General Armendariz Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Could someone tell me where this set came from and if its real or fake. It looks like an awesome set! Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 It looks like fake... No descripions on the box, and this ship looks out of place. Anyway, Great set It would be! Quote
Siegfried Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 Yes, it's this one. There's one for sale; $159.00! This doesn't seem to be in my index. I'll move this to Sci-Fi later.... Quote
General Armendariz Posted November 26, 2009 Author Posted November 26, 2009 There's one for sale; $159.00! Yikes! Forget this set I'll justt stick with my 5 classic spacemen. Well, thanks for telling me anyway Quote

prateek Posted November 26, 2009 Posted November 26, 2009 That would be ridiculous to get that for $159 Quote
Siegfried Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 He is not that stupid. It's a bargain! $53 per fig... Quote
phillip10 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Woah! I would get that if i was rich.... O r stupid.. Quote
Sonic Screwdriver Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 (edited) Hmm... I would have considered bidding on that if it included Commander Schwartz in the set (black uniform), but even then I wouldn't pay $150+. Yikes. The packaging is interesting - this must be very old as it has a photo of the 918 on it, with Captain Jefferson Dash (red uniform) piloting. Edited November 27, 2009 by Sonic Screwdriver Quote

Yikes. The packaging is interesting - this must be very old as it has a photo of the 918 on it, with Captain Jefferson Dash (red uniform) piloting. I've got a couple of these sets, not this exact one, but the one with 2 white suited guys and the one with 2 red suited guys. They were put out by Samsonite (like the other North American sets at the time). The packaging says 1978. The Lego Collector's guide from 2008 producted by Fantasia Verlag GmbH has them all as 1979. Yes, even the ones with the yellow spacemen that didn't show up in sets until 1982. For comparison, the guide lists 1592 - Town Square at a rarity level of 5 bricks out of 6 and these sets are at a 6 out of 6. -Tohst Quote
Ras 74 Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Interesting information Tohst, thank you very much! Quote
CommanderFox Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 WOW thats one EXPENSIVE SET!!!!!! For three men! I'd spend that on something that had tons of pieces. CommanderFox Quote
DJ Force Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 It's a bargain! $53 per fig... Yep, and then open it and play with the figs! :) And I was thinking the latest vintage minifig collections are overprized... Quote
Batbrick Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Holy rampaging somethings from the something something system! How much do classic space figs normally cost? Batbrick Away! Quote
RocketClone Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 Im guessing those are LEGOs core themes on the box there. Quote
Zorro Posted November 27, 2009 Posted November 27, 2009 That's just crazy. I would just love to own one of these in MISB condition, but to pay that much money for it...no...I could get the Imperial Flagship for that money (also MISB). Quote
General Armendariz Posted November 27, 2009 Author Posted November 27, 2009 How much do classic space figs normally cost? On Bricklink with the gold print still intact $3.00 to $5.00 USD! It would be funny if the set only had the figs and no box Quote
snefroe Posted December 27, 2009 Posted December 27, 2009 hmmmm... i'm just reviving this topic out of ... confusion... $160 for a rare classic space set is not all that strange. If a MISB classic space set is rare or the set is one of the highlights of the theme, price can go really high... 160... sure... for three figs is insane, but it's not the figs, is it? People who buy this are collectors and they buy this set for just that. it's a very rare set. it pre-dates the 5 minifig sets, we got later on, there's no "legoland"-banner on the set anywhere, nor is there a reference to Samsonite... a yellow fig of 1978-1979 is quite unique too... and btw, guys... there's a part missing on the space ship... maybe that makes it rare as well...
