Jamesed Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 There is a couple of things I would like to be included in LDD 4.0 1.) The ability to add Lego bricks on top of Mini Figure Legs to make hands for a robot like Titan Xp or other robots including my Lego Optimus Prime Model 2.) When using Lego Universe, have the option to purchase the bricks from Bricklink Website 3.) Able to make proper instructions with step by step plans like in MLCad Quote

Able to make proper instructions with step by step plans like in MLCad Hi Good suggestions! 1) This has been up before, but it's a good one nevertheless! 2) You can use LDD Managerto do that (don't think LEGO will ever make a connection to BrickLink ) 3) Much wanted by a lot of people Quote
prateek Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 I don't Lego would link LDD to BL, since BL is an unofficial source for Lego. Quote
Calabar Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Chance to change the directory where LDD puts its screenshots! Very strange I didn't remember about this request before than now. Quote
prateek Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Doesn't LDD just save the screenshots to My Pictures? It's perfectly fine there. Quote
Calabar Posted September 21, 2010 Posted September 21, 2010 Doesn't LDD just save the screenshots to My Pictures? It's perfectly fine there. Eheh, and absolutely uncomfortable for me! Probably I would set the desktop as destination, if it would be customizable. Quote
Lego Otaku Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 I'd like to see a much improved instruction building engine. Right now the 3.x builds in an impossible order if you build something large. Like my recognizer that takes about 1400 bricks. The instruction suggested building one leg, then everything on top, the other leg last also a complete part list for someone who'd rather raid BL and personal collection than to buy all from Lego. Also itemized buy list if someone wishes to buy the creation that is all 100% available at Lego store (ie no Universe mode) Quote
Lego Otaku Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Another feature but I doubt it'd get implemented: multi-core support.I was using the 5 modular building plans and combined them into one file, that is over 10,000 bricks. Then I tried to make a full block out of them with 4 corner buildings and 12 non corner building. I have AMD 1090t that has 6 cores and they are overclocked to 4GHz. But LDD only used max of 16% of CPU or just 1 core and the program was really stuttering when I had half a block done and taking about 5 minutes just to move a building 1 stud over.It looks like my computer starts to slow down at about 15,000 bricks. Most people probably won't have a MOC that uses more than 10,000 bricks, I kind of doubt LEGO would implement multi-core support. Quote
Calabar Posted September 29, 2010 Posted September 29, 2010 Another feature but I doubt it'd get implemented: multi-core support. If LDD uses only 16% of a single core, probably the bottleneck is not the CPU but the GPU (or the software itself...). Obviously multicore support would be a good think anyway. Quote

I guess someone at TLG forgot to flip their calendar over so it would still be September over there. Version 4.0 did have improved graphic so... Quote
Seluryar Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 heres an idea that i thought was good, may be a little late for 4.0. but here goes, something like a set manager built into LDD, you enter which sets you own into LDD, then you go and build something using only the parts included with those sets, the program will tell you how many of which pieces you have in build mode. it will give you the option to use more than the amount of pieces included in your sets that you put into LDD and let you buy those extra pieces through pick a brick, of course, this idea would mostly apply to sets released that have pieces still being produced by TLG Quote

Obviously multicore support would be a good think anyway. 16% refers to the total CPU usage across all cores. For a 6-core hyperthreaded system - that's 100% of one hyperthreaded core. sub-core? I don't know what they call that. What I can tell you is that writing parallel algorithms for most things is quite hard. A lot of the time it's not even possible. Since the program is responsive under most circumstances, I seriously doubt anything will be done about this. Edit: Also - most requested feature for me right now - A ship date. I don't know what they call that. Perhaps I've not understood well (my English is not much good!), but why ask multicore supporto if 16% was distributed on all 6 cores of his CPU? PS: AMD 1090t don't support SMT it has 6 cores able to manage no more than 6 thread simultaneously. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I would like to see more bricks and a scroll type feature so you dont have to move your MOC or zoom out. If you can I not sure how too. Quote
Aanchir Posted September 30, 2010 Posted September 30, 2010 I would like to see more bricks and a scroll type feature so you dont have to move your MOC or zoom out. If you can I not sure how too. Well, on Windows you can use your right-hand mouse button and click on a piece to center the camera on it. You can also change your camera angle by holding the right mouse button and dragging the cursor. But there's no "scroll" feature where you can simply shift the camera between two points without changing your camera angle. Still, these along with the regular angle buttons should be sufficient to focus on any part of an MOC without having to pick up the MOC and move it. Quote
Superkalle Posted October 3, 2010 Author Posted October 3, 2010 My Wish List is for more generic bricks Hello there Raul and welcome to the LDD forum. I've got to be honest - I don't understand what you mean with your wish list and "more generic bricks". Do you mean that those brick should be in DesignByMe? Quote
Zerobricks Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 Maybe he means generic in graphical sense? Quote
Calabar Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I think it would be useful an "import piece list" for LDD. - Import the list of necessary pieces - filter the palette with that pieces That's a function already existing in LDD for starter models, so the only thing necessary is an easy way to import pieces list. For example it could be import a txt file that has in each line: <num pieces>;<piece number>;<piece colour> Or someone of you knows a way to easily add a list of pieces as starter model? Quote
Superkalle Posted October 4, 2010 Author Posted October 4, 2010 Maybe he means generic in graphical sense? Graphcial sense? Well, I don't know what you mean either Maybe we should wait for Raul to respond. Quote

Brickdoctor Posted October 4, 2010 Posted October 4, 2010 I haven't been active in this forum lately, what with the Reviewers Academy and getting a new computer, and I realize that TLG must be having problems with the program, but has anyone mentioned a Mirror Clone Tool? For those times when you build one ultra-complicated left wing and want to make the right wing with 2 clicks. Quote
