy Era Castle towards a more realistic line. Quote

Mörs Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Looking at the set inventory, I see two archers. I was talking about the new 2010 Castle (I can only see a crossbowman on the Dragons' side)... Quote
metalandi Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I think he is more talking about the new castle But once again, these are preliminary pictures, and the setup and look of the figs is for 100 % sure to change. Alone the legs of the "good" faction: i don't think they will end up having plain grey, black legs in the end, with all the printed legs action going on everywhere. Also the torsos will be changed i assume, as they look about almost the same as the ones from the mid-90's knights. Quote
Sandy Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 Looking at the set inventory, I see two archers. Don't bother, the guy's a mulehead who doesn't really know what he is trying to say, but still keeps on pushing. Again, who expects a LEGO castle set to come with a full-fledged army anyway? There would be no incentive to buy any of the other sets then, would there? LEGO is very much a collector's item to both children and adults alike, I've never even heard of a person who just has one LEGO set, anyway. It's the "gotta catch'em all" mentality that we have been inflicted with. Quote
Sirrico Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 I was talking about the new 2010 Castle (I can only see a crossbowman on the Dragons' side)... There are two other crossbowmen (red-white faction): 1. Set 7946: next to the catapult 2. Set 7948: on top of the tower Consequently, we have a total of 3 misslile troops. ;) Quote
Mörs Posted December 26, 2009 Posted December 26, 2009 (edited) Don't bother, the guy's a mulehead who doesn't really know what he is trying to say, but still keeps on pushing. default_hmpfbad.gif I said there aren't any archers in the new castle (defending it)!! Again, who expects a LEGO castle set to come with a full-fledged army anyway? I do, and I don't see one in there! Well, not really an army but a group of soldiers that's capable of defending it. I don't think 3 of them is enough... That's why I hope more minifigs will have been added to the final version of that set. Do I make myself clear now? Sorry for sounding con-fusing. There are two other crossbowmen (red-white faction): 1. Set 7946: next to the catapult 2. Set 7948: on top of the towerConsequently, we have a total of 3 misslile troops. ;) Hooray!! Sir Dillon Posted December 27, 2009 Author Posted December 27, 2009 Don't bother, the guy's a mulehead who doesn't really know what he is trying to say, but still keeps on pushing. Whatever you feel about a person's opinion, directly insulting them is against the site guidelines. Please remember that. Quote
posades Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I'll reserve judgement on the sets until I see clearer, more final pictures, but some of them do look promising (the impulses and dark tower specifically). I'm loving the new wizard, now I can swap him out with the ghetto green wizard I made myself using a Forestman torso and green wizard hat. Quote
David Thomsen Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 I think the dark tower looks particularly excellent. The colour scheme, the detail, the design... it almost looks out of place next to the simplistic castle. On my table I'm going to have the Dragon Knights to the left and the Lion Knights to the right, and in between the old Fantasy Knights will be keeping the peace. So that's three factions. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 (edited) You know what? The long I'm looking at the pictures, the more I see it's not a lion fraction! Its Unicorn fraction! That's why they have Unicorn-armor for horses! Edited December 27, 2009 by Lordofdragonss Quote

That's why they have Unicorn-armor for horses! It would fit with the red and white faction's 'horses' (unicorns?) having straight horns (new piece?) on their head armor. Quote
