blueandwhite Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 I think that's a rather nice gesture from TLG, since the two minifigs only come in the MMV-set, which many kids don't have because of it's rarity and price. I would have liked to see a few more changes to these figures though. A different hairpiece or even a different-coloured torso would have been appreciated. Still, it's hard to complain considering that we are getting three currently-exclusive figs (the prince, the wizard and the queen) along with these two figures which were previously exclusive to the MMV. The newer head is also nice as the current female head used in the MMV has become a tad too common these days. Quote
Nicholai Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 So I guess TLG is recycling the dark green/black female peasant and blacksmith. I believe Nicholai showed there is at least a different head on the female peasant, hopefully the blacksmith will have a different/new head. Will be picking up at least 2 of this advent calendar. He has this head. Quote

Sure is. That's why I have a thumbs up at the end of my post and why I will be getting at least two. I would have also loved it if TLG would have included a male peasant from MMV. Can't wait to see a clear pic of the advent calendar. Quote
UsernameMDM Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 The Kingdoms section is open on the Euro Lego site but only has the jester and magician so far: Quote
Etzel Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 The Kingdoms section is open on the Euro Lego site but only has the jester and magician so far: No, it's still just Austria, Germany and Switzerland. It was discussed a lot just one page back. Quote

The Penguin Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 It's the same old hat. Nicholai posted photos of the Advent Calendar wizard on page 62. In fact, you made comments about him on the next page. His hat even has the same printing as the Good Wizard from the current Castle line. Oh, right! Indeed, I have. ) Have forgotten about him. Perhaps, because he's nothing special really..... However it's really nice to see someone following your comments with such perseverance. ) Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
metalandi Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 (edited) Gotta check out my local toy store the next days if they have the impulse sets. If yes, i'm gonna grab a few and do reviews. Btw. does anyohe know if S@H already offers payment via paypal, or still only with credit card? Edited May 3, 2010 by metalandi Quote
Shroffy123 Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 I am not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but the Kingdoms Prison Carriage Rescue is now available at Toysrus.com http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=4004258 Quote
gunm Posted May 3, 2010 Posted May 3, 2010 If it's like the other "early" releases from TRU, this won't last too long. It'll disappear for a while until closer to the "official" release. I'm soooo tempted, but I already made a big order w/TRU on PoP and TS3 sets and I don't want to pay shipping. Quote
Zzz Posted May 5, 2010 Posted May 5, 2010 Calendar seems to come with lots of civilian minifigs this time.. Me likes! Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 And the Queen. I know she's there, along with the prince, wizard, lion soldier(s),and dragon soldier(s) But Zzz said Civilian minis, which I don't count wizards, soldier or royalty as. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

In a theme that is dominated by Knights and footsoldiers it is nice to see a few figures who fill other rolls. Between the Jester, the new Green Wizard and the princess from the main sets and the blue wizard, queen, prince, blacksmith and female peasant included with the calender this line has a nice assortment of non-military types. If the line lasts another year who's to say what else we'll get. Quote
Sandy Posted May 6, 2010 Posted May 6, 2010 But Zzz said Civilian minis, which I don't count wizards, soldier or royalty as. All those who are not in the army are civilians, queens and wizards included. Of course, neither term is actually medieval, so it's harder to make the division in that case... Quote
Emperor Claudius Rome Posted May 7, 2010 Posted May 7, 2010 The only problem I can find with the theme is the lack of archers. I'm rather sick of crossbows. Good thing two of the collectible figs have bows. Quote
posades Posted May 8, 2010 Posted May 8, 2010 The only problem I can find with the theme is the lack of archers. I'm rather sick of crossbows. Good thing two of the collectible figs have bows. To each their own I guess. I prefer crossbows over bows and arrows when it comes to the Crownies and factions like that. I guess to me it just seems like the bow piece is too rustic for a kingdom to use; it's more suited to hunters or forestmen. The nice thing is it's easy to convert them, though, and there still might be some archers thrown into the line later on. Quote

England certainly used the long bow for centuries with great success. It could be fired at a faster rate and generally carried a greater maximum range than the crossbow. On the other hand, training soldiers to use crossbows was far easier making them far easier to replace. The only thing I don't like about the LEGO bow is that it is always drawn making it look a bit silly at times. I would love to see a mold of an undrawn bow. Quote

I would love to see a mold of an undrawn bow. Well, the bow mold is also in the drawn mode too, and it is less easy to pose and make look good than the gun-like crossbow (imo). I believe that it is best for the soldiers to have one or the other in terms of the bow piece, and bows just seem technologically inferior to the crossbow, whether or not they were used during the same time period. I too would like to see bows used, but I really believe that it would better to introduce a theme along the lines of forestmen, elves or Rangers to wield the weapon. I wouldn't even mind seeing a major castle faction (along the lines of crownies or the kindom guys) using bows, as long as the bow was the only ranged weapon. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
frumpy Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 I prefer the bows as well. Perhaps it's because I remember them fondly from the old castle sets back in the 80s. Crossbows are ok, but I was hoping for a change back to the bows this year. Quote
GRogall Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Hi Not sure if these are up yet but here you go! "Pitstop"!!!! Quote
Alex the Great Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Well I've seen good pics of the smaller sets, but I haven't seen that much of the bigger ones. I'm quite excited for this line, I will surely get all the sets at least once. Quote
The Penguin Posted May 9, 2010 Posted May 9, 2010 Thanks for the pics! ) Is it me, or the wizard's scroll says: "There is no danger greater than the evil Dragons"? But that is not what has been stated in the reviews so far. Interesting..... Good day, ladies and gentlemen! ) Quote
