Jameson42 Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hi there! My name is Jameson. I just came out of my dark ages in May of this year after 7 years out of it, and I have developed a bit of an obsession with Cafe Corner style buildings. I recently finished my first three houses, and wanted to share them with you all. Overview shot: Roof overview: Green Victorian house: Pale Blue brick house: Lime Green brick house: Let me know what you think! Larger pics and more views are available in my Flickr. Quote
BlueBard Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Really nice! I especially like how colorful your little neighborhood is, the techniques for the entrance stairs and, of course the window banisters. Great job Quote
Commodore Hornbricker Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 I always like the colorful towns and buildings and you have done a wonderful job with yours. It reminds me of a fully complete large scale classic-town that Lego might have built back in the day. Very nice. Quote
Rick Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Colorful indeed! Shows that with basic Lego colors, you can still create appealing buildings. Quote
Jameson42 Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 Really nice! I especially like how colorful your little neighborhood is, the techniques for the entrance stairs and, of course the window banisters. Great job Thank you. The window railings are actually someone else's design. Vincent Kessels on Flickr came up with them some time ago. Quote
ILikePi Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Welcome to Eurobricks Jameson! I saw these creations on Flickr a few days ago. I like the color schemes, the roof details, and the window railings! Keep up the good work, and enjoy your stay here! Quote
Big Cam Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Really nie looking houses, I like that they are all custom. The stairs o each house are a bit different and I think that makes them unique. A very fine collection, yo should be proud! The green victorian house is my favorite, I love that balcony! Quote
Jameson42 Posted November 23, 2009 Author Posted November 23, 2009 The green victorian house is my favorite, I love that balcony! Thank you. :-) The sliding doors on the balcony actually slide open and closed. Quote
Legostein Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Hello and welcome to these nice boards! The houses presented in your introduction are a pleasure to see. Especially as you're using rather uncommon colours makes them an immediate eye-catcher. My favourite details you included can be found in the green house. Those studs-down fence piece are brilliant, and also the embedded flower pieces as relief. Very well done! Cheers, ~ Christopher Quote
Davey Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Great work and welcome to Eurobricks. I also saw these on Flickr a couple days ago and they really caught my eye. I love the color schemes for each of them and the detail work is really nice. I particularly like the green Victorian house. The use of the green flower/leaf pieces up near the roof is pure win. Great job and keep building. -Dave Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 'I'm on my way to where the air is free, can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street.' That's what these MOC houses remined me of - BEAUTIFUL ! Love the Victorian style with it's bay window - COOL, the colour selection - FANTASTIC, sidewalk - you now just need a trash can with Oscar popping his head out of it - YEAH and the window/wall trim - SWEET. Jameson42, hats off to you ! Great work, love it. Quote
Badsneaker Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Looks great! I love when people aren't afraid to go bright and bold!! prateek Posted November 23, 2009 Posted November 23, 2009 Great little houses! They have a charm to them. Funky colours but they work Quote
ACCURATEin Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Welcome back from your dark ages! Very nice MOCs. I look forward to more from you. Quote
Jameson42 Posted November 24, 2009 Author Posted November 24, 2009 Thank you everyone! The color choices were largely due to what was available in Pick A Brick the last few times I went. I have this awful habit of buying 6 large cups at once, and I can't resist filling up on what I don't have yet. I've still got a cup full of 1x2 reddish brown plates that I have no use for yet. Quote
WesternOutlaw Posted November 24, 2009 Posted November 24, 2009 Welcome Jameson. Very nice, clean, and neat collection of buildings. I love the non-traditional colors, esp the lime green building. With the brown accents, I'm not sure why, but it reminds me of something out of Sesame Street (in a good way). Great collection of buildings here, with lots of nice architecture details. Glad to have you share with us here on EB. EDIT: I think this deserves a warm front-page welcome. Quote

With the brown accents, I'm not sure why, but it reminds me of something out of Sesame Street (in a good way). LOL, thanks! The lime green was built last, and it was the one I was least sure about. Each section of it looks very strange on its own... The foundation brickwork especially doesn't look very good without the house surrounding it. The house didn't really start to look good to me until I was nearly finished with it. I was very surprised how well it turned out. EDIT: Thanks for the front page feature! I feel very honored!
